Every manufacturer has at least one model that I like, it's all about individual perspective. Corporate identity and mainstream segment rivalry mean most cars are similar. It all depends what's important to the individual tastes and needs. The lines between reliability, performance and build quality are more blurred now than ever before.
Certain brands still ride high from the days when the reality of the product was superior to the accountant led cheapness of others. It used to be Jap for reliability, German for build quality and everyone else for cheap cheerful repair costs and purchase price. Not so clear cut now in reality unless you have the money for top end stuff.
Badge snobbery is a misguided concept now and I first started to see this when the original Ford focus emerged back in the 90s, it was a vastly superior car to everything else in its segment but because it was a Ford it took time for people to adjust. The die hard ford fans at the time even carried on buying the dismal escort such was the reversal in fords philosophy.
