  1. I think my key fob requires a new battery. After the car is left standing for over 12 hours the drivers door opens ok but a second press fails to engage the passenger door opening. Either that or the door lock mechanism is sticking. After a short drive it works fine. Unlikely to be the main car battery as it's fairly new. Also each time it's happened the car has been left standing in the rain so that may also be a factor. Two questions please. 1) What's the best place to lubricate the locking mechanism for maximum affect? 2)As in the title, what size battery is required for the remote? I'm assuming here the remote doesn't charge itself whilst in the ignition, I've owned a few cars that do this.
  2. I will look out for you guys, I travel back to my home village (Elstead) a fair bit from Basingstoke.
  3. Doesn't the HR have a variable assisted rack? Is that what you own? I can't see any way a rack would be able to change the amount of lock required unless it's broken in some way. Maybe the lightened feel was due to road surface.
  4. Who can remap without it costing the earth? I don't want Uprev anyway.
  5. My codes are coming back as rear sensor not heating up. I'm going to try replacing both post cat sensors. The sensors were on the car when the old cats were knackered so they are probably kaput. My Berks have a spacer built in anyway.
  6. If it goes away when you put in the air con e.g. when the revs rise, lots of Zs do it including mine which is also an 05.
  7. Every manufacturer has at least one model that I like, it's all about individual perspective. Corporate identity and mainstream segment rivalry mean most cars are similar. It all depends what's important to the individual tastes and needs. The lines between reliability, performance and build quality are more blurred now than ever before. Certain brands still ride high from the days when the reality of the product was superior to the accountant led cheapness of others. It used to be Jap for reliability, German for build quality and everyone else for cheap cheerful repair costs and purchase price. Not so clear cut now in reality unless you have the money for top end stuff. Badge snobbery is a misguided concept now and I first started to see this when the original Ford focus emerged back in the 90s, it was a vastly superior car to everything else in its segment but because it was a Ford it took time for people to adjust. The die hard ford fans at the time even carried on buying the dismal escort such was the reversal in fords philosophy.
  8. I can't stand the A class looks wise. No doubting performance though.
  9. Never tried one, but then I don't drink either
  10. Latest fiesta ST is a cracking value for money package and with a mountune upgrade a little rocket.Decent MPG too.
  11. Firstly it also annoys me that water slinks in even just opening the door, but hey I just keep a microfibre towel handy to mop it up. As for gardeners my old man retired a few years back from his normal profession and took up gardening for his elderly friends. His career was forestry so he had greener fingers than many and whatever he touches grows extremely well. He was also a dab hand at topiary. I always knew he would never actually retire and now he makes a very keen income on top of his various pension schemes by gardening for people.I was surprised at how many people actually employ gardeners regularly.
  12. Miltek and Berk HFC. Loud enough but won't wake the neighbours
  13. I can confidently say I don't dream about my cars. Oh hang on I did once but it involved a local dogging spot and not crashing it
  14. Lucky bugger I drive past that dealer frequently drooling.
  15. Mine just passed on Berk cats. CO2 was 0% on fast idle and 0.02 on idle. Car was sat for 30 mins before the test switched off and I took it for a 30 min blast beforehand. They are 2 months old so tip top.
  16. Hah same here Humpy I drive past the camera that got me probably 5 times a week and have done for over a decade
  17. Yeah that's what I thought, it was a few years ago and ironically at the time the road was traffic light controlled due to road works and was down to one lane. So basically I went through the green light at 01:06 am with no traffic and forgot about the camera next to the trench.
  18. My littered past includes 94 in 60 on a clear straight road in the middle of nowhere for which I received the option of points and a fine or a months ban, I took the ban and no points. Young and stupid at the time Two for exceeding 30 mph, the first was a justified 35 and I got a SAC option. The second was unjustified at 32 in a 30 coming out of Reading on the 4074 which annoyed me. Now I stick to the limits rigidly aside from a quick burst every now and then on a clear motorway or an 80ish cruise if there's plenty travelling faster than me.We all do it don't we.
  19. There were two concerns I had, firstly the Berk Cats and secondly the CEL coming on during the test. The print out shows no CO2 on fast idle but 0.01 on normal idle. HC was 0.02 on fast idle. I really thought it would be borderline tbh. Rear discs I knew would be advisory so all good.
  20. They were on here in the trade section. Very nice. As my car is gunmetal I think the normal facelift jobbies for me. The trouble with my current lights is the eye brow covers the previous owner put on have tarnished the insides underneath where they sit. Probably a build up of heat where the brows cover the light.
  21. I'm sure most headlights have adjustment for RHD and LHD even aftermarket ones.
