  1. Fluid levels were fine, all looks fine underneath... did a few turns of the wheel lock to lock then went for a drive to see if I could glean any more info for diagnosis and... it seems fine now. I guess I accidentally bled the system, unless it's an intermittent issue of course. Drives well again though, with the correct steering weight and inputs. Something to keep an eye on I suppose!
  2. Yeah I wondered about the pump but it's significantly lighter than before... just going to check the fluid and have a poke around.
  3. As the title really... all of a sudden my Z's steering has become very light, and requires much more input to produce a given amount of steering angle than before. And it really was sudden too... parked up to go shopping and all was well, got back in it and drove off and things felt very wrong indeed. I've checked tyre pressures and they're ok, banana bars were replaced a couple weeks ago along with a full alignment so hoping nothing's amiss there... The car doesn't appear to pull one way or the other, the steering is just extremely light with little feel and takes a lot of turning. Any thoughts?
  4. Cobra resonated with Berk HFCs here, absolutely love it. Had just the Cobra on there for a couple months and loved the tone but wanted a bit more which the Berks gave in spades. So much character to the sound now, and it pops and crackles just pootling around town which is hilariously fun and a proper head turner
  5. I dropped him a message last night using the order form on his site, no reply as yet though it's not exactly been that long and I imagine he's a pretty busy guy. Quite excited... I'd actually been photoshopping "concepts" for a few months and could never quite get things just how I wanted until seeing this thread
  6. Going to be doing this on mine soon - what grease do people use? The Molykote M77 recommended in the TSB seems rather tricky to get hold of (as in, Nissan will only supply a £200+ tub of the stuff, and I can't find a UK seller that has any... neither can my local garage ) As best as I can tell all that's really required is something that's water and heat resistant, so a gloopy marine grease would fit the bill. Or failing that some standard copper grease I guess. Just want to do it right first time out and not have to worry about it for a while, so recommendations would be welcome
  7. Looks fantastic Only thing I'm not 100% sold on is the depth of the thumb grooves, not sure if I'd prefer them to be a little less extreme... how are you finding them so far? In any case, amazing what a difference a contemporary styled steering wheel makes to the interior
  8. Thanks for the input guys, I'll get it on a ramp and inspected and see what's what - nice to have a starting point though! Because there's a handling issue which has manifested itself along with the knock it does seem to be more likely to be the banana arm than the drop links I guess.. we'll find out.
  9. Hi all, For the past couple of months I've had some knocking in my 54 plate GT - a clunking noise going over bumps/speed bumps and on poor road surfaces (of which there are a lot around here!). From searching around it seems the most likely culprit is knackered sway bar/drop links due to the noise being repeatable going over bumps or drop kerbs and the like. However after a bit of playing around yesterday I noticed I can make the steering clunk while stationary by turning the wheel a few inches back and forth (or by releasing it when turned) - is it possible that this is a symptom of dodgy links or is the problem something else/multiple issues? I took a couple videos to demonstrate the noise while stationary - (engine running) (engine off) Additionally, the steering is very light in the centre and generally a little vague (it was fantastic after a laser alignment in October) - would this be related to the aforementioned clunking, or mean I need another alignment, or something more sinister? I did wonder if I had the "classic" banana bar issue but so far it doesn't appear to be that - no clunking under braking etc. Thanks for any help!
  10. Yep my centre console has been out of the car for a good couple weeks now, for the same reason as OP. Most guides have you remove the gauge cluster/radio/aircon controls with the bit of trim, but if you unscrew those and then hook them back up everything (obviously) works as it should - you just have a bit of a hole! Not sure what would happen if you tried running the car without the controls reconnected, but it's not really worth testing given how simple it is to hook them up without the trim in the way. They.. mostly stay still too, unless you get too spirited!
  11. This one, perhaps? I saw it while getting a set of new tyres fitted to my Z in Bude, North Cornwall. It was apparently off on its way to a car show.. somewhere. This was on Sept 26, so it must be on its way back now! Very cool thing. A replica as you guessed, but very well put together - spaceframed with a Jag engine, functional afterburner, powered "bonnet" and guns. The canopy is powered too and can be opened remotely!
  12. Yeah, gleaned a bit of info though there wasn't anything directly comparable.. just spotted the "What's it worth" section and there seems to be a bunch of people looking for Azure values, some helpful info in there so cheers for sorta pointing me in that direction Thanks, yeah you're quite right on waiting for the right one. I can travel if absolutely necessary but obviously the closer one is the easier it is to view etc. We'll see, I'm in no particular rush - I've been lusting after zeds for ten years now, a few months here or there won't kill me
  13. Thanks all for the welcomes and the info! I've looked through and over all kinds of guides and websites (the 04 I mentioned is on PH, the 53 on eBay and the Azure is.. all over the place!) so I think I've got a vague handle on values, it was just that there don't seem to be any examples comparable to the Azure up for sale right now so I had nothing to compare it to, just a feeling that it was probably rather overpriced I had no idea by how much (or how little), so thanks to samsniss and Almeida for giving me something to compare to, and everybody else that's offered a viewpoint I'll use whatever I can to knock the price down at the dealer, odds are I'll probably have to walk away but if nothing else I should get a nice test drive out of the afternoon!
  14. Hi all, Long-time 350Z fan here, circumstances have finally allowed me to trade up from my perfectly pleasant but utterly uninspiring 05 3dr Focus Being somewhat out in the sticks in the wilds of North Cornwall options are often limited - I don't really have the time to disappear across the country, unfortunately - but a few options have presented themselves reasonably locally, and I was hoping for a little bit of guidance/advice! I'll be going to see a rather gorgeous 54 plate Azure GT with all the usual toys (Rays, Bose, leather, etc etc) on Saturday. Low miles (44k), unmolested, looks to be a lovely example. BUT it's at a dealer, and the price seems rather on the high side to me, even given the mileage and the colour (which I understand commands a slight premium - correct me if I'm wrong!). It was initially up for £9450, was recently reduced to £8750 and that still feels steep, however I've had a brief conversation with a sales exec at the dealer and the suggestion was they'd be willing to come down a chunk - there's a clearance event on this weekend and it sounds like the car has been there a while longer than they'd like, so they're pretty interested in moving it on. I've done a fair whack of research but pinning a value on these things seems bloody tricky - beyond "oh god I don't want to pay that" - so any suggestions are welcome On the other hand there are a couple higher mileage motors available privately, an 04 (99k) and a 53 (120k) both in silver at £4500 and £5000 respectively. Both GT spec (04 has standard wheels/black leather, 53 has rays/burnt orange leather). Both seem to have been maintained well, and I wouldn't exactly be unhappy with either one. I'm not too put off by the mileage as many would be, but would prefer lower miles if possible, and if the price gulf isn't too dramatic. The Azure would come with a 12 month warranty and RAC cover, but I'm not sure what its value actually is. Would trying to get a deal on that be a good idea, vs getting a cheaper higher miles car and having some budget left over for some immediate maintenance/TLC? Thanks, Nick
