  1. ^^ Fair play Chirag for getting up with the sun, even though its as late as 8am. I struggle badly getting out of bed at the mo and am determined to change my routine. After all its the easiest time of the year to get a sunrise shot!! Must get to bed earlier.. dammit!
  2. Do I have a wrapped Disk? Seeing as its Christmas, that's a good possibility! Check under the tree to make sure!
  3. Yes, had a go on a friends em 5 ii but couldn't get on with the evf. I did consider going m/less before I upgraded, but as I mostly do landscape, the big Nikon suits me best as I do love the ovf. However, I was thinking of trading in my quirky Merrill dp1 for a Sony rx100 variant for everyday/take anywhere use, so I'm not totally averse to them. Have you considered a used em 1 ii? mind you I don't suppose there are too many used for sale at the mo. I bought used as I wasn't prepared to pay £2.5k for a new body.
  4. Thanks mate but why is it making you think of selling up instead of getting it back out? Just seems like the new mirror-less cameras do a far better job, and are more portable......but then i also think you have a good eye and talent, mind you i think i have become over critical of the pics i take as well, and so get put off . I really dislike electronic viewfinders on m/less cameras or composing pics on the back screen, especially on a sunny day, when I struggle to see any of the composition. Also with the back screen on a lot, its eats up batteries. Much prefer the optical viewfinder on the dslr. Also find there is a lag on the evf doing panning shots, waiting for the picture to catch up. Just my personal experience and opinion, others will disagree!
  5. Yes, pronunciation in The U.K varies to amazing degrees. For example I say scone by dropping the E at the end (scon) whereas Caroline who is also a Merseysider, if Southport counts as Merseyside pronounces it as cone with an S in front. Pete Pete..We all know Southport aspires to be the posh half of the pool, or at least it used to, even though I lived there meself haha, and 3 of my children were born there. What always amazes me, is that you can travel less than 20 miles east from Liverpool and the dialect totally changes!
  6. Hey Mark, couldn't you catch anything a bit bigger than those tiddlers!!
  7. Geez.... thats a monster pond by the looks of things!! Here's my attempt on a wildlife pond which is ...ahem...somewhat smaller. I built a hibernaculum at one end which is the raised hump behind the mound of stones. This is a dry area where critters live for the amphibians to feed on. Theres a constant supply of water coming in over the slate, from a spring, over by the tree at the back, and drains out in the foreground.
  8. Your volume knob doesnt hate you, it just loves the Lighthouse Family as much as you do, and cranks up the volume! You could try "exercising" the knob...working it back and forwards a number of times ......I would try that first.
  9. If you want a cheaper zed, why dont you look for a private sale. This is what I did, and saved at least 2 grand over a dealer. Also full service history doesnt mean anything, unless you have accompanying receipts for all the consumables. Its just a few stamps in a book (sometimes literally in my experience)
  10. Worked as a hvac controls engineer for 25 yrs with the same company in the nw and here in wales. Packed it in one day to help my daughter who had started a small skincare business. It was scary at the time as I was the main breadwinner, but now I get up when i want, walk over to the workshop and cut some soap! No more travelling and a lot less stress
  11. Quite like shots taken into the sun....heres one from sunday afternoon at dryslwyn castle with a 3 stop nd grad 1/25th f22 iso64 @35mm Liking that a lot mate! Looks like something out of Lord of the Rings! I guess it's all trial and error. I've learnt not to delete any shots until I get home and look at them on my mac. Have discovered some real gems which I thought were crap originally! Exactly!...getting a decent shot is luck of the draw sometime, its all down to the light, but as they say, you have to be in it to win it...just keep at it!

  14. I usually carry a wodge of these around with me and stick em on the offending motor!
  15. Driving back from the opticians yesterday (4pm dusk-no sun) wearing old prescription sunglasses, some guy shouts out, "Can you see the sun.....you're wearing sunglasses!!" "Dog ate my glasses" I shouted. I guess he thought I was a tit, trying to look super cool
  16. ......You need reporting to the RSPCZ
  17. That poor zed!! Reminds me of a miserable caged circus animal, dumped under a tree for most of its life with restricted movement. Only to be let out now and again for public viewing and humiliation, when all it yearns for really, is what it was designed for...... THE OPEN ROAD!
  18. Taken with a Nikon D810(fx) and Tamron 24-70 f2.8 lens @24mm 1/80th @f10. I've just upgraded from a D7100(dx) and still attached to it is.....guess what? a Sigma 10-20mm !! It was my most used lens and is absolutely brilliant! A bargain at £300. Highly recommended. The pic below was taken with it.... 8sec f11 @10mm....think I had a 10stop nd filter attached. Need more convincing?
  19. Looking towards Cribyn from Pen y Fan . . . and Fan y Big in the distance....
