I agree with you on tactical voting, hopefully, another coalition or a minority winner will go some way to showing the smaller parties can have clout if they are given a chance to fairly represent their supporters. I believe coalitions are here to stay and this will give increasing power to the smaller parties, even if on a vote by vote basis.
-
How do you address the issue of wasted votes because party "x" is a shoe in ? To be compulsory surely people must believe their vote counts in some way even if just to let the winner know they haven't necessarily got a real majority and hopefully make them pull their socks up. btw, I would never waste my vote with nota and I agree it's a cop out, but imagine the uproar if 51%+ voted nota, the winning party wouldn't have a valid mandate!
-
Ekona, none of the above simply provides a vehicle for people to show the politicians that they are not representing the majority view and would, hopefully, lead to changes in political approach. Regarding pr I am not sure "we" understood the issue, also with compulsory voting I believe pr would be more reflective. Also I don't recall it being described as a once in a lifetime vote like the Scottish independence vote. one good thing that came from the Scottish vote is their increased political awareness, we need to spread that throughout the UK! I don't care who you vote for but you should vote (imo)

I went to tdi north last week, £405 I was impressed how little I had lost on a 2005 100k de engine. honestly I cant really tell much improvement in performance but idle is lower, fuel consumption (journey up vs journey back, same route and journey time) improved 15%, eml is now off, exhaust appears to drone slightly less (cobra with sports cats) with my driving I never expected to notice any significant performance gains, I have no intention of tracking the car, just enjoying it on some lovely roads. was it worth it? Well that is always subjective, I knew the cost and was prepared to pay it, each to their own.

Choptop, I agree, it should be compulsory to vote, but ONLY if a "none of the above" option is included, that would be a huge wake up to politicians if none of the above got the most votes as it would clearly show the level of disaffection / apathy in the country. as for who should run the Country, I personally feel we need a few more years of continuity so conlib but a change to the voting system before the next election to better reflect the majority.

Cal, This is tempting me to remove my wrap and become friends with your painter! I really hope you make it to Wales so this can be seen in the "flesh" P.s. how is the ankle holding up?
-
Hope the ankle heals soon, that looks horrible, Look on the bright side, you won't get your new paint finish dirty so you can look at that fantastic paint job in all its glory for longer, your mate is doing a stunning job.
-
Make sure your breakdown cover is paid up and have some fun, cos it sounds like your engine has little to lose, just remind me not to follow you round the triangle.

its not speed humps you need worry about, Mudman will have chosen routes suited to Z's. Plenty of nice sweeping countryside and "gentle" meandering along rural roads. come and join in, you and your car will love it.
-
Mudman, we will probably peel off for home lunchtime Sunday so can you count us out for lunch.

Don't know why I didn't think of this sooner, as the charity is Ronald Mcdonald we should organise a series of mini meets on the same day at McDonald's restaurants around the country, good publicity for a worthy charity, anyone any senior contacts at McDonald's? Regarding earlier post, I will make some enquiries at Coventry motor museum and see what dates and numbers can be accommodated. Hope Layla is making good progress. -
Have you seen the number of owners 6 previous!!! for a 2009 vehicle that would worry me more than red rims. but if it goes for not much more it will be a cheap car for someone.
-
Five in a "z" !!!! How do you do it Steve?

Coventry transport museum is free, parking outside is free but req's booking, club needs liability insurance - which is clearly in place, if there is enough interest I am happy to look into dates. I can even book it if someone can provide the required insurance info? Could be a good day out and an opportunity to raise funds for a worthy cause, I have never organised anything like this so if it goes ahead I might need some help. -

The Zed Shed Part Deux Build still going
davedutch replied to Keyser's topic in Off Topic Discussion
Chris, clearly you are not meant to build a new z shed there, I vote a move to the Midlands cheaper houses and even more z owners in need of your skills. I hope for the sake of your sanity you get this sorted soon. -

Chris, all the best to Layla, with four kids of my own a serious illness is always a concern, I can't imagine how your family are feeling right now. I am sure Mudman can arrange a collection at the Wales meet and that auction idea sounds good. If someone could arrange a fairly central meet we could get a large number of "z"s together and fundraise, how about Coventry motor museum as an idea, I'm sure they would welcome us and easy for many to get to? -
Squee, as in reality they are likely to only be worn once or twice I would have thought vinyl would be ok, the forum logo ought to be available forum names and/or real names should be easy they don't need to be over complicated. Would be good on Friday night when everyone drifts into the hotel at least we all know who to talk cars to.
-
Did anything come of the forum t shirt idea? If we all ordered a t shirt with our name printed on the front and forum events throughout 2015 on the back we wouldn't have to try and remember each others names it might be to late now but surely worth a try

Thought it might have been resprayed green ! Great early restoration project.

May be too far to travel but I use Mitz at Cougar Store in Leicester for all my work, including a new clutch last year. he's a trader on here, give him a pm.
-
Cal, this is going to look awesome when finished, it must be costing a mint but I'm sure the finished job will be well worth it. will look forward to seeing this in Wales.

Ave 350 miles a month according to mot this week, but 4,000 a month in my daily drive

It was also announced they CANT have Stig because that is a licensed BBC "product" another twist is BBC are likely to make money out of this under licensing. This whole thing gets stranger by the day!
-
It could be very clever of BBC not to sack JC. There are likely to be clauses in his contract preventing him leaving and starting a similar role elsewhere within a given period, if they had sacked him those clauses could well have been voided and he would have potentially been free to start a new role very quickly, just think about gardening leave in many big businesses. This should be seen as an opportunity to revamp the format and freshen things up for 2016 with a few specials to rake in some cash in the short term (trying to find a way to air the final three episodes)
