  1. @tommy kaira, thanks for your input. I didn't have time to reply to all the points before as I was stuck in work, here's my thoughts. 1. I'm not really "overstretched" I earn in the region of £1,500 to £1,800 after tax each month and pay out around £600 In bills. That said I don't have enough spare cash to the point of not noticing all the petrol stops as I mentioned before. 2. Already mentioned this and I agree, in hindsight I'd have rathered a one in sunburnt orange, I didn't have the time to shop around for the one I really wanted. 3. I could definitely benefit from advanced driving lessons or preferably some track time 4. Theres a good chance I will end up getting something else in the near-ish future. (Don't worry people I'll not make a third version of this post haha!) With regards to your last comment, thats not true in my case, my old car was a stripped out and highly modded civic and it was a raw as they come, I'm not to fussed about comfort to be honest. My mates are winding me up now sending me videos of hondas, I shouldn't have mentioned this to them ^ the guys track etiquette isn't great but it's a fun watch anyway.
  2. I think thats half the problem to be honest, most of my driving is done sat in rush hour traffic heading to and from work!
  3. haha theres a good chance that will happen
  4. So many good points in these replies I don't have time to reply to them all! One of the things putting me off selling is this great forum, it's by far the friendliest owners club I've been a part of. The main thing that caught my eye reading through this was a reply from ddcboyle, you mentioned not getting the right Z and I think that has a lot to do with it. I picked mine in a hurry, I looked at a few and went for the one with good history, low miles and solid mechanics over the one in the colour I liked. I didn't have time to be fussy, my old car gave up and I needed something asap for work. In hindsight I'd have much rathered getting one in a more exciting colour than the standard silver, burnt orange was what I really wanted. Along with this my car has a few minor imperfections that really bug me, the front bumper is stone chipped and the previous owner has tried to cover up a few scratches on the bumper with a paint pen and made a pretty crap job of it. the non gt sound system is rubbish as is the radio and cd player, the wheels could also do with a refurb. Basically it needs a good few ££££ spent on it to get it to the standard I'm happy with, the main thing that tempts me about going back to a type R is that I can get an immaculate one, on a newer plate with solid paint work and full history with low miles and still have a good chunk of cash left over to spend on mods, the cheaper running costs are obviously a bonus too. I decided to drive the scenic route on the way home from work tonight, brimmed it with v power and went for a nice long drive, I think I've been a little hard on the Z in my previous posts, it really is a great car but for some reason I just keep falling in and out of love with it. For the time being I'm going to keep a hold of it again, I don't have the time to look at selling it now anyway, I'll probably treat it to some bodywork tlc when I get paid and see how I feel after that. Sorry for being a right indecisive pain in the arse
  5. did you buy it from a trader or a private sale? I'd just take it straight back to the garage if it was a trader and get it checked out. Mechanically I can't help you I'm afraid but I'm sure someone will pop up with possible causes soon.
  6. Yea man, ultimately this comes down to money for me too. I can afford the Z but at the same time I don't earn enough to the point of the constant petrol station trips not being noticeable. It would be worth it if I absolutely loved the car but I just don't, something is missing. Don't get me wrong, if I could afford coilovers, exhaust, rota's and an uprev the car would be a lot more to my taste but the reality is I can't at the minute and it's just not feeling worth it. The thing I'd miss most is the status thing too, I love the presence the Z has on the roads, the looks it gets and how rare it is, it's just a shame in standard form the performance doesn't really live up to expectations.
  7. Ah man, the Z really is a beauty mind. I think I'm going to spend the weekend driving her and treating it to a good detail then go out and test drive a few other cars and see how I feel. It's going to be very hard to walk away from the Z but if I keep having thoughts of selling it there must be some meaning behind them somewhere.
  8. I agree Hamlin and admittedly I'm forever looking over my shoulder when walking away to check the Z out, it's a beautiful car. I didn't buy it to be economical either, I bought it to be a "drivers car" but I find it heavy and kinda boring, for the price Im paying in fuel I might as well have bought an evo or something. My old civic was kpro'd, it had coilovers and half interiour, it was running around 240BHP, it was a much more entertaining drive but half the cost to run. I don't think my Z is a duff, it's got low miles and full history, the power delivery is very linear tho. I realize I'm making it out like I dislike the car and thats really not the case, it's just not what I thought it was going to be thats all.
  9. As some of you know about 2 month ago I started toying with the idea of selling the Z, I actually put it for sale on here but ended up getting cold feet and decided to keep it. At first I was really glad and wondered "what was I thinking?" but the thoughts of changing are starting to creep back again. My main gripe with the 350Z is how expensive it is to run, I just feel like for the performance it delivers the cost is very high. I keep comparing it to my old civic which I'm confident was a faster car, it cost half the price to insure, tax was way cheaper along with insurance and general running costs. I've been looking over my bank statements and the amount of money I'm spending on fuel each month is mental, I'm still under 30 and I'm starting to think maybe I should stop spunking all my money on cars and try to save a little cash up and be sensible? If not I might as well buy something properly mental and at least justify the running costs. I dunno what it is man, I just keep falling in and out of love with this car
  10. 25 grand on the engine build?
  11. Every now and again the car will make a slight vibrating sound when under high revs or acceleration, it doesn't sound mechanical as such but it has got me a little worried as It comes from under the bonnet. My old EP3 civic used to make a similar noise and it was just the heat shield. It's due a service soon so I'll get it checked over to make sure it's nothing to worry about but in the meantime is there anything I could be checking??
  12. I'm at work now! Ended up getting a little bit to festive at the pub last night and I'm suffering, running on 3 hours sleep today. it's really quiet here tho, litteraly nothing to do. Hoping for an early finish!
  13. What's causing all these failures? Their wasn't a single one throughout the summer. I'm really paranoid about my oil levels now, the dipstick design is absolutely shocking man,
  14. It's a 04 vw bora diesel..... I knew this was a long shot but thought I'd ask anyway.
  15. Just posting this on behalf of someone I work with, their diesel car sounds like it's struggling/revving too high yet the rpm is still low, it's also going through fuel quickly. Any ideas what could be wrong?
  16. 71 Litres!! How big is the tank? 80 litres? I'm really curious how many miles I could have got out of it now, someone should test this but I don't fancy it much haha....
  17. haha! I'll update tommorow. Also I just tried to "like" someones comment and apparently I've liked to many comments today so it won't allow it, to much positivity for one day eh
  18. Made it! Be interesting to see how much it takes to fill it up tommorow.
  19. haha! Also I'm not tight, the thing went from looking like I had just under quater of a tank to zero miles in the space of about 5 minutes. The petrol gauge is useless!
  20. Nice! TDI posted this on their facebook page yesterday! If I remember rightly they said it was stock but still seen gains?
  21. haha! Fingers crossed then, I don't finish till 8 so the roads should be nice and quiet (hopefully).
  22. I've left my wallet in the house and my petrol gauge is currently reading - - - - - It's about an 8 mile journey to work and the guage went to - - - - about half way their. That means I've done about 4 or 5 miles with it reading zero and will need to drive a further 8 mile to get home. Who thinks I'll make it? I know the gauge tends to be very conserviate but I'm still a bit worried about the drive home
  23. Thanks GM. He still has it..... Can anyone tell me what sort of price I should be offering for that? I have no idea what its worth and he wants me to make an offer lol....
  24. Can't blame CS for trying. A new system from them would make a lovely Christmas present for your Zed. Indeed! I would like to be able to eat for the next month to tho haha....
  25. I'm after used at the minute fella. Christmas has got the funds a little tight. If nothing comes up I'll be in touch after new year
