  1. I'm exactly the same mate, every time I try to do work on my own car I manage to make a balls of it haha. I managed to dint the rear boot lid removing the rear wiper, I couldn't get the wiper off so I put a cloth over the bootlid and tried to prise it off with a kitchen knife Yes I am that stupid, wiper came off but I dented the boot lid with the force of it.
  2. The appeal happens once you've experienced it. Cracking engines.
  3. First option. I'd say kumhos are out of the "budget" category.
  4. I'm using KU39's all round, they've been on the car for about 2,000 miles and are holding up very well. I'm no tyre guro, not even close but these grip well in the dry and perform reasonably in the wet, thats all I need a tyre to do
  5. That's good to read nowhereboy after all your ups & downs with the Zed. Glad you kept it then I guess. Definitely mate, it's took a while to grow on me but I have really started to enjoy it recently. Thats not to say I haven't started a savings account for FI in the near future but thats for another thread sometime
  6. Mine was in for the MOT today. Failed for corroded brake lines but otherwise fine, not even any advisories. Quite happy with that result to be honest, it's the first MOT I've put her through I wasn't sure what to expect. It's getting new spark plugs, oil change and service while it's in too. Pick it up tommorow, can't wait, I miss it already!
  7. I have those touring wheels and I fall into the minority that prefers them over the rays. They look great once the car is lowered and wearing spacers. Still doesn't stop me wanting rota grids tho
  8. My mate used to have one of those, great little car! Some of my best driving moments have been out in the sticks in a type R with one of these 182's on the twistys, hot hatches are just great on those roads. The same lads know own a 400bhp scooby and a R33 GTR and we still go out for the odd country drive, I think that would have been to much exitement to take back when I was a 19 year old petrol head
  9. Just to state the obvious it's well worth doing the fly also while you're at it.
  10. Yea if that includes the clutch its not actually that bad. I got a clutch and flywheel off cougarstore on here and including fitting it ended up costing me around 800 pound or so.
  11. Titanfall is awesome! I'm a big fan of shooters and was getting sick of the crap in black ops 2. Titanfall has no campers, no overpowered snipers, shotguns or killstreaks. It's extremely well ballanced and really good fun.
  12. Oh my days titanfall is amazing
  13. heh, you should hear my single mass.... I love the noise tho
  14. Just ordered the xbox one last night, I was planning on waiting but I only really play FPS shooters and black ops 2 is going to cause a nervous breakdown if I continue to play it I picked up battlefield 4 for the 360 and it looks crap compared to next gen, I'm new to battlefield and really enjoy the gameplay, that and the fact that titan fall has just come out persuaded me to order the one. Really excited actually, I've never even seen one in the flesh yet. I'm off work all week too, happy days.

    My Supra

Ahhhh man this looks so good
  16. The light fly actually made a noticable difference, the revs pick up and drop off much faster. It does make heel and toe a little tricky as the revs drop off really quick but overall it's a great mod. I actually like the noise it makes at low down revs too, add's to the character lol.
  17. I agree with both of you guys. I'm hoping the Z can be made a little more exiting with some choice mods... coilovers, exhuast and a re-map etc, mine is stock at the minute aside from an exedy clutch and ligh flywheel. I really need to get to a meet to check out some modded Z's.
  18. Guess it depends on what you are used to driving but I went from a diesel golf to a 313 zed and was quite underwhelmed by the performance. Sure, it was quick, but it just didnt feel as quick as I expected. I guess the last proper "quick" car I had before my zed was a 220bhp Renault 5 GT Turbo which would do 0-80 as quick as you could change gear and literally violently throw you back in your seats when the hybrid turbo kicked in. Im also used to sports bikes like my R1 etc. So maybe for me a NA "quick" car just didnt have the right feel. Saying that, my 123d does 0-60 in 6.2 seconds which is only less than half a second slower than a zed and that too doesnt feel quick until you look at the speedo and think "christ i didnt realise i was doing that speed", so maybe its just me! I always bring this up but my old EP3 Type R felt much faster than the Z, however if put in a drag the Z would probably win. I find It's all about how the Z puts the power down, it has no drama, just smooth progressive acceleration through the revs. It's deffinately one of those cars where you dont realize how fast your actually going in it. It's actually my biggest gripe with the Z, in stock form it's a little boring for a sports car (in my opinion of course).
  19. I always feel like the Z is a little slow under normal driving, it's the progressive power delivery that makes it feel that way for me. The only way to make it feel "quick" is by really stepping on it and shifting up at the redline in every gear. I know what you mean tho, the first time I did some first gear pulls and really pushed on it felt much faster. My DE feels like it has loads of torque low down but it goes nowhere until high rpms.
  20. haha I know man, I'm so indecisive. I think it's because this is the first car I've owned outright, normally I'm tied to a car with finance etc but the Z is all paid up. I've spent loads on the Z in the last few months to be honest, litteraly thousands. Either way, I'm putting cash to one side now, I guess I'll just keep looking and see what happens. Getting the Z supercharged is a possibility, I've been doing a fair bit of research into that recently too. If you did go down the supercharged route for the Zed even though a fair few people have already done it that will still be a more unique & rarer car than any Impreza/Evo or Skyline. Just a thought. My first Turbo car was a my96 "classic shape" JDM Subaru Impreza WRX ~ it was bog standard when I bought it and probably only running around 256bhp even though it was supposed to be a claimed 276bhp as standard. Spent thousands on modding it to how I liked it and trying to get more power from it but ultimately it was a nightmare car to own. Total money pit & spent more time on the back of low loaders than it did on track. Had the engine rebuilt once, gearbox twice, front diff adjusted, rear & centre diffs rebuilt etc etc. I know not all 4wd turbo cars or Impreza's would be like this one but it is definitely something to bear in mind as they can be very expensive to maintain & repair. My 295bhp old money pit below. Could of got more power from it easily eventually by changing the intercooler & turbo unit but the engine smashed a con-rod through the block only 12K miles after the first engine rebuild so that was that and I got rid of it because I'd had enough by that stage. Wow, what a nightmare! (cool looking car tho ), It's starting to look like my savings account could be called the supercharged 350Z fund..... I have many questions which I'm going to spend a lot of time researching, I guess a good place to start is the FI section on this forum.

  22. Wow, didn't realize these were the guys from "Paul browns cars", yea I'll avoid like the plague haha. I'm just browsing at the minute anyway, I'd not consider anything old/turbo without either taking a forum member with me or getting an inspection on the car
  23. Thanks lads, there's a lot to consider for sure. I work in car insurance so thats not really a problem, I'm not bothered if a car has a "chav" image to be honest, I wouldn't let that put me off. The supra has popped up a few times, I've done a bit research and it seems thats not a bad option actually, the lads on the supra forum speak very highly of the auto box but I'd much rather a manual. They seem to be going for under 10 grand these days too, hmmm... http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/toyota/supra/toyota-supra-twin-turbo-5-speed-stunning-car-400-bhp-stage-1-mods/1711196?isexperiment=true
  24. I love the Z I really do, but again I've found myself trawling through pistonheads and autotrader a lot recently. It all boils down to never having owned a turbo car, I've always wanted one and just never got round to it. I'm starting to put some cash to one side for the summer, I'm thinking it might be time to scratch the itch and buy something FI, one last hurrah before I settle down and get on the property ladder. My budget isn't massive, I'd be selling the Z and maybe throwing an extra few grand in, so maybe 9 thousand tops. I want something properly FAST, with at least 350BHP, preferably 400 + It needs to be reliable as I'd hope to use it as a daily. I've been looking at evo's, impreza Sti's, R32 GTR's, Modded R33 GTS-T's and GTR's, Silvia S15's...... You get the idea, turbo Jap cars. I've heard so many mixed opinions about most of the cars I've listed, I know my mates GTR is an amazing machine but it spends half of it's time in the garage getting repaired, that is exactly what I don't want. I really don't need the stress of a car thats breaking all the time. Heres a few cars that have caught my eye over the last few days... http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/mitsubishi/evo-iv--vi/evo-5-stunning-evo-in-dandelion-yellow-spotless-car-in-perfect-condition/1780464 http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/subaru/impreza-sti/jdm-wrx-sti-twinscroll-only-28k/2060729?isexperiment=true http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/nissan/skyline-r33/nissan-skyline-r33-gts-t-series-2-yellow-gtr-wide-body-kit-426bhp-torque-407/2118017 Opinions? I'd not be buying anything until at least may/june so I've got plenty of time to think. I might even decide to keep the Z and modify it, but I don't see this turbo itch going away anytime soon
