  1. I totally forgot about the Focus RS! as stated multiple times already, you will be in a better position when it comes to the ballon payment vs the value of the car. Plus I suspect when you drove the Type R, the modern chassis/Diff and brand new tyres covered up a lot of the reasons why every car with 300BHP+ isn't FWD. The RS with 4WD for pressing on and RWD for fun,, no brainers IMHO.
  2. Im not in a Zed anymore so you're all on your own It honestly looked like it was wrapped in a deep purple but my eyes are terrible so it could have been a blade. The bonnet was open, my money is on the fan failure.
  3. I really like the CTR but at £30K+ and FWD I just dont think it would be for me. No matter how clever that front diff is, it wont stop 300+BHP nose diving. If they became as affordable as the FN2 did after a few years then that would be a different story. Buying new in that price bracket, there just isn't much choice other than the German drabs. You don't want to be 1 of the many with the Golf R or S3. I did see a m235i for 30K. Fair play if you go for the jap mobile.
  4. Man maths should always prevail and pick the faster car I have never spent £20K plus on a car but surely the dealerships selling these would give you some sort of extended warranty for a 3 year old car? Obviously not as easy as manufacturer warranty but its still something to help you sleep.
  5. Astra VXR 13 plates are selling for around 15K(retail) so you would expect the Type R to be around the same maybe slightly more. I would personally look at something for sale around the 20Kish mark, 7K for the Zed would be roughly around £300 on HP. 13 plate M135i 3 door with 24K on the clock. £20K 12 plate Exo X FQ300 with 24K on the clock £20798 09 plate Cayman 2.9 with 29K on the clock £21995 13 plate Impreza WRX STI type UK with 15K on the clock £20495 I would bet you would have some value left in the car after 3 years with one of these cars with that deposit. Obv not to everyones taste,,, just examples
  6. Heading out of town last night about 11 and saw a zed on the hard shoulder eastbound just after the off-slip for the M80. It was dark so I couldn't tell the colour but it didn't look like a standard colour. Anyone on here? I would have stopped but was already by you by the time I clocked it was a Zed.
  7. Really gutted to hear about this, my thoughts are with his family and friends. The first time I met Martin he had just said he was going to be around Glasgow. I was working late but Martin and Liz hung around just to take the time to meet me before the lakez. Gem of a guy, I hope Lexx and all the other members who knew Martin for years are ok.

    RIP 911

That is crazy MPG for a car like that!! roll on a few years and almost all cars will have at least 1 turbo and some sort of auto box. Sad sad times, although, could you run any other 911 as a daily as cheaply as that? Would you really notice that much on a motorway journey... I think only a few would. And another big plus as Rabbitstew mentioned,,,,, 1 remap could turn them into seriously quick cars!!
  9. Did you not get a picture of the BEAST! ? Irfan, I am going to collect it tonight with a LRF4N approved spoiler on Sorry I couldn't stay longer will need to get a nandos day or something sorted soon!
  10. Is the price of v power/momentum went up in your area? 2.5 mile journey each way everyday isn't too great for the car, assuming it doens't go much further than this at the weekend if £20 does you 2 weeks !!
  11. Sorry to state the obvious but in the panic of stalling is it possible that the clutch wasn't fully pressed on the first few attempts to turn it over?
  12. Sounds very dodgey, full respray is £2/3000ish, so what is the other £3000 worth of work?
  13. Hi Mobius, I don't like those spacers, if I were you I would be looking at how wide you can go before rubbing the archs and getting 25mm spacers or something
  14. Marty I should have showed you my bank account before you bought your zed it might have saved yours but it looks like you're fecked! Good progress though!
  15. had exactly the same problem with my gf's old mini... turned out to be low coolant... not sure how it fixed it, but it did! I also topped up the oil I had checked the oil in it last week and it was fine, I will have a look at the coolant when I go home!
  16. Don't have access to one sadly!
  17. Hi all, I have been driving my misses mini while my car has been in the garage and low and behold I have got a problem with this as well. 57 plate 1.6 mini cooper, I noticed earlier in the week that when I was sitting at the lights the revs would drop and stutter slightly then it would rev higher then settle. It would do this once every 10 or 20 seconds. I was driving home last night and the red battery light popped up then went off quite quickly then it popped back on and stayed on. I drove the short 2min journey home with zero issues and parked up and popped the bonnet. I reved the engine while the lights were on to see if the lights dimmed but they didn't. everythin looked ok under the bonnet bar the revs doing the stutter every so often. I had done a couple of very short drives last night so it did get a few start stops which can always show up a bad battery. It is the revs that is throwing me off, I don't want to just go buy another battery for it to be something else. Any thoughts?
  18. Admiral are ok for modifications but I think there is a limit
  19. It depends on how far you want to go with it. I started with small things, then slightly bigger things like splitters then you end up with a fully respray and body kit If you are staying fairly standard, then Zunsport front grill, little bit lower and debadge the 350z at the back as it makes the ass look fatter.
  20. Neilp was just talking about you on Saturday I just got a hatch impreza so he was showing me that beast you built.
  21. I don't think there has been a Cayman thread were Dan hasn't mentioned getting someone to check this before buying. Either way I am gutted for you mate. My car is going into a specialist tomorrow morning to make sure there isn't any nasty surprises before my warranty runs out. Hope the warranty sorts most of the bill mate
  22. Karting once per week at least In a Classic Rock cover band As of just now, Clash of Clans
  23. I do remember now that was 1 month ago, i havent seen it in the flesh to cement it in my mind yet
  24. And in Wales too, only 87 houses would have had to pay the mansion tax should Labour have won the election !! http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-politics-30956422 Pete I would have never guessed that!
  25. I must have missed this? You have the bmw and lexus?
