  1. I've done it on a few cars, just cover up the electrical parts, and without a doubt you MUST use a pressure washer (normal hose just chucks out too much water). I typically spray on some bilt hamber 'Surfex-HD' - it's brilliant stuff, just agitate it with a brush and rinse it off. Lastly, I always start the car as quickly as possible, and let it heat up to dry out any water. (keep a can of wd40 nearby just in case ) Failing any of that, check out detailingworld, plenty of great advice on there
  2. I spotted these from the same seller: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Nissan-350Z-HID-Xenon-2-Bulbs-Set-D2S-5000K-/220483967764?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3355de5b14 I don't like the really blue lights, just white is fine but how come they are super cheap ? I thought they were usually around £60 for a pair ?
  3. My mate got it a couple of days ago, properly evil so I'm told Stick your wife in the shed.
  4. I ended up staying with A-Plan, £690 but I opted for excess protection, so £735. Which is roughly what the MR2 was, so it'll do for now.
  5. I got the Spin Doctor, so I'll be having a go as well (when it stops raining!)
  6. I'm going to nip into B&Q to get one of their £20 pressure spray things, you can sling 5ltrs in there, a lot easier than this stupid plant sprayer I've got
  7. As others have mentioned, always put the best tyres on your car - as to specifically which ones, that will always depend on how you drive and what you like from a tyre. But there are always several top premium ones to go for And if you really want the best from your car, definitely do a few driver training days for handling etc It's not very expensive and technically should last a life time.
  8. This isn't the case with HFR, it has a very clinical feel to it, so it only works with some scenarios rather than an entire film. They can mix and match 24/48 etc rather than just sticking with one format. If used creatively, then I think it'll have it's place as much as slow motion does for films.
  9. I work as a visual effects artist for feature film, so like the rest of my colleagues I was also intrigued to see the film in HFR (not to be confused with camera shutter speed or tv refresh rates). I knew in my mind what it was going to look like (shite) and unfortunately it lived up to that expectation. Film is cool once it gets going but HFR is diabolical. IF you are a bit of a geek - have a read of this: http://masterzap.blo...rame-rates.html I can say I'll happily watch it again, albeit at normal 24fps, and not in 3d either (although I think it's just converted to 24fps, so motion blur will still be lacking I think). But to quickly summarise why I thought it looked bad: I expected Benny Hill music to come on in some shots, as it looked sped up ! It made the film look like a pantomime and a TV kids show at the same time. It's probably something most folks won't consciously be aware of until you have a direct comparison side by side.
  10. Hmm I've called a couple of the companies that are on board here. £740 £800ish from another 32 11 years no claims declared mods (exhaust/remap/b.pads) 6000ish miles per year Guildford/Farnham area Previous experience of similar powered cars I was honestly hoping for it to be closer to £500, as that seems a bit steep to me comparing it to a lot of you guys. (I know the obvious things which will make a difference though)
  11. Well I woke up to find I've got a puncture, so new boots it is (whether I like it not!)
  12. Impressive work, and I do understand about what you say in regards to the swapping.
  13. I thought I'd mention that DannyBoy is also offering a cf skinning service as well (since I spotted that one prior to this thread). However I'd personally rather swap as it's my only car and I don't want to wait potentially weeks without an interior, although I'd only like a few bits done (main centre console and probably doors in 'dry' cf). Can't wait to see the parts fitted back in your car
  14. Did you actually read what I typed up? The seller only wanted to use PP, otherwise of course I'd just turn up with cash/transfer
  15. I'm not sure why there is a charge to come directly from my bank but not when it's transferred to PP, then from PP to the 3rd party. It even states on their site that it's free to do it.
  16. Out of pure curiosity... did the decats still make that raspy/goose hissy sound around 2000-3000 rpm when coming off the gas ?
  17. Ah I've see how to avoid the fee, just pop the cash into your paypal account via bank transfer.
  18. Thanks guys, I'll double check. The only thing it says under my bank accounts is XXXX (Primary) (Unconfirmed). I've been using it for years but I've never understood that part. I'm heading to him to do a swap EDIT: I just did the confirmation thing with my account, although I thought I did this years ago but perhaps that was for verification or something.
  19. Hey guys, I want to send some money to a member on here for an item, it's a personal sale, however they want to use PP and not a transfer directly to their bank account. Paypal states that it's free to do this but how to I ensure it's not going to charge him or myself ? (it's only £200 transfer but I don't want to give PP money for this) Please help a fool !
  20. Another couple: http://www.stoptech.com/technical-support/technical-white-papers/-warped-brake-disc-and-other-myths#'>http://www.stoptech.com/technical-support/technical-white-papers/-warped-brake-disc-and-other-myths# http://www.stoptech.com/technical-support/technical-white-papers
  21. Seems like the 'spin doctor' and the EP801 come up fairly well, so yes I've asked for one although if I don't get it I'll buy one in the future. The DA is on long term loan to me but it's a right pain having to lug a 20kg transformer about
  22. Yeah I've done the wet sanding on my mr2 for deeper scratches but the on the 350z, they aren't deep but should come out. It's going on my christmas pressie list
  23. Bugger, that's exactly what I have. It removed the swirls but all of the scratches are left.
