  1. Yup I had the penny and then two penny's in my old springs for 7 years I fancied having it back to new though, presumably nobody used penny's from new?
  2. I've replaced the springs so they should be as good as new
  3. So then it sounds like the struts need some extra oomph!
  4. Hi guys, so I'm very curious to know how the boot originally opened. I've replaced the spring poppers with brand new Nissan ones from ewan and also the gas struts from sgs. Currently although the struts now hold the boot open I still need to heft it a bit to get them started. The boot often still fails to clear the latch fully. Given the springs are nissan branded and I'm assuming they are just meant to help the struts not to lift the boot entirely on their own then I'm thinking the sgs struts aren't rated the same as the originals? So owners did the boot seamlessly lift as soon as you tapped the button? Did it lift enough to clear the latch and then you need a gentle lift to get the boot to open fully?
  5. While I still go for bolts as well with larger pieces if your using adhesive that has maximum contact with the two pieces your effectively spreading any load across a much wider surface. Imagine a spoiler, 6 bolts, so the load on the spoiler is being spread over 6 points, if your exerting 6kg of force then each bolt is supporting 1 kg (assuming an even load which obviously never happens) that's 1kg on the mount points, (maybe 2cm square) with adhesive your looking to spread that 6kg over say 1 square meter, your exerting much less force on a single point. Most adhesive works from suction as well, once gripped and solid it's very hard to remove! It's perhaps not obvious when thinking about because you think the bolts are stronger, that's true but it's not the bolts that are the weak point it's your mounting points!
  6. CEL being lit isn't an MOT fail... I hate this mine do it to with my HFC's as I've moaned about several times. I just want a cheap fix
  7. I guess it depends where you are and knowing the roads. I still have plenty of fun but I'm perhaps wiser as to where to have the fun! The UK is stupidly safe versus most other countries I've driven in, Romanians think nothing of overtaking lorries on unsighted blind corners at night!
  8. Yay! Nice one, I still remember by drive home all those years ago, going from a clip was a big step, had a huge grin on my face, hope you did too!
  9. I got some clear ones off eBay too, seem OK haven't fitted them yet we're 13 quid I think
  10. Welcome Car looks decent, I'm sure there will be niggles but most things can be ironed out very simply
  11. Nice, I'm tempted to try this on mine, the kits don't look too pricy but obviously time consuming!
  12. I work in the games industry so at least cars are real!
  13. If your feeling adventurous use a metal sheet template it out with new bolt holes at the front and rivet it to the front of the existing tray
  14. I'd rather buy an imported mustang was my point the previous gen mustangs can be picked up for better prices and often are tuned and upgraded
  15. Limited body and interior colours, no sequential indicators, no dlrs, limited interior options
  16. Ugh don't get a UK mustang, missing some of the nicer features of the US ones
  17. If he's already owned a z in one flavour I don't see the nismo as something wow, it's nice but it's an upgrade if he wants something different..... Personal opinion, I love my z but I'd rather keep it and get something different than buy a better model, it's like owning a 330 and eyeing an m3 of course it's better but is it better enough?
  18. Corvette, I assume you've already owned a 370 or 350? Get something different especially if you had a soft spot, are the prices raising or just stable? I'd imagine the 370 will be dropping so your money will be safer in the corvette
  19. I have mtec drilled and grooved, look lovely and perform well. I've fitted mintex on other cars and they seemed fine but nothing performance related
  20. http://www.hzperformance.com/body-kits/nissan/350z.html Anyone fitted anything from these guys? I've seen a few bits and pieces being listed as genuine HZ parts, prices seem sort of reasonable (not cheap/not expensive) any thoughts on fit/quality?
  21. What are the tops made from?
  22. Any info on maintenance, things like droplibks, bushes, arms etc?
  23. Remove what you have and add what you want, the effort to try and match them only to find even if the sizes are perfect there's 10 years of wear to one element just isn't worth it. Did you buy the car based on it being genuine NISMO? I'm guessing not since your unsure if it's genuine from the factory in which case your not selling it as such so all that matter is it looks the best it can, and that means replacing it.
  24. Just for clarity when you say it feels like driving on a flat how does that feel for you?
