  1. Me too It's the plastic/rubber rotting i'd guess
  2. Digging in the manual under the lights section and BCM it does have a 5min shut off. I'm guessing that could I could just add a relay in that effectivly kills the input from the combination switch (stalk) when the ignition is off.
  3. Cool, that's what I'm after. Again with the Qashqai I'm always turning the lights off in the morning as when we park it at night we leave the lights on, they turn off when the keys removed right away and turn back on in the morning when the key is turned. Surely this is just the reverse of what we do? Park at night, turn the lights off, then you don't need to turn them off in the morning? Point is when there's no ignition the lights are off, if anyone was to try doing something clever with the lights then they'd be safe in the knowledge that removing the key stops anything eating the battery.
  4. Cool, that's what I'm after. Again with the Qashqai I'm always turning the lights off in the morning as when we park it at night we leave the lights on, they turn off when the keys removed right away and turn back on in the morning when the key is turned.
  5. I'm not thinking of lights that come on or off automatically beyond "turn off when the key is out" the qashqai I'm refering too doesn't have autolights either
  6. On my 54 plate 350 if I park, turn off the engine and remove the keys the car will emit a warning tone and I need to manually switch off the headlights, on the missu qashqai the lights just turn off when the key is removed, is there a magic setting for this anywhere or are we stuck forever twisting the lights to off?
  7. So my dome light blew one of its bulbs and I decided its time for an led upgrade, I swapped in some leds with heat sinks which promptly shorted out the car, luckily just the fuse. I bought a second set of leds with no heat sink but they dont seem to turn on correctly, for example the drivers side switch seems to turn both lights on which is downright weird. I have disconnected the battery for five min to reset everything. So what leds do people use?
  8. nifty, I have some usb leads in my car and I was wanting a USB port that fitted like this!
  9. Well it's gone! Whatever it is its an aerial, it's a single cable. I unclipped it down the drivers pillar and ill remove the rest later, I mounted my gps aerial in its place, look like stock!
  10. I was considering the same actually remove the stereo to remove the front panel is a pain! Easier to allow the panel to come off minus the stereo!
  11. There is a mic within the dome light I think although the manual says the mic is actually in the drivers lower dash which I find weird!
  12. Not to bring this back but did anyone confirm? The hands free kit in the cubby seems to link your phone via bluetooth which I assume is within the module itself so what purpose does this box serve? I'm tempted to remove it and put my gps antenna here!
  13. Did you have any luck? What did you do in the end? Im in a similar situation
  14. Not a big fan of the suede look but if you're curious theres an ebay seller that makes leather covers fro the 350z doors, the photos should give you an idea of the components you'd need. It's soemthing I'm going toa ttempt at some point as I have a cunning plan!
  15. Can't see your file but I'll assume they have the same outputs I wired up a reversing camera at the weekend which is working perfectly
  16. Do you the bose system? Ive just done mine and what I needed d was... https://incartec.co.uk/Pages/Product.aspx?P=2975 This is the main harness, you'll need to swap the red and yellow wire so the unit gets power correctly, the remaining blue wire on the harness is your antenna power so I cut that and linked it to the xtrons directly https://incartec.co.uk/Pages/Product.aspx?P=2651 This plugs into the steering box on the above harness and links to key1 and key2 on your xtrons Incartech do a kit with the facia as well but I found it far far too tight so im ordering from elsewhere After that I also had to modify my harness to turn the phono connections into an iso one, this is called the buster mod on the forums, just be aware your taking speaker outputs and connecting them to your amp,the volume levels will be louder! I've seen on ebay some rca to iso blocks if your not confident with your soldering Good luck its easy to do but lack of a specific guide did make it confusing so hopefully you'll find the above answers everything!
  17. I need to do this shortly, is there a good guide? I changed the lower compression arms onthe missus qashqai a few months back which wasn't too bad.
  18. Attenuators are what I need it seems, I would be able to lower the input to the amp and effectively pick a range between "maxiumum buster" (as I'm calling it) and zero so a nice fix for anyone who wants something in the middle
  19. To be fair it's clear when you plug the two wires together that the colours are mismatched! Yah it's a bit of hassle but it's nothing scary in terms of fixing and it won't blow up if they're the wrong way round initially
  20. It's a big change! I still have to get the camera installed and I haven't found anywhere to put the gps antenna yet, need to find some map software with offline mode as google maps needs a connection (spoilt with here maps on my windows phone) I had to do the buster mode and now finding my volume is a bit loud but that's fixable. CD is so much nicer no skipping and jumping, equaliser is much nicer, everything is much nicer! It's a bit bright at night even in night mode so I'm wondering if I can override the brightness in another app or just have an app that's a black screen for night driving. Yah basically makes the car feel modern and up to date!
  21. With just the HU I found the volume was perhaps 50% too low vs the stock unit, but then only 1/2 the speakers were producing an output. As I said the HU only has front phono connections so I had to do the mod anyways I'm just wondering what the best solution is, it's really not practical to have the volume so loud early on. I guess either an app that modifies the volume range on the HU or find if the amp itself has some gain control, failing that a preamp volume control just to drop the input voltage.
  22. So I have my new HU installed and did the buster mod, but im finding the volume level is crazy, step one feels like its already 4-5. My HU only has front phono out so I had to do the mod anyway. I'd really like to reduce the volume by 50% or so. Does the cars main amp have a gain control on it or is it fixed? Even on low volume im hearing some static hiss louder than with the bose when no audio is being output.
