  1. Awesome sauce I need to sort my arms this year, There's a £10 difference between manufacturers, is there a perceived "best" or do people see them both equal?
  2. Yup, that's all it was, how annoying! The behaviour is almost identical except that when you turn the car off the radio shuts down vs just flicking off.
  3. yah annoyingly it looks like the wire colours are mismatched, from the incartec loom the yellow goes to the xtron red and vice versa. the yellow wire from the car is definitely constant voltage so I assume this is where the problem is. So out of all the cables on the incartech loom I bought only 2 are correct, can't understand why I bothered buying it, the facia doesn't fit either, waste of £50! Even the steering controls needed an extra cable :/ I'll get the soldering iron out tonight and swap em over
  4. Okies, I kind of hoped that they'd be ok since it starts and stops as expected, nevermind!
  5. Hi all, I'm part way through installing my xtrons head unit. All seems well (eventually, after realising the incartec wiring harness needs the ant conenction cut and attached with a bullet conenctor) however whenever I start the car it forgets the radio stations I scanned last time. The stereo turns on and off with ignition correctly and I don't seem to be able to turn the unit on when no key is inserted so I assume the red/yellow wires can be left in-swapped. Any thoughts?
  6. Hey, not sure if your around here, anyways we had a little chat in the carpark me with my red 350z and you with your lovely grey with some shiney new parts, just wanted to wave Love the wheels as well, wwhat make are they? really suit your car!
  7. Cool, has anyone changed the led displays so they don't have to be orange?
  8. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/XTRONS-TD696ADS-Android-5-1-Car-DVD-Player-Stereo-GPS-DVB-T-Digital-TV-Quad-Core-/262226582287?hash=item3d0dec1b0f:g:n9AAAOSwZVlXrWj3 weirdly on their website it doesn't list it in the Nissan section but I've no clue what that actually means! Looks pretty swish though
  9. This sounds beyond a DIY job? Only if you can't use a tube of RTV and a spanner. Sorry isn't the timing chain tucked away inside the engine? There's an inspection 'window' for the main tensioner, so you can get a rough idea of what's happening in there He's pointing at it here in the beginning: How accessible is that without taking apart large bits of car?

  11. This is exactly my point It was 8K when I bought it and I got 4K for my Clio at trade in so it was 4K to switch, there's nothing even remotely close to that price that interests me, even look at 15K the cars available don't offer anything special. So I'm left thinking why not spend 4-5k on new paint, new chairs, etc etc but to do that I want to go in eyes open about what mechanical costs I'm looking to incure in the next few years so what I get at the end is a good as new car. I'm not sure it's had a P3, it's had oil changes, probably needs coolant changes, I swapped both the belts last weekend. I guess I should look at a terra clean, new spark plus etc as well. To be honest I'm leaning towards self servicing it I was paying a lot for a service ~400 for what seems to have been oil changes basically and I'd rather do that myself and do everything correctly. Overall the plan is to do a new colour and a new interior and really make it special to keep for many years as it's a gorgeous car (red) and I love it to be honest Basically sounds like there's not much to worry about? Fix the niggles it has and move on to the big jobs!
  12. So my car's finally ticked over to 90K, it's a 54 plate and I've had it for 5-6 years now. The big decision.... do I sepnd money on doing it up (respray and refresh) or look at moving on (sadly ) What I want to understand is if I'm looking to keep the car for the next 3-5 years what should I be looking at? For example I know my banana arms need swapping, that's £500 right there just for parts. My exhaust is an NVidia and berk hfc's so hopefully they're sorted. Brake discs and pads have been replaced so should just be pads as needed. Callipers probably need tidying though. W brace is apparently starting to pick up corrosion so that's £150 ish for a new one. Clutch is original as far as I can tell so that's going to need a change. Before anything major I want to put it in for a good body work/rust inspection to make sure it's sound.
  13. Dang, I'd love to find me some of those!
  14. Love the cream seats, do you know the story behind them? They're custom right?
  15. is it possible to selectively swap pieces? ie the doorcards are standalone right? What about the lower centre console ie the handbrake area?
  16. I have this issue with my berks too and it annoys me I don't want it remapped and I hate clearing the light constantly. Clearly the 02 sensors are designed for no cats so surely a 1/2 size spacer would be more likely to give a better reading? I've never looked at the data but I'd guess the HFC's act as 1/2 a cat in terms of the sensor output, with a spacer then the levels swing to the other side? Is a half height spacer possible?
  17. I've berks and gemini and never had an issue, it gets MOT'd at a specialist garage so maybe they know how to prep the car correctly but never had problems in 4 years anyways
  18. Cool, this was the one I was thinking of http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/191896277578?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT So shouldn't be an issue to use a USB extension and put my usb ports somewhere more accessible for more immediate access. Do the usb ports support charging do you know? Where did you put your DAB adapter, behind the unit or somewhere towards the boot like the FM radio?
  19. Hi all, looking at finally swpaping out my head for a nice android one (probably the xtrons android one as everyone seems to rate it as the best?) However many of the optional extras such as wifi dongle or dab radio require usb plugs, I can't see where these are on the unit photos. Are they on the device or part of an optional wiring loom? I'd rather not have these things sticking out the front so I figured being able to put usb conectors in the armrest cubby would make it neat and simple!
  20. Indeed, but if they're plug and play then they are designed a certain way
  21. I'm sure this was answered before, when are they "on"? side lights or headlights or all the time?
  22. I'd absolutely get the redesigned ones for the older car if you could make it happen!
