  1. *ahem* BMW 330ci *ahem fast, sounds good, lots of weight to strip out, and if you keep it on standard road tyres its the sweetest drift machine you'll ever drive, just dances through corners. or go a bit more serious, £2.5k would get you a decent car, £400 on tyres, £200 on brakes and £400 on suspension, then you've have a very well sorted machine.
  2. We completed on our new gaff three weeks ago used a local solicitor, came reasonably well recommended, and their office is a whopping 10 minutes from my office, so easy to pop in at lunch. Though actually only needed to go in twice, which is almost a pity as my solicitor was very cute anyways, we went from offer acceptance to completion in just under 7 weeks, which aint bad at all. though there was no chain and the sellers were very keen to get the house shifted. Just sorting out a remortgage on my flat which should be going through today as well - then we have about another month of decorating before we move into house, then get tenants in to rent the flat.
  3. i put the s1 evo 2s on the rear of my 350z, and it was definitely a softer sidewall... think i whacked the pressure up to 38 psi to try and compensate, but i did get used to them after a little while and did trust that would grip when pushed.
  4. whoop trackday tomorrow! car is prepped and ready to go, gonna see how I get on with the front brake pads that are in there, but if they start squealing I have fresh ones I can fit at the track if needs be. look to be a lot of cars signed on, but Bedford is a big place, with a lower than usual chance of red flags, so should get some good running in
  5. can you read the code yourself first? that way you'll know what the problem is in advance, and thus if you're likely going to have to pay for it, surely it just needs someone with a code reader?
  6. how about one of those small iron on fabric patches for patching holes in trousers or the like? should blend in pretty well, and for the negligible cost its worth a DIY punt before taking more drastic measures?
  7. given the aggressiveness of the car in general i'd say a wing suits it however, it looks a bit weird having two on there... i'd lose the factory fit low spoiler, and keep the high wing.
  8. are you sure you don't mean 35 profile tyres? 275/45/R20 is a ginormous tyre...
  9. going to Japan for 3 weeks in mid may... wife has been 10 years ago and constantly says we should go, I've finally caved... its not that high on my list of places to go really... and I have no idea what to expect, but happy wife, happy life... and then after that I wanna do a nine day roadtrip round france, Belgium and Germany with wife and the in laws.
  10. yeah that'll be good - assuming they do a proper job of it and they're not racing mobility scooters or something silly.
  11. I love how much they trust Chris Harris... first the Vulcan, then the FXXK, then the Chiron... poor Rory not even getting a look in when it comes to the really quick stuff!
  12. I think wales will be better than the lakes, if that was close by. However, both the peaks and the lakes are known for having very narrow roads, wouldn't fancy taking a lambo really! How about the Cotswolds? not too far away, loads of great roads, and plenty of nice villages you can drive through and annoy the locals. from around Stratford down as far as Bath or so, plan your route around the network of B roads. PS sounds awful, hope you have a terrible time
  13. well in that case its GOOD NEWS! they're gonna do their show, so there will now essentially be two TG Americas!
  14. And how did he paint the ceiling? With stilton
  15. maybe run a square setup? you could put a 245/40/R18 on the front, which would keep a 3.6% difference to the rears so should keep the tcs happy. or alternatively a thicker rear anti roll bar would increase oversteer.
  16. I don't know about flying past... you'll definitely have the edge on the straights, but i'd be hoping to make it back in the corners! Will post a pic of the car sometime soon, but yeah, ratty silver 328i saloon with a few decals is what you're looking out for! Dan, that's a shame but makes sense, will keep the forum posted on the next date, which will likely be in july sometime.
  17. glad i managed to not have the result ruined for me! great to see ferrari on pace, taking the first win will be huge for the season to come. not the most interesting race in terms of overtakes, but china has plenty of opportunity so should be good.
  18. So, the silver surfer has passed its MOT! only needed a large hole in the floor welding up... but more importantly we're good to go for another year, though i've never had a track car make it to its second MOT, so dont hold your breath. Any more takers for Bedford on the 14th April? spring has definitely sprung, clocks change this weekend so there will be plenty of daylight for a full day of fast lapping. Dan, get the bummer involved, i'd love to see how the two cars compare - one with lots of power but lots more weight, the other with decent brakes and decent tyres, should be interesting!
  19. My favourite boxer would be the EJ20.
  20. I don't understand your thread either, but i'm contributing! after all, throwing in your opinion when you don't understand the question is what internet forums are all about! docwra, don't most cars change their suspension geometry as they get lowered???
  21. though the Atom when it came along was revolutionary, and hasn't really been bettered since (though the BAC Mono comes close)
  22. definitely not the Xbow the caterham can be the defining 'if it aint broke, don't fix it' car... conversely the Porsche 911 is the defining 'it IS broke, but still don't change it' car
  23. but then again, the Veyron followed a similar philosophy... maybe the Veyron can have the definitive 'pushing the boundaries' supercar... after all, a quad turbo W16 engine is unlikely to ever be repeated again (apart from in the Chiron)
  24. I will however give the Macca F1 the definitive 'pursuit of perfection' car - no other car has been so absolutely and meticulously engineered to be the very best it can, it was completely without compromise.
  25. I think the definite supercar is a Pagani Zonda... First car that Pagani made, gorgeous, completely unique styling, exquisite detailing, and obviously V12. I think the F40 was a defining turbo car, but not a defining supercar, a proper supercar needs a naturally aspirated V12, not a turbo'd V8.
