  1. Lewis has seemed a bit off pace for a while now... much as I hate to say it, I'm also betting on Nico for the championship. Which is annoying as I cant think of anyone who actually likes him! heres hoping for more even top three teams next year though!
  2. I think the F1 argument isn't really necessary... the cars sound crap cos no one wants a hybrid electric EKERS D-UMP C-RUD 1.6litre turbocharged V6 'power unit', we want a naturally aspirated V10 or V12, that revs to 18,000rpm. anywhos, while I agree that nimbys moving next to a track and then complaining about the noise is idiotic, its very unlikely to change, so i'd rather people just sorted their silencing out before they attempted to go on track. and if you cant sort your silencing for the quieter souther circuits, you'll have to travel further north! most MSV tracks are 102 - 105 Db static, and rockingham run a few unsilenced days. Personally if I knew I was likely to visit goodwood, castle combe, thruxton etc. the first thing id do before upgrading anything else on a car is check that it comfortably meets noise regs.
  3. Just noticed a 350z is on the attendance list, anyone on here? I'll be shaking down the new beemer, come say hello if you get a chance.
  4. emperor tuning is a trader on here now
  5. its definitely the profile... the TCS looks at individual wheel rotation speeds to determine if a wheel is slipping, so the correct ratio between front and rear tyre sizes is critical. in order to keep the TCS happy, either put a 40 profile on the front to match the back, or put a 45 profile on the back to match the front. personally, 265/40/18 sounds a bit of a weird size and thus hard to flog, so i'd flog the front 225/45/18s on here, and then buy a set of 245/40/18s which will match up ok to the rears. I'd really get it sorted sooner rather than later rather than putting up with it until the tyres are worn, as while its unlikely you will actually need TCS if you're running MPSS all round and don't drive that quickly, it only takes one patch of sludge and you're going backwards into a tree.
  6. slip light is coming on cos the rear tyres have a diameter too small (40 profile is too low), swap the tyres for a 245/45/18 and you'll be fine. or run with TCS off! handbrake, yeah, that's pretty crappy... leave it in gear/turn the wheels into a kerb when parking on a hill. cant really help with hill starts though! boot lifters - replace the gas struts if the boot wont hold itself up and tries to eat you, do the penny trick if you need to lift the boot while pressing the release button to get the boot to open. I used pennies, they didn't damage my car as far as I can see. I used 3p a side. cockpit getting hot - just use the a/c? I never turn the a/c off - in summer it keeps me cool, in winter it stops the inside misting up all the time. and a 3.5 litre V6 has plenty of power that it can run an a/c pump no problems, and it keeps the a/c in better shape to running it all the time.
  7. SGS engineering for the struts, penny/washer trick for the initial pop. those two should sort you out
  8. it'll likely be a lifetime warranty for the original owner - would be very surprised if it was transferable. although that said, you have proof of purchase of an exhaust now, so wait a year or so then send the broken one back and claim a replacement?
  9. not that i'm going to be buying them, but any chance you could weigh one of them? interested to see how the weight compares to the BMW MV1s I have on the track car at the moment, and if its something I should consider changing in the future. And the ability to run a 255/35/18 front tyre would be quite nice!
  10. indeed, start saving for a new engine, but no point swapping it in until the current one goes bang. even if it uses one litre of oil for every tank full of petrol, its still only an extra fiver each fill up.
  11. blimey did someone lose it down the back of the sofa for 5 years?!? that's gonna be a hard sell for £12k, when you can get a 370z with similar mileage for not much more.
  12. hmm, that looks like a perfectly normal car to me... an by that I mean if I saw it driving down the street, it doesn't scream electric vehicle like most of them do. and 200 mile range is plenty, if you've got the means to charge easily on a driveway at home, I see no reason why people wouldn't move out of a small petrol engined Kia/Hyundai/Chevrolet/Dacia and into one of these.
  13. 'grumble' is a strange adjective... we're used to whirring, hissing, clunking, whining, but grumble just sounds like the missus is unhappy with your driving style! does the noise change with engine speed, or road speed, or neither? might be your exhaust is starting to split near the back box, that would start getting a lot louder and bassier, and would be related to engine load as well as engine speed. Get a friend to rev the car while you're inspecting the rear of the exhaust, I suspect engine noise would mask exhaust noise if you rev it yourself while under the bonnet.
  14. no, cat D is the least severe, but still something worthy of writing the car off. could be a simple matter of being keyed across three panels and those panels being too costly to replace, or a crash of some kind. But the important thing to know is why it was written off, and make your own mind up. I'd agree a bodykit could be as a result of a crash, but regardless of the reason for the Cat D, unless you're a particular fan of the kit, i'd be looking at clean standard cars.
  15. I presume you're particularly keen on the bodykit? its not to my tastes but im not the one buying the car. Persoally if you did go look at it, i'd want to see really good documentation about why its a CAT D and what repair work was carried out and by who. And then if you did like it i'd start with a really lowball offer, like £3.5k as I think you'd be doing the seller a huge favour by buying his car - he's going to have a very limited buying market considering its a CAT D with an OTT bodykit.
  16. yeah, cant see a major problem getting that repaired, take it somewhere else.
  17. painter and decorator? watch out you don't become a JOATMON!
  18. WYSIWYG... I love Dans acronym guessing games... I managed to work this one out I think, What You See Is What You Giraffe, right?
  19. oooof £9,500! that's a lot of money for an 04 with 50k on the clock. i'd definitely sell the wheels separately and put standard rays back on, and then lower the price to £7k. IMO the only mod that actually adds value is the wheels, everything else is just cosmetics. If you part everything out you'd sell everything a lot easier.
  20. well that's the thing, you only ask the father cos he's the male figure, head of the household, etc etc. because the whole tradition stems from when women were second rate and you had to ask about things man to man. The mother wouldn't get a look in. <19thcentury>in fact why bother asking the bride to be at all, say you've already spoken to her father and he says its ok, so we're getting married! after all, women can't be trusted to come to decisions on their own, father knows best. </19thcentury>
  21. Another thing, I think my wife to be would want to be the one who told her parents that she was engaged! its her big news, she would want to tell them without them already knowing. Actually, I didn't tell anyone I was planning to propose, the only person who knew I was planning to pop the question was the person I bought the ring from.
  22. i didnt ask my future father in laws permission. i briefly considered it, but i didnt see it as relevant this day and age. we'd been together for ages, shes perfectly capable of making her own decision about whether im right for her. perhaps if we were very young or hadnt known each other or he was particularly protective of his daughter, but we'd been living together for the last 6 years away from home, if he objected then he'd had plenty of time to make his feelings known!
  23. I didn't think they'd pull it off to be fair, had a distinct whiff of a lack of preparation! but to finish how he did was a great achievement. looking forward to this sundays show!
  24. oooh acceleras... I remember when I had a car that had them on... hope you had more luck with them than I did!
  25. hankook ventus V12s get my vote
