  1. ah ok, didn't realise it came with the car. I'd just flog it on and buy something louder if it isn't the one for you. but i'd steer clear of bypassing/removing the backbox - it'll certainly be louder, but you'll lose a lot of the tone. although if its just a bolt on job, by all means take it off and see how you get on! EDIT to add, on a related note, I just did a backbox delete on my bmw track car, and had a straight bit of pipe welded in its place - certainly louder and deeper on start up, but no tone! however it is a lot lighter and might release an extra pony or two, both of which are good things for a track car.
  2. price drop, would take a nice round £7k for it.
  3. Also, whats the point in having a milltek exhaust if you're going to cut off the bit that makes it a milltek? if you're considering removing the backbox its clearly not the exhaust for you!
  4. the decats will be causing the rasp, but with a full milltek system being so quiet you wont hear the rasp much. start taking bits out of the milltek and the rasp will come through. I definitely wouldn't go butchering the backbox, a decatted exhaust with just a centre resonator will sound awful, it'll be really loud, raspy and no tone at all, it'll just be noise. personally, i'd start again. put the standard cats back in to kill the rasp, then swap the milltek for something louder, like a buddyclub or an ark, or get something custom made.
  5. looking forward to seeing this back on track! If you need a competent driver to test drive it once you've finished engineering it let me know!
  6. if you're gonna bin them rather than try and sell them on, perhaps cut a coil out of the springs? (do so at your own risk, obviously)
  7. how about people who buy cars purely to sell them on a month later at double the price(ahem, Porsche 911-R)? what would you do to them?
  8. gonna be hard to put a price on these without knowing the date of manufacture. someone might want them if they're less than 3-4 years old, any older and you'd likely only sell them to a drifter.
  9. absolutely, a well sorted MX5 will be streets ahead of a C63 round a circuit, thats what you meant right? a c63 will be fast along the straights. and thats it. slow on the brakes because it weighs the best part of two tonnes, slow through the corners because it'll be on road tyres, and have so much torque if you even look at the throttle funny it will go sideways.
  10. yep would want to know the date stamp on these, suspect they'll be 5 years old or so!
  11. Anti lag FTW! though if you do that you WILL be rebuilding engines and turbos every week.
  12. Is any consideration made for hot and cold braking performance? cos a race compound pad may perform very well when hot, but may not work at all well when cold, which is the circumstances under which the majority of braking on the road occurs.
  13. Sent from my HTC One M9 using Tapatalk You should defo give them a call to get an explanation on how longer gearing would reduce your top speed. most cars top speeds are limited by air resistance and engine power, not the gearing (very few cars can hit maximum rpm in top gear, the gearing is optimised for economy whilst cruising). anything that lengthens the gearing will make it harder for a car to reach its maximum speed, and ultimately, that maximum speed will be slightly lower. EDIT: unless you lengthen the gearing so much that the top speed is now reached in maximum rpm in 5th gear, rather than midway through 6th gear, in which case the top speed might go up a tad (though it will take longer to get there)
  14. someone will buy them, just start them at 99p, no reserve, you might only get a fiver for them, but that's better than a kick in the teeth.
  15. As you might know i'm selling my BMW 335i for something more economical, and with a few more doors, but the same amount of torque, so a 330d. I've had the car since June 2015, been faultless in my ownership, no concerns with anything. It was remapped by Angel Tuning of Banbury in November last year and is running around 360bhp and 360lbft. So its quite rapido! Full service history, decent GY tyres all round, 6 speed auto box with flappy paddles. Lovely montego blue exterior, cream leather interior with gloss black trim. Its currently on ebay and pistonheads, current asking price is £7,900, though will listen to reasonable offers. Link to Pistonheads advert containing all the photos and info: http://www.pistonhea...---2006/6358179 I imagine this is a more popular place to buy 350zs but if you know anyone who might be interested feel free to message me. EDIT seems you dont get much advertising for your money on ebay, its expired already. so replaced with pistonheads link. Still very much for sale.
  16. i still don't really get it... say I have a friend with a Ferrari, and we plan to do a month long tour of Scotland where we'll both be driving. But his policy will not let me be added as a second driver because i'm too young. However, a different insurer is prepared to offer me a quote on the car, but i'm not allowed to take it because then we'll have two policies for the same car? And also, surely everyone who buys a secondhand car has to insure it without knowing whether the previous owner has cancelled their insurance or not? or does it not matter because the previous owner would now be very unlikely to make a claim?
  17. Really? so if I want to buy insurance to drive a friends car for a year, but they already have insurance for it, I can't buy a second policy on it? genuine question, I can't see what the problem would be?
  18. hmmmm must resist, this would be way better than the s2000 I was considering buying, cheaper too. just out of interest, is that 200whp or estimated 200 at the crank?
  19. surely just sand it down and reapply? a paint run isn't the end of the world, relatively easy to sort out. remember, lots of thin coats with paint, preparation is the key!
  20. might wanna just double check the date of manufacture, in case its an old one.
  21. dont buy a 300zx. especially not for £14k. just dont.
  22. it was a little busy along the A9 and A99 to Thurso and John O Groats, but the real good stuff is on the north west coast, which was quiet. To be honest if I went again I wouldn't bother with the entire NC500 route, i'd just set up base camp in Kyle of Lochalsh or Ullapool, miss out the east coast and spend more time on the west coast.
  23. wow stunning photos! we did the trip about 3 months ago with a load of zeds, though weather wasn't quite as good as you had it it seems! little bit disappointed to see the local council has removed all the stickers from the Road to Applecross sign - it used to be pretty much covered in stickers from all the car clubs that had driven it. Also, second to last picture... congrats your gf looks mighty fine from the rear. There i've said it now, lets move on with our lives
  24. lol im still confused... so we're talking an undercoat here... and the difference between coating the underside of a car in used motor oil, or instead using new waxoil? or is it not motor oil at all?!?
  25. pardon? if you mean the garage has asked if they can replace your engine oil with used oil, then no. why on earth would you put old oil in it? how would fresh old oil be any different from the old oil that's currently in it? I'm well confused.
