    Tool Set

One thing about Halfords is that they do great tools. I still have some Halfords own brand tools that are over 20 years old, still going strong. If anything, quality is even better these days. That set should be fine
  2. Yep single mass fly is the culprit. The bucket of nails in a tumbledryer sound between 1-2K rpm appears to be perfectly normal and not anything to worry about (I know it sounds broken)! I was astounded when I went from DMF to SMF - even using an expensive non-eBay Competition Clutch clutch/fly. Try to keep the revs over 2k and avoid lugging. Single mass clutch/fly is a nicer drive when flowing, just a pig at low speed/rpm.
  3. Yes - sorry Gareth - thread invasion whilst you are out at work Arduino thingy - maybe good, maybe pants, just slightly more than a twinkling now as I have it half working. It's a small coloured screen with 7 sensors (both mapped non-linear and modelled linear, including 2 AFR with narrowband system checking to backup the wideband reading) on the go, but purely digital. I will plonk something in my thread when I'm further along...
  4. If you put them up for sale, I'm sure they will fly out of your hands quicker than a dry microfibre falling off a freshly waxed door panel However, I have other plans in the form of home-baked Arduino. Fickle? moi?
  5. And that's the very reason I'm putting off selling mine for as long as I can, because I just know as soon as they're gone I'll need (read want) them for something. Oh ex-shiny Darth Vader, expert cleaning one - Mmmm glowy goodness.. - you're saying you've got Defis for sale? *ears prick up* Only kidding..
  6. I have one too.. no gasket came with it, but *says very quietly* I reused the old OEM gasket, because gaskets are good things. No leaks, works fine
  7. Made me laugh (I saw it - bendy arm language - drifting towards IBTL though)
  8. We have a joint account which we both pay into for household expenses. We both have individual accounts for salary and personal money - my car is way more expensive to run than her Honda, whereas she has beauty/womanly treatments and such things - I obviously do not - so it seems wrong to load each other with the 'burden' of our own extravagances. I like beer a lot too, so have to pay for that separately Seems to work for us - married 10years, together for 18.
  9. Very interesting - I'm sure all of us from the UK Zed Vortech supercharger (or in my case nearly supercharged) fan club also have dreams of forging at some point Good luck with the re-build! Nice brakes too
  10. I reckon she's a Super 7 customer
  11. There were some wry smiles and wtf? from everyone who saw it, it must be said
  12. Gareth - you are funny - I had to share This was the 'present' I got from you through the post (Vortech Airfilter inside) this morning... Quality Made me giggle
  13. It's great when you get going, although I found with mine that I have big progress sometimes, but with large gaps of inactivity in-between. I'm itching to unstick my current hiatus - last 10% seems to be taking 90% of the time - but thats all due to scheduling conflicts rather than actual technical issues* Have you pushed on with your Arduino Due yet? I have started dabling with mine, and have been coding the display, including getting a ton independant of sensors together.. *although ostrich sticks head in the sand and ignores potentially scary gearbox noises..
  14. Nice colours I do like braided pipes.
  15. As others have said, £1800 is way beyond credibility. All the service items listed are trivial, and you supplied nearly all replacement parts. Shame on them (who ever they are).
  16. Possible dibs on airfilter..
  17. Hey Gareth - have a *super* birthday. See what I did there?
  18. ^^ This entirely in my opinion. A large amount of life time is spent in cars commuting - it might as well be zedding - otherwise it's driving time wasted! So it costs a fair bit, but so does anything nice. Drive, enjoy, mod, maintain, repeat in my opinion Anyway it could be worse - I often see swish, German more than any other (usually Mercs and older fast BMWs) broken down on my route - I'm sure they had a nice drive in pious luxury until the light came on and the engine stopped going at the most inconvenient late for work or broken down on the way home
  19. Was 28 MPG to the nearest 0.5 for my 64 mile a day commute, then I started with the *project*.. which meant driving slowly (smooth 2750 RPM max), so I got 31 average. Smooth and slow has since got old, as testing has gone well, and as the *project* has progressed (now with unmapped HFC) it's about 25MPG. When the s/c belt finally goes on... I hope it doesn't go down to 12 MPG on a daily basis
