As some of you may be aware there have been various issues around communication and customer service with Team Tarmac arising from the recent louvre product - as a result of lengthy discussion the team have taken the action to suspend Team Tarmac's trader status on the forum indefinitely. We would like to stress that Team Tarmac and its services are in no way affiliated with Tarmac Sportz who continue to trade as normal as a pro-trader on the forum. We are aware that Team Tarmac have not logged into the forum for more than 6 weeks so if any member have any outstanding disputes with Team Tarmac please continue to attempt to contact through the Team Tarmac website//FB page/contact details you have currently.

Mine went through clear at 21 years old, remember an MoT is not a test of every nook and cranny, its a check list of mostly perishables. I always spend the day with my dad (car mechanic of 50 years) a week before and MoT going over my car with a fine tooth comb and changing out all the parts that look like they are on the way out. It's painful and a bit boring but its important.

Well done, if it falls through let me know and I will unlock it.

Ha I never noticed! I actually read it on tapatalk and never noticed the date!

Have mine for ten grand!

Just out of interest, is there any reason why pretty much all the products you recommend are all products you can buy off the shelf at Halfords? Have you tested any of the stuff that can pretty much only be purchased online? Such as Gtechniq, Dodo Juice, Poorboys etc?

I got rid of mine to buy the Z, for a Ford, way too expensive on parts. Mine cost me £950 for a clutch and fly, £480 for a F'ing alternator ! The steering rack was on its way out and the driveshafts were ready for changing, add in the fact it hated starting when hot. Was looking at another £800-900 to put it right Trade in time.... Bye ! Got a £1000 off the Z for it Hope it wasn't mine you got.... @Coldel One of these ? http://www.classicca...g-mot-tax-1977/ Would have to be the GT not the ST, slightly wider tyres, and you got yourself a rather nice looking car

Loving that RB Boss kit - yes a charger would be great but its going to be £25k+ for anything reasonable and LHD. I am really keeping my eye open for an RA28 Celica (sorry gotta love em!)

They tested an ST205 in the above mentioned test, so a bit unfair in terms of real era (Integrale came along first) - it was a bit of a funny read as I know the guy they borrowed the GT4 from for the test and the reporters testing it said it was a tremendous drive after climbing out stating the grip really was something else, then in the article didn't mention that at all and raved about the Integrale. I guess you cannot always believe what you read in the press there will always be an angle to the article they want to achieve. Doesn't sound so good saying a boring Toyota wins
-
Well you could say the same of the Integrale, many are rusting away falling apart, Lancia were hardly known for solidity back in the day. GTiR from what I understand is a lightweight car with a lump in it from an S13, so would expect it to be quick as the chassis weighs very little (and by all accounts is also prone to falling apart) I remember looking at these briefly before getting the R33 and apart from Ricey telling me I would be a chav for getting one, the forums mentioned the awfully unreliable transmission so I moved away from the idea. I struggle a little to believe a GTiR is the be all and end all of 90s rally cars, or even the Integrale which got comprehensively outdone by Toyota/Subaru/Mitsubishi most years. All that said, the Integrale is a rather special car. I think it was Perfomance Classics or some magazine of that name I read an article comparing the Integrale/Cosworth/GT4 and Integrale won on what the reviewer prefered but it was not night and day like you might think.

Pug 205 GTi is an all time great legendary car Anyway you both got it wrong, go back a couple more years and get a Lancia Stratos

Sometimes a gear oil change (use Nissan oil) along with some molyslip can help - but sounds something a bit more substantial to me?

Usually synchros, quite a lot of threads on this issue already reported, have a search (either via google or via the search button top left) and you should turn up all the previous discussion on this.

You could always get a tape measure out and measure it. Have you looked at the wheel on the other side?
-
Given the really unlikely chance of someone having a single used Rota wheel for sale, in the right size. I would advise you speak with Rarerims and/or Tarmac Sportz both of whom stock many Rota wheels and are traders on here.

Celica GT-Four for the win

Its not shall we say, useful, to blank out thread titles and content. The forum works in a way to allow owners to search an understand more about their cars and services associated with it. Having threads blanked leaves the forum cluttered and full of confusing topics - please can this not be done in future.

I get that, I guess our points are somewhat exclusive, in that clearly that car is overpriced there is no denying that as the market dictates this if you go and look at (even better) R34s which are cheaper. However as you said, some people have more money than sense and will blindly see Nismo everywhere and throw the cash about.
-
I guess my point was that the second you pay £80k for this car, you have lost money. I have not seen an R34 limited edition go for £80k yet, £60k at a push, they probably imported that one for £50k 2 years ago. My point was not anything to do with dream cars vs something else, if you paid £80k for this you are being ripped off in my opinion, as mentioned its not even the later better spec'd Nur edition. If some 'dreamer' bought it for £80k and then sold it again in 6 months time they would probably lose a lot of money on it. These are just not valued at £80k at the moment from what I can see, and the ad is trying to blind you with endless Nismo additions when in fact most are low value items with no impact on performance or desireability like rad caps and the like. You can buy a V-spec II or Nur for substantially less and have your dream car still.
-
But you can buy and build that spec for less than £50k - £35k GTR plus £15k on the modifications and you are there. There is no dream vs waste to be had here? You are paying something like £25k-£30k premium for a limited edition. Its like someone buying a £10k zed, spending £20k on it in mods and selling it for £40k?

ITBs sound fantastic on smaller engines, the ITB route on the VXs was pretty pricey but god its sounds good - first thing that pops up on youtube with vx220 and itb

Fallen in love....and put myself in a real dilemma!
coldel replied to Kraziekatz1's topic in Off Topic Discussion
You will always have the comforts of being in a road going car even in something like an MX5, get in a lotus/VX and really experience driving, every petrolhead should do it once in their life. That engine roaring just a few inches behind you, a turn in that will tear your face off, a seating position that seems like it slings you into the firing chamber of a gun. Nothing really comes close for under £100k. -
Just to put some perspective on the whole mates forgetting you thing, in most cases when you have a child it takes up 110% of your life for the first 6 months, then about a year in you are also fighting hard to get your own life back to some sort of level where you do things for yourself. Not saying all your mates are not guilty, but having children does often mean you have so little free time often you choose to spend it on yourself rather than others - and I wouldn't blame people in the slightest for doing so. Its nothing personal. But as advised, people go through stages in their life and friends come and go, you just need to find the right ones for the right time of your life right now. It sounds harsh but with all the sympathy sometimes reality needs to give you a kick up the backside, take back control of your life, take corrective measures that suit you, set yourself goals, achieve them, move on and have a great life.
