  1. i just read your entire thread from the link. WOW what a build. your attention to detail is brilliant. i havent been able to watch the vids yet as im at work. well i say work, i have spent most of the day reading about your car top job mate
  2. Just stumbled across this and it looks interesting. Any progress in the alst month?
  3. yeah all the fixed stuff was very annoying as it was so blatently set-up. that said i was on my arse laughing at jeremy's method of testing the snow depth
  4. Dr colourchip looks good. allthough i never bother to detail in the wintery months. it's too depressing when all your hard work is undone after one drive out. i have a Megs clay bar kit to have a go with when the weather perks up, as well as the usual polish and wax gubbins.
  5. sounds like you are all happy so far. shame i have missed this, but having just bought the Z and some rather pricey tyres i dont think i would have got in on time anyway. plus i would want to get a few mods on first. the main thing i would be looking to gain from an uprev is to have the restrictions removed. couple of questions. after the map does the engine run at full potential in all gears?or do they just raise the limit a bit? and does the uprev remove the 155mph limiter?
  6. I was searching for a car and for straight line performance, grip, handling, steering feel, reliability, exclusivity looks and of course - noise the 350Z was a no-brainer. to get a similarly aged equally performing car, you would struggle to get something as good for twice the price. its main Rival is the MK1 audi TT, which is just a golf 1.8t/R32 with a different body on. it drives no-where near as well as the Z. other things i considered were an RX8 - the engine didnt push my buttons and the styling is a bit love one day hate the next for me, S2000. - looks a bit girly and again engine is another 4-pot screamer. possibly a skyline import - a bit tacky for one in my price range and couldnt be arsed with the hastle of an import. the 350z is the bargain of the century. you get so much car for your money. i don't regret buying mine one bit!
  7. my mate has a baby blue micra 1.2 - the newer shaped one. allthough i feel like a complete bellend if im ever seen in it, i must admit, as a run-around it is awesome. i just dont get why they styled it like that. it is as brilliant for nippiness and practicallity as it is rediculous to look at. Nissan, what were you thinking?
  8. Its in an autocar i was reading the other day. aparently the looks were based on the 370z. the next Z car is likely to take some of its styling features. i only think electric cars will take off if they discover an alternate means of storing charge and charging quickly. i think james may said when he drove the hydrogen fuel cell honda, the car of the future must be like the car of today. our lives are built around impulsively being able to drive wherever and whenever we want to, with only short stops to take on fuel. having to plan every journey as well as making sure you leave enough time to charge it up before you next want to use it would mean a complete change in lifestyle. also so-called green cridentials about electric cars are a load of "£$% you can do a lot more to save the planet by buying locally sourced foods than you ever could by using a hybrid or electric vehicle. - this is what a family member of mine who works for english nature told me when i asked her if she despised me for buying a V6 sports coupe. The only reason that motorists get all the stick for climate change and energy consumption is because they are an easy target. so next time someone scouls at you for driving your Z. just tell them that you source all of your food locally and it is them who is destroying the planet. then you can get back on your high horse as you leave them in a cload of smoke and exhaust noise. WOW. i have gone seriousley ahh well, guess i just like ranting about clueless know-all hippes
  9. Just google 'Amber heard the informers' with safe search off. And not at school..... thanks for the warning too. lol BMW M3 over rs5 any day. rs5 doesnt get very good reviews as a 'drivers car'. they all say its very numb and understeery. Allthough i wouldnt buy a car in that section of the market without test driving the insane C63 AMG. maybe not as composed as the Beemer but everytime i see a road test video, its allways being driven sideways in a massive cload of smoke and V8 Thunder by a road tester wearing the biggest grin you've ever seen. anyway. back to the Bi-sexual hotty. where's that image search button again?
  10. My Z is my daily car. the last few weeks i have been on a course and the drive there is on a rather exciting road.... fuel bills However, i do find myself laughing all the way so that more than makes up for it. back at work now which is a 6 min blast from home to collect my van so i will be able to afford heating again i did consider getting myself a little old shed car to use but i quickly wrote this idea off as i know that i will never use it with my zed parked there. Anyway, V6 howling with windows down is the best way to wake myself up in the morning, and i can set off a min or so later... Zed everytime. the only problem is that considering we are only a small company, there are 3 of use at work with silly cars. me, one with a 2.7 boxter, and another with a Z4 M Coupe. needless to say that when we all are at HQ at the same time, we try to stagger them around the car park a bit when the big bosses of our customers come in. don't want to look like we charge them too much
  11. I would go for a full set all round. there is nothing like the feeling you get from driving with brilliant new rubber all round. i recently got some PS3s - they were quite a bit cheaper than the pilot supersports (the replacement for the PS2) but are more of an all weather tyre as opposed to the PSSs mainly summer focus. they are fantastic in every way, i had RE040s on the front before and the PS3s are leagues ahead. they also perfrom fantastically in the wet and feel and feedback is very confidence inspiring. Falkens are ok, but are by no means a performance tyre. but unless you like to go teararsing around like your hairs on fire then it might be wirth saving the cash. on the other hand if you do like going fast tyres will give you the best performance/cost so its worth getting decent ones. sure you will make the choice that suits you best.
  12. still holding out hope but i actually flicked over the channel last night allthough i dont like the way they hardly review any cars anymore, i still normally find it entertaining. But last night was so pathetically fixed, i actually started to feel a bit sorry for the presenters as their blatently set-up gags failed to entertain anyone i was watching with... oh dear at least EVO are doing some good video reviews and car related features these days. Check out this one of Francois Delacor tearing round the Route Napoleon:
  13. When i bought my Z it had different brands front and back and the TCS was grabbing at my wheels all the time. now with all 4 Decent same brand tyres the problem has gone. but the starting routine of my Z is clutch in, turn key, Turn off traction control, so i don't have this problem. Hope u get it sorted mate
  14. here's a good'en. not sure how real it is though
  15. i have also got some new tyres on now which has relaxed any worries i had about there being some suspension troubles. it was so bad before hand and thee car feels like it has been given a complete overhaul. the new tyres are michelin PS3s. i have put a post up on "Tyre guide: post your tyre review here" if you want to have a little read about them. - i was rather giddy when i wrote this review after coming back from an amazing drive out.
  16. The pilot sport 3s are amazing. loads of grip and the Z now feels perfectly planted and stable, even at speeds that im not aloud to quote on the internet. Had them fited around lunch time and since then i have driven though wet and dry roads and some puddles. they have performed brilliantly in every case. On the limit, and a bit beyond it the feedback is fantastic. i know excactly what the car is about to do. also the tyre roar has reduced a LOT! up until today i thought there was something seriousley wrong with my Z. it just turns out that the combination of half worn 040s on the front and new Kaiser ditchfinders on the back, which is how the car was when i bought it, was making the car wobbly, slippery, noisy, unpredictable and dangerous. - i actually thought that i might have som seriousley worn bushes the drive was so bad. the fact that i have put 40 profile tyres on instead of the usual 45 has had no effect on the TC (allthough i dont have it on very often) and i imagine them being slightly lower profile has just enhanced the amazing change that the Z has been through today. Verdict on the Michelin PS3s - fantastic tyre and the price isnt too bad either. obviousley i can't compare them to the PS2s as i have never used them, but i think most drivers will chicken out before the PS3s give way. on top of this i fitted my Pop-charger just before taking it to get the tyres fitted. car now sounds like a propper V6 rather than a bit of a dreary old tired one. Needless to say i have had a very fun afternoon, finally being able to drive my Z how its meant to be driven. Is this improvement worth the £650 that it cost to change all 4 tyres. without a doubt yes, and if you cant afford it, go and sell one of your kidneys. it really is worth it!
  17. The used BMW thing was just boring. They could have easily fit another couple of reviews in. it's not like theres a shortage of performance cars to review. i was hoping that they would do a review on the GT2RS at some point this series, as its been out for about the right amount of time that they take to reiview cars. lotus evora S, 570 superleggera? guess i'll just have to keep buying mags and immagine how they sound and look on the track.
  18. I have had may Z for about 3 weeks and these appear to be the same problems that i am experiencing. There seems to be too much body roll and the body roll is rather erratic. Also high speed stability and the feel of being planted are far from ok. The crappy tyres that came on the car are coming off over the next few days as they too have terrible grip and give very little feedback. as well as being mismatching front to rear. As described in some of the replies here, the ARB at the rear feels disconnected and doesnt seem to be having much affect on the suspension at all so i suspect i may have the worn drop-link problem. There appears to be no servicing carrried out in this area on the cars history so i guess it will be a good place to start. This thread has been very helpful
  19. i may be. i feel that there is some chassis work needed to be done as the car does seem to have more body roll than i was expecting. whether this is because my last car had uprated anti-roll bars and im just acting spoilt i'm not sure. looking into a mod like this but i have a feeling i would want some anti-roll bars first
  20. im looking at exhaust systems at the moment. is there any benefit of having a true dual besides bragging rights? i have just been thinking about getting De-cats and maybe a cat back system.
