  1. It's a small world in zed land Chriag - I believe your cousin is mates with an old neighbour of mine from when I was living in Isleworth, SW London. He's a chap called Ketan, but his surname escapes me atm! Hope you like the new exhaust
  2. Good luck with the search - sure you'll find a nice zed soon Also, maybe just a typo in your post but you'll need a pre-06 plate to be sure of being in the lower tax band. '06s registered before 23/3/06 are ok, but after that and you're looking at £475 for 12 months road tax (mine is the wrong side of this date by a few days!).

    M3 e90

Thinking about the E92 myself atm. Not sure if you've already been on there but the m3 cutters forum has some good info on them (specs, known issues etc). Most seem to take the extended bmw warranty for peace of mind, which seems to be c£70 a month for as long as you have the car. It's supposed to be pretty good and covers most stuff aside from te obvious 'wear and tear' items
  4. You did the right thing buddy. Nothing would be achieved by lamping the guy and you and your Mrs could have got hurt if he'd had said blunt instrument/other weapon. Some people are just douchebags and there's nowt you can do about it (unfortunately). Just have to hope this tool doesn't kiil someone one of these days with his idiotic driving. Glad you guys escaped unscathed
  5. I don't really see how you can use x% of your salary as a guide on purchase price. For example you could go out and buy a B7 RS4 or a new diesel repmobile for a similar price (i.e. same % of salary) but one would cost a lot more to run than the other.............. To see if I can afford to run a car I always do a rough calc of running costs based on research then add a bit more for contingency. If that leaves enough for bills/food/beer/holidays etc then buy buy buy!
  6. +1 sounds to me like the council worker the OP's mate spoke to was voicing their owns views about who these houses will go to, rather than actual fact.

    Oil light?

+ 2, engine only takes c1.5 litres from bottom to top mark I think? Depends when OP last checked their oil as to whether there's a drinking problem though?
  8. You're looking at very very budget new rims and tyres for that price (actually I don't think you'd manage to find anything??). Assuming the wheels in the pic are the actual ones you're thinking of buying 2nd hand? Looks like they all have Michelin tyres on which is a good start. Personally I would sleep on it and maybe save up some more cash, take your time and find something you're sure about
  9. I thought they were horrible when I first looked, but actually, they're growing on me! Remind me a bit of the old 4-spoke wheels you used to get on Escort RS2000s
  10. Go oakley custom, then you can design them how you like +1
  11. No experience of Pioneer headunits, but my Kenwood is not great (DNX 9260BT). Screen colour sometimes goes flaky after having the removable face off, sluggish user menus, and it's been back to manufacturer once to fix another screen freezing/crashing issue. I'll never buy another Kenwood head unit again personally. Would probably go with Sony myself as I've had/got a lot of their stuff and it's always top quality.

    Wheel nuts

It's interesting to see a lot of people recommend Mutekis. Maybe I'm expecting a bit much but mine have been on the car for maybe a year, off once and are looking pretty rusty and shabby - last winter seemed to kill them Tempted to go for some (admittedly much more expensive) Rays Duralumin nuts to replace them at some point.
  13. Good god that's crazy money. Have you thought about a set of these from Tarmac? Fairly similar design http://www.ssr-wheel.../ms1_181920.asp
  14. You can't go wrong with silver ('tis what colour my SSRs are on a blade coupe), but if you're going for a colour scheme for future mods (e.g. engine bay) then a more 'out there' colour to match that might look good.
  15. I assume you're getting 19" rims OP? They'll look awesome with the offsets KyleR has mentioned Make sure you put some pics up! +1 for MPSS tyres too.
  16. Sorry to hear your zed was written off OP, but add a bit more dosh to what you got from the insurance and you can get into a pretty nice R32 GTR
  17. Those are the bad boys - very tasty
  18. As I recall, Ian had some nice aftermarket mirrors on his zed. Not sure what they were though. Zed_lover, the plate on your car looks familiar. Coldel's old motor?
  19. Fixed You must be a OEM zed owner! Shame Heheh nah I've done a few bits (see sig) but don't get the whole 'suspension has collapsed' look! Each to their own though
  20. Apart from the Do-Luck(?) wing I quite like it. The Veilside kit is infinitely worse IMO Daft price though............

    A work of Art

Very nice indeed What lug nuts are they btw?
  22. SuperStu, the power gains that are due to the exhaust are basically all in the y-pipe and are pretty small. You basically buy a replacement zed exhaust for the sound and the improvement in quality. That said OP, I would do some more research - CS has already mentioned uprev, which is well worth getting but only once you have finalised supporting mods
