  1. Nice mod! Oddly enough i did the exact same thing in my old Ford Puma which i had to dismantle when i got the Z. Having read this, i'm really tempted to put it back in again!
  2. i'll go give it a shot in a bit - hopefully by cordless landline will work by the car as i'm going to have to test it on my own!
  3. yeah i've tried all that maybe the mic's not working...
  4. I've recently bought a bluetooth adapter from R800NER and have got it all installed and have paired my phone (HTC HD2) succesfully. I can't however, seem to get the voice stuff to work - at all. I've followed both guides posted here viewtopic.php?t=8312 and nothing.... Pressing and holding the speak button (left) brings up "phone" on the stereo, but regardless of any commands i seem to give it, it does nothing. Am I missing something or does it sound like the mic isn't working? (i'll try calling myself later to test the mic - but i'm interested to see if i'm missing anything obvious).
  5. i've found the the latest bout of cold weather has caused mine to stick a little. it will open a little, but occasionally the release button needs to be pressed again while opening. damn cold weather. when will it end!
  6. if there's only a cable, then you'll probably have to fork out for a bury kit as the bluetooth adapter sits in the nokia cradle instead of a phone. if you've not got the cradle in the cubby behind the gear leaver, then the adapter wont fit If that's the case, i'm not sure where you stand in regards to aftermarket stuff working with the steering wheel controls, but i'm almost positive it's possible. Hopefully someone that knows more about this stuff than i do can help
  7. that's a DVI to VGA adapter... as far as i'm aware, nothing to do with the phone kit
  8. that sucks i guess it's the price you pay for not having fully comp insurance... good luck getting your 350z (i don't even want to know what your premium on that is going to be!)
  9. despite not being a fan of it; gotta love how all that money, time and effort has been put into that car, yet the stock bose remains...
  10. i had both the original metal iphone and the 3g and was utterly disappointed with the latter. The build quality just seemed really low as just about all of them develop cracks on the back of the case. I have since got an HTC HD2 which i really like and hopefully will be upgradeable to the newly announced Windows Phone Series 7
  11. Hah! I'm skint so I'll have to owe you lol
  12. hah! well, i think i'll tighten mine one notch as it feels like i'm about to pull the whole thing out of the center console just to stop it rolling down the hill round the corner while i'm waiting for the lights. was going to say something about 350z owners having a left arm much bigger than their right, but i think that leads into far too many oppertunities for crude jokes
  13. My gf keeps asking when she can have a drive of the z. She is slowly accepting that I'm not going to let it happen
  14. I'm not really worried about parking, it's just mainly for sitting at lights/junctions as i don't like to jam the breaks down for too long and equally don't like sitting on the bitting point - the 350z's clutch is a little notorious so i'm going easy on it Thanks Vik for the link - really useful. I'll have a crack at that this weekend
  15. I'm just wondering how tight the handbrake should be as it feels i'm having to pull it up between 1 and 2 notches on the ratchet harder than i would like to fully engage the brake. Is this normal or should i get it tightened? Can't really describe how much i have to put it on any better than that i'm afraid!
  16. OK, so they're working now No prizes for guessing what fixed it, but here's a clue: Thanks guys
  17. Hah! yeah, i've still got mine somewhere... Did you have the DOS version of the original C&C? If so, you might remember this amazing installation: Makes modern installs look utterly rubbish!
  18. Sounds like lack of fluid .... the headlight washers are fed from the LHS reservoir and although the reservoirs are connected, the headlight washers will fail before the windscreen washers ... in a way it's good because you get an early indication of low fluid ....... so to check for a fault, fill to brim, start the car, turn the lights on dipped beam and pull washer stick towards you for screen wash and flick wipe and, hopefully, a headlight wash....... oh and do it when the thermometer has been above freezing for a while Cool, i'll check the levels tomorrow. It has just had its 45k service a few weeks ago - thought they might have topped it back up which is why i haven't really bothered looking yet. I did consider it might be down to the fluid in the pipes freezing due to the crappy weather.... Norwich is forecasted for some pretty cold weather over the next few days so at least it gives me an excuse to go give the car a run
  19. Yeah, lights on, correct button being pressed, liquid in the bottle as the main washers work (unless there's a seperate one...) There doesn't appear to be any liquid under the car so i guess it could be the hose, but i've not really had a nose under the bonnet to see what's going on yet (i'm pretty useless at that stuff!). Failing someone suggesting something obvious i'm missing, i'll take a look tomorrow or friday and see if i can see anything. It's still under warranty though but at a dealership that's best part of 100 miles away so taking back there is pretty much a last resort
  20. +1 I downloaded them the other day. Depending on what version of windows you are running, it can be a bit of a pain to get them working due to their age. Still great games though - esp RA
  21. I think I've got an issue with the headlight washers on my Zed. Since i got the car a couple of weeks ago, I have never got them to work. What ever I try, I just hear a noise (which sounds not dissimilar to normal washer jets) but the washers do not eject and no fluid seems to be coming from them at all. Am I missing something? (and yes, it is a UK Z )
  22. If i had the money, I'd matte red my Zed. Unfortunately, I don't
  23. Nice! I do like the idea of a matte car but i've not seen any (besides a few nasty sun faded corsa's!) irl so don't really know what the effect is like up close. The idea of a matte red 350z has been going round my head since i saw this:
  24. True, but while the "From" field will appear to be ok, you can't mask the server it came from and these are the ones that get flagged up or caught in spam filters - in hotmail they show a red banner for example. I agree though, you still need to be careful
