  1. Well, after work today I was meant to drive through Manchester shopping before going to the leisure centre. Passed a Westway Nissan.......forecourt emptied for security. Proceeded to a retail park in Ancoats........Deserted, all closed early. Took it as an omen and went home.........just before things kicked off thank god! We all know prisons are costly and overpopulated. Like other businesses they should contract the work overseas for these thugs. Make it known that all offenders will be serving their sentences in the middle east, Russia, Mexico etc. Cheaper for the taxpayer. Help the economies of poorer countries. I for one would be crapping myself at such a sentence.
  2. There's a thread somewhere where quite a few of us have done polishing of surface oxidation using MEGS NXT METAL POLISH. Did mine on the recommendation by hand using this and a MF cloth. No sanding needed. No swirls.
  3. If you know anyone who could get to Costco for you there is Mobil 1 0w40 for about £30 for 5litres.
  4. Some head units are "DAB READY" but only offer the user interface and require a separate DAB unit. A lot of the older JVC models are like this. Newer ones are all in one units. All will most certainly need a new DAB aerial. These can be either be the stick on the inside of the inside of the windscreen ones or external ones (may need drilling ) I went for a single din one with the stick on aerial and find I actually listen to radio a lot more due to the wider selection of stations
  5. Thanks to all your advice the decision as to which metal polish should replace my empty tube of autosol was easy. Got the Megs metal polish today. Just finished polishing passenger side headlight. Took a while by hand but no swirls and came up a treat. Passenger side catches the afternoon sun and was twice as bad as driver side, but now looks 100x better than driver side. In 10 years time when I finish the tub of Megs I'll know where to look for advice on a replacement
  6. Will miss seeing your posts and pics when you finally sell. Hope the new owner continues to give the zed the care it deserves. YOU SHOULD MAKE MEMBERSHIP ON HERE A MANDATORY CONDITION IN THE SALE
  7. You chose the wrong smilie.......... not ........should've gone to specsavers JUST TEASING MATE Really chuffed for you. I remember my first day with my zed. Drove around in it for hours and didn't want to go home
  8. Took a pic yesturday after cleaning the wheels. Brake dust is still coming off needing no more than gentle agitation with a MF under a running hose. Still beading as can be seen 2 months after sealing. Bored now and also going through withdrawal symptoms not waxing/sealing my Nismos. So in conclusion I reckon Chemical Guys wheel Gaurd is OK for at least a couple months. No need for any harsh wheel cleaning solution with regular washing (if all i used was water, shampoo is more than adequate).
  9. I know how you feel kevlo. I was detailing my sunset one time and guy and his girlfriend walk past. "Nice car........sh$t colour though" I mean WTF Maybe it's a detailing induced response
  10. I reckon it would be OK for regular use on lightly soiled cars that already have some fresh protection on the paint negating the need for hard/aggressive scrubbing. If I had some I would test it on a blank CD in the following steps 1. Leave garden furniture or similar item outside for few weeks along with blank CD 2. Use it on dirty garden furniture with a dusting of fine sand to boot. 3. Using the soiled cleaning cloth then clean the CD HINT HINT to all those who already own it I don't think even the manufacturer intended it to be used as aggressively as the bloke in the vid racing to finish the filthy car in record time
  11. What's the CD test mate? I did think some of these clothes were a bit harsh on the edges. Not tried the Costco ones yet, might have to get down there. CDs are easily scratched so to test the abrasiveness of detailing cloths some suggest wiping a CD first in the same way as you would dry or buff your paint. The Costco MF was fine but the thread bound edging was a bit harsher an did leave fine scratches on the CDs surface as would many other cloths that have edges bound by stitching.
  12. I personally love the whole red black theme of your car. You must feel like a SAMURAI WARRIOR as soon as you sit in your zed Your car almost seems ALIVE in a scary kind of way
  13. Another regular user here. I tried the CD test on them years ago and found the edging a bit abrasive so just fold so edges on the inside when using for buffing etc.
  14. Looks lovely from all angles. Seeing your rear makes me wanna get a stainless box and bumper tuck too!
  15. Well done on finding a zed......and one with a Nismo kit to boot The kit really sets the car off a treat!
  16. Love the sunlight bouncing off your sunset Welcome from a fellow sunsetter
  17. Got a couple of these drying towels from ASDA in Trafford Manchester branch today. About 5sq foot MF (about the size of the footwell carpet in the zed) Used it today to pat dry the zed after a wash and it does a great job. Soaked the towel and wrung dry to dampen it first. Then literally just lay it on the car section at a time. Only really had to pat on the vertical panels. Wasn't bone dry by pat drying. Damp haze was left but this evaporated in a minute leaving a streak free finish. Pat drying with my standard sized Costco MF cloths use to take forever so I gave up pat drying and just gently wiped using stuff like aqua wax as a lube/drying aid. £2 VERGING ON FREENESS
  18. If you don't have the time to shop for specific products you can use any APC like flash and agitate with a paintbrush rinsing thoroughly after Then a little wax or sealant
  19. £1000 for the FTO seems criminal when you see the state of other run of the mill, neglected 2nd hand fodder selling for the same price. I hope zeds NEVER fall to that price point Glad you like the zed........must bring a little consolation for your FTO loss
  20. http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/s ... d=12861073 Spray on clear bra. Looks like a great idea. Spray on gel dries clear. Great for long motorway journeys to protect against bugs and stonechips. BUT it is water soluble for removal so not for rainy trips
  21. I got a friend who bought an MG at 17 and has been tinkering lovingly with it ever since some 23 years later. Anyone out there owned a car longer than 10 years? Still got it?..............At what stage would you get rid? Sold it?...............Why?.............Regret?
  22. ...........any interesting stories behind the AFTERSHOCKS username?
