  1. My mums husband got a CL 500 a year ago,and it is pretty epic. His one is the later engine and gearbox,so its a 7 speed auto. At 70mph its just above 1k RPM. The later 500,s were a NA 5.4 i believe, where as the earlier ones were a 5l. He had a CLK before that, and he thought it was rubbish. Build quality was shocking, and the feel and touch of everything was worse than my mums mk1 SLK (his words not mine) If you can afford it,go for the CL,its a total barge, but its a epic way to travel. Yes the wood trim is abit gash, but you can wrap that,or im sure buy some aluminium replacements from somewhere. Remember Top Gear,Clarkson bought one,and needed to replace the coil pack,at £1200 or something. So be warned,it maybe 10k now,but its still a £100k car when it goes wrong. Also, sourcing tyres can be an issue, as the Merc ones are specific to the CL i think.
  2. Screen was replaced due to a massive crack caused by me putting the heater on when the car was covered in snow.
  3. Had a new windscreen fitted a while back, and with all the rain we have had has highlighted that something is wrong. Im getting a leak from the passenger side seal area. Il come back to the car and find a few drips on the inside of the window and on the tweeter cover. Iv pulled the seal off and put it back on,which seemed to help abit, but im still getting the leak. Has anyone else had this issue with a new windscreen? Is it the seal or the A pillar cover that possibly leaking?

    OEM Y-pipe

I also have an OEM Y pipe for sale if your interested. Was off the car when i got it at 30k,and dont look too used at all. Im in Milton Keynes.
  5. Makesure you take them to a place that knows what they are doing regarding fitting the tyres. Iv had 2 places that claim they can do it no problem, (same size wheels and tryes) and both of them have marked the wheels getting the tyres on.
  6. Any suggestions as to the best course of action when using these ramps? Ramps in question.http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stor ... zone=PLPz1
  7. Hello and welcome. Im in MK,so if you ever want to meet up,or need some help with anything, like looking at cars or maintenance etc, just give me a shout. Im 2 minutes from jnc 14 of the m1
  8. Thats a good idea,as the weight of the car on the straps will hold the ramp in place while i drive up it. Thought that by having 4 of these ramps, I could simply drive up them, and just the car up either end to get the wheels off and clean them.
  9. Wanted to use these ramps to make my life easier for jacking the car up. If i jack the car up,then its pointless using the ramps,i may as well just put axle stands straight under it. Wanted to avoid using the jack 4x to get axle stands under it. Thought these ramps would mean i could just jack the car up twice and that would be it.
  10. I tried to get the car on to them caravan level up ramps earlier, both ends, and failed miserably! I put some chocks behind the ramps on the front,as the car wouldn't go up them, just move them forward. Then, the back wheels decided that they would gobble up the ramps and spit them quite violently under the wheels and out the back. This happens twice, then I gave up. What's the best way to get the car up on these ramps,as it was very frustrating.
  11. Its a very strange place to be,but for a weekend, its pretty darn incredible.
  12. Sorry to see the damage to your car, must have scared the hell out of you. Iv done a couple of events at Bedford, and that corner can be taken with just a small lift before you turn in,maybe even flat if your brave and confident. Maybe there was something on the track that you hit, that caused you to loose grip,if you were off line slightly that could have compounded the issue. I dont think it should cost you 4k to repair to be honest, but as others have said, depends on the extent of the damage to crash bars etc.
  13. Well done Colin, good find. Looks like it was rarer than i thought then. Nearly half a million Euro for a 911 though!
  14. No idea, thought it was a homologation special or something. Couldnt get around it to look properly as it was too busy.
  15. It's an RSR. I'm with Dan. Really doesn't look good in pics in those colours. In the flesh it might have been awesome though! Really? I thought it looked pretty sexy in them colours. Good spot,it certainly was an RS-R. Not my cup of tea.
  16. Lotus Carlton FTW without a doubt, certainly the only one i saw out there, you cant say that about Ferraris,Bentleys,Porsches etc, even saw a few Rolls Royce. No Zonda's though, which is a shame,as was hoping to see one.
  17. Really? I thought it looked pretty sexy in them colours.
  18. Well,i was very fortunate this year to be working out in Monaco for the GP,and managed to stay for the race, where last year I came home straight after qualifying. Thought id share my photos with you all.
  19. Id also imagine that some, even if its a consultancy firm, would be involved with some FEA work when it comes to things like this. Same as designing wheels etc.
  20. BTW,if anyone wants anything NDT'd,then feel free to sent it to me,i have all the facilities to ultrasonically check carbon and metal,as well as full fluorescent dye pen and mag.
  21. Iv had that picture nearly 7 years now, see, I was obviously into Zeds before I even knew it! lol
  22. Exactly like this,an earlier version with the vented bonnet. http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3529575.htm
  23. The 575 is meant to be much better than the 550,but your dreaming even more then! lol I really like the 456 GT with a manual box. Though again, couldnt afford to buy or run one.
  24. I must admit,iv not had any experience in the last 15 years of the NHS directly, but recently, one of my nans had a stroke, which she has now fully recovered from, but while she was in hospital recovering, they discovered bow cancer. She had her operation last week, and today was released from hospital, not back to full health, but getting there. She is nearly 82!! My other nan has been in hospital recently after a fall, and although she is now in a care home for rehabilitation, (which is actually very nice) she was and has been well looked after by the system. To be honest,id be happy to pay as I use, which is what happens in the USA i believe. Though i have been lucky and never broken anything,or had a serious illness other than Asthma as a child. I get the Norwich union cover through work, but regardless,id still rather pay for private than use the NHS.
  25. That is pretty darn tasty. But,id still rather have.........
