  1. Don't remember since its been a while grrrrr Last time I was at donington the performance friction guy was there and measured the temps on all 4 corners after smth like 10 consecutive as hard as it gets laps and said they are ok. Think he said 700?....or was it 500?.....or 550?.....I don't remember....still I had no fade whatsoever. Ps he says to me...."these front rotors have suffered a bit haven't they?" And I replied a bit worried...."but they are brand new! I have only done a wet track day at cadwell with them! He never replied....but I found out that it was the racing compound of the pads that wear the pf rotors quickly...oh well.
  2. Less rasp with the resonator bud I think you find with Chris, it is how many more BHP's it gives that matters rather than more DCB's I like torque too Colin Thank you all again and I ll be waiting for more info on Monday. If it doesn't make a difference in performance I could do with less raspiness but I wonder whether the XYZ is worth double than stillen
  3. Thanks for the input guys. Any idea why the xyz comes with a resonator too? Straight pipe is better for performance?
  4. Dear fellow Zedders, I regret to say that my exhaust is blowing....on the car that is. It's the right cylindrical bit on the y pipe that's cracked. The car is a 313 and the y pipe and exhaust are genuine nismo mated with high flow cats (think ultimate racing, will look into it). I would be grateful if you could share your wisdom with me on the best y pipes for a 313 out there that would fit/work with the nismo and hfcs. Priority is power
  5. What causes it to stop sending power went the wheel comes of the ground? I though quaife was mechanical? http://mgaguru.com/mgtech/rearaxle/ra302c.htm And thats a nice explanation. Stating its rubbish is just someone that never driven a car with one fitted i love mine ( until airborne or on ice with one wheel... neither likely to happen..) It will only happen once I didn't say they are rubbish. I meant they are good only for boy racers when fitted on the Zed And as for the above comment on vlsd I am sure I know very well what a vlsd is, just as I know tonnes on viscosity mate (not you anders...think it was Mr Dowcra). It works better warm as it feels more progressive and not as snappy, and if you had ever done 15 laps round cadwell at max attack on a dry day you would know that even with the nismo fins on the turtle shell it soon overheats and doesn't feel right. On the other hand a mechanical one with braking plates lets say is ridiculous for anything else but drifting (locked 2 way and 100% torque) and track days...( at 1.5 way and 60-100% torque...when you wanna lift off wheels that is). Your choice.
  6. I wouldn't go on a track with a quaiffe diff! It's useless in the snow too. It would work on 4x4 jeep in the mud but on track if you lose traction from mounting on a kerb then you are off! Cant see anybody quick enough to left foot brake to apply torque to the flying wheel!!! The quaiffe works when both wheels are on the road or in any case if they have any amount of apllied torque. Hit a kerb, wheel of the road, zero torque, zero power on both wheels, big twitch from the rear....in every way For the zed it has to be mechanical since there is no e-diff option. Viscous is ok as long as the diff is warm enough. the zed slides with any diff on any road. If you have a mechanical one your car will sound different (not in a nice way) than anything else trying to park it at an Asda car park lets say. You can't check a vlsd by jacking up the rear wheels. The vlsd is open and becomes lsd only when the oil gets hot and one wheels loses traction (doesn't have to be fully). Best way to check it is one wheel in sand (you may get stuck) or one wheel on ice
  7. Stick a mechanical one on and you ll feel and even more hear! the difference...
  8. Depending on how big the twitch on my backside is, I have been taught a lesson from a few seconds to about a month. Sorry, I never learn Ps I have written off a Maserati and crashed a lancia, a Maserati, a zed and several mopeds and motorbikes. I have realised that my limits are further away than what I think most of the time....for my own good.
  9. Well...maybe to a point....but then again....hmmmmm Decent write up as a vague general rule. I wouldn't take the brand names into consideration at all. On top of that a few quid difference doesnt mean better tyre...it could be different company sales policy. In addition, a tyre that is crap here ie 040 would be superb in Dubai lets say, for weather and temperature reasons alone.... Then it's the driver. My gf is happy with her 452s on her TT but I think the grip is horrible and the previously worn contis were better. But she only drives around town and always 20 mph slower than the cars grip level. If you are asking me they are fab for her and she can spend the change in face plaster and paint! I just try and avoid driving it as for my driving style they are dangerous....if I dont want to write another car off I need to stick to my PSS. Ps don't mention braking btw....discs and pads are cheapo stuff too....they can't lock the wheels on ice let alone tarmac!
  10. Repost or not that missile should have been launched
  11. No it hasn't but it affects the ESP as it changes the way it works....then again it doesn't interfere unless I deactivate the standard ESP ... I may be ok ... But I ve got lots of other little things that could be picked up now ... Don't forget there is only the seats standard in my zed... For now
  12. What about the race logic tcs? For that and a few more chabal won't pass his mot What if the mot is due late April but I take it at the earliest date I am allowed? Or even earlier?
  13. If you can find them for a grand look no further mate. They are the best full stop. Make sure you fill them up with nitrogen at 37 psi and then lower if the car is too solid for you but that works a treat for me since their sidewalls are very soft and comparing to the potenzas your steering may feel less accurate. Haven't tried them in the snow yet so I can't comment plus I ve got a nismo LSD and i come from a village on a mountain in northern Greece (which means I ve done thousands of miles on snow/ice) so even if they work for me that doesn't mean they will work for everybody. My only problem was the price. For my 19 inch wheels they were about 1300 quid. A few thousand miles later I got a massive screw in a rear one and 2 miles after it lost all the air the tyre walls were knackered....then I needed another 800 quid for a set of rear!!! Very bad value for money if you know what I mean.
  14. I thought it's the 21st century? Silicone spray. Treats the seals too
  15. Must be doing alright then, midlife crisis car AND girlfriend, lol +1 2 words.... Good lad As for the stick shift as they call it there it's more a younger generation thing....just getting thicker
  16. Exactly as above mate. One more thing 050s are longer lasting than all.
  17. 340.7 to be precise with nismo intakes, ultimate racing high flow cats and nismo exhaust. Oh and v power. With standard boxes and cosworth panel filters it wouldn't go over 320! Now we need to do a before and after run with Paul at rs tuning in Leeds but I am currently very busy at the practice and with my judo training Ps that is at the flywheel.
  18. Bit of a work to fit the fender ones but they do a great job with the front subframe. All in all I ve managed to make my zed impossible to drive every day....I prefer my A4 quattro
  19. Loads of bracings depending on how much you want to spend. Have a look at gt speck website. Zmanalex also will be able to help you and so will the search button on the top right. My datsun has got the full range from gt spec (front, middle, 2 rear and fender bracings) plus a tanabe between the front and middle section. Also uprated anti roll bars and good coilovers will stiffen your datsun up a lot!
  20. Unemployment rises, businesses go bust, life is getting more expensive, bureaucracy is becoming mind blowing, education is almost non existent and family values are well and truly gone. Yes the biggest problem we had is dead. Well done. Then through Syria let's target Iran or even better let's kill them all. Sorry for being cynical...it may eventually be good for the lybians but British aerospace in brough won't re-employ the 900 people made redundant not long ago now that general gaddafi is dead. On another note it's a good time to buy guns in the black market as all the ammo we (us and allies) sold to the rebels will be sold for money. Even the rebels need to feed themselves and families
