VRRacing Posted December 21, 2014 Posted December 21, 2014 Picked up my Fairlady Import on Thursday. It's already had a few mods, Akebono brakes, BC Coil overs, detachable Momo wheel and cobra exhaust. Going to be starting with a roll cage and new ecu. The end goal is to have a car that built to be tracked but at the same time not totally uncomfortable and a pig to drive on the road. A few pics from its first couple of days in my possession:) oh and a pic of the car its replacing Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 4 Quote
GMballistic Posted December 21, 2014 Posted December 21, 2014 (edited) Sound's like a fantastic project and the car it's replacing look's very cool (Honda Civic?). Although your Zed need's a wash. Your pictures aren't showing up on the page btw but if I click on them they work. Bit strange but just fyi. Edit: Pictures working now. Edited December 21, 2014 by GMballistic Quote
Adrian@TORQEN Posted December 21, 2014 Posted December 21, 2014 Sounds like a very nice project! Good luck and keep updating this thread, watching with interest! Quote
harryjackson Posted December 21, 2014 Posted December 21, 2014 Subbed. Let's see a nice race car build!!! Quote
VRRacing Posted December 21, 2014 Author Posted December 21, 2014 Yeah that was motorway grime after 6 hours driving, it'll clean:). Yeah it's a Civic FD2 JDM Import, in the process of trying to sell it. Got a roll cage ordered. Bought a clubman cage then going to add in the other bits as and when the regs require. Hoping there's enough room behind the dash to fit in a dash bar, want to keep it as road friendly as possible. Looking for a big rear wing. Drift works and showoff imports looking most hopeful at the moment. Going to run it all on Syvec ecu. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
GMballistic Posted December 21, 2014 Posted December 21, 2014 Are you keeping the engine standard n/a, modified n/a or going the FI route? Should be interesting either way. Quote
VRRacing Posted December 21, 2014 Author Posted December 21, 2014 One step at a time but FI and then one day possibly maybe NOS. Because I've always wanted it:) but not before internals. See what boost people and running on standard internals. Change for beefier head gasket, get compression down a little. Am I right in thinking the compression is pretty low already on the 350? Not had chance to check yet. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
WhackyWill Posted December 22, 2014 Posted December 22, 2014 Good project. Be nice to see the build thread coming on. Needs a stubby... Quote
Keyser Posted December 22, 2014 Posted December 22, 2014 Stock 350 up to 2006 is 10.3 to 1 Watching the progress with interest Quote
VRRacing Posted December 22, 2014 Author Posted December 22, 2014 Thanks for that:) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote

VRRacing Posted December 31, 2014 Author Posted December 31, 2014 Started stripping off all the unnecessary sound deadening and bracing to make way for the cage. Not weighed the bits yet but I think the removed bracing etc will be more than the cage that replaces it. Chipped away all the sound deadening which was the easiest of jobs. Hopefully the steel for the cage will be here next week Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
GMballistic Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 How did you get rid of the sound deadening so easily? I know some members who have had real problems taken it out and have had to result to chemicals & all sorts to get rid of it all. 1 Quote

GMballistic Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 Freezing it helps a lot. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Make's sense. It's not anything I plan on doing but good to know. Look forward to more updates in 2015. Quote
VRRacing Posted December 31, 2014 Author Posted December 31, 2014 I assume to adjust dampers people usually make a hole above the rear strut tops, in normal circumstances that is. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
GMballistic Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 I assume to adjust dampers people usually make a hole above the rear strut tops, in normal circumstances that is. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Yep that or you can get damper adjustment extenders, ...in that case you have a hole in the plastic with the extender coming out of it for adjustment. Quote
VRRacing Posted December 31, 2014 Author Posted December 31, 2014 Oh well. Don't have to worry about it anymore:). I've seen a few of those extenders cheaper lighter alternative to motorised I suppose Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote

RobPhoboS Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 Love these kind of projects but I'd rather go down NA route just for this kind of noise... 1 Quote
VRRacing Posted January 2, 2015 Author Posted January 2, 2015 More weight reduction. Will worry about weight distribution later. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
