Hi Folks,

My name is Jake and I am 25 - had various cars Mazda6 sport, Chrysler Crossfire (I know everyone hates em but fantastic value for money) and now I have found a Fairlady 03 with Nismo bodykit air filter and exhaust near me.

Looking at the car tomorrow reckon I could get it for 4k but it has no history as far as I am aware.

It was imported in 08 by a GI on an American base and this guy who is selling bought it in Feb this year. Not sure what spec it is though as they seem to have loads of specs in Japan so I have no idea if it has anymore mods yet. The car has 85k on the clock.

I am guessing that if I purchased I would do a full service straight away - what else would I need to do ?

Also insuance I am struggling with although the Crossfire I had no problem so any advice would be appreciated.

Oh it has a tiptronic box too.

What are people on here's thought s please ?

Cheers Jake

Hi all, got a quote of £900 off of adrian flux but he said i would need a thatcham alarm and immoboliser if not fitted - i take it they would not have one fitted on an import and if not any idea how much ?

They don't come fitted to imports no but some imports will have these fitted ~ not as standard but as an after market install. You will need to check that though with the seller of the import car you're interested in buying.

If it doesn't have one though you can buy a decent enough Cat 1 Thatcham approved alarm/immobiliser for around £70-£80 & up (Toad, Clifford etc). Fitting costs vary so you will need to check that locally with an Auto electrician or Audio installation centre.

Once fitted I believe they will also give you a certificate or similar stating the grade of alarm you have for the insurance.

Years ago I had a mobile firm fit a Thatcham approved Toad alarm to an old car of mine at home. It was about £400 to do that but it was a top of the range alarm at the time & obviously they came to my house so cost more again.

For example: http://www.soundsalarminguk.com/security.htm

Hope that helps.

Well folks, looked at the car and as previous post 'not always as it seems' car looked ok but bodykit was in a right state - fibreglass cracked split and lumps out and as it was the bodykit that appealed to me I decided not to bother ! Will up the budget quite a bit to around 10k ish and keep an eye out for a Nismo over here but good uns do seem like hens teeth !

There are plenty of Nismo body kitted cars knocking around mate. 10k would get you well and truly into one.

Better still but a decent zed for 7k and buy your own and a few mods.
