Digsy Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 Let the debate begin: http://www.carmagazine.co.uk/first_offi ... 963&page=1 I'll reserve final judgment until I see it in the flesh but I'm a bit disappointed. Take away the details and it looks almost Lexus-like. I supect Jag couldn't win whatever they did but at least more ham-fisted retro has been avoided. Quote
Digsy Posted August 28, 2007 Author Posted August 28, 2007 end of debate Now come on, don't hold back now! Quote
xStric9x Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 end of debate # I think the car looks far better than the s-type and hopefully will be able to compete with lexus, bmw and the like I had a x-type before the zed and you would be very suprised!! Quote
Emperor Ming Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 Lexus meets Toyota Corolla. Ugh!!!! Ming the Ex Jag lover (I've had two and they both broke) Quote

Is that necessarily a bad thing though? Still its not bad for Jaguar, they need something to go along side the XK model instead of the old school S-type, X-type stuff. Quote
sinbad Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 I prefer mine That just shouts MID-LIFE crisis!! haha Quote
lomoto Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 I prefer mine That just shouts MID-LIFE crisis!! haha no incontinence pants Quote
martinmac Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 Seems that there is a need to be different which has taken away thetraditional sleek and balanced lines. Then again, it could be worse; http://www.carmagazine.co.uk/secret_new ... 972&page=1 Quote
Trev-the-Rev Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 First impression is yuk, but it may look a lot better in the flesh Quote
jonathan73 Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 I knew the pussies would **** about with the concept. The concept was GORGEOUS. It had a higher waist, no door handles, a meaner front and generally looked sweee.eeeeee.eeeeet. This looks pooh. Quote
nixy Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 For me it just doesn't have the look of a jaguar - it could be a Mondeo. Quote
Kev946 Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 Another case of lovely prototype, horrible production version. And it does look like a Lexus to me. Horrible, let's hope it drives better than it looks, but suspect this is another nail in the coffin for Jaguar. We drove past Sturgess Jaguar on Sunday in Leicester and there wasn't one person in showroom mid day. Sturgess Land Rover on the other hand was very busy. PS: I like yours better Tim Quote
stevie_350z Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 I like it! Looks better than the GTR... • 4.2 V8 petrol, supercharged, 416bhp, 413lb ft, 299g/km But only out in US @ launch Quote
Ian Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 Looks ok, Interior looks awesome Looks better than previous Jags, I've always wanted an XJ6 since I was about 5 Quote
Stew Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 The concept was stunning! his looks like a ..... forget lexus, it's more Hyundai! In fact I think it is a rebaged Hyundai! Quote
stevie_350z Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 What a complete dung heap of a car Your view counts -1 are you coming to the usual NW meet? Hope so! Avoid the speed camera this time! Quote
bronzee Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 Drove my brothers XJRS today, not driven it for a while, very heavy, solid, and sits on the road the way a Grand Tourer should, and did I mention double 6, thobbing torque, absolutely beaufiful. The new ones are nice, but they've slightly lost the Jag class and become a bit more generic. No offence, difference strokes for different folks. Now if you're talking Jag, then maybe XKR. http://www.jaguar.co.nz/nz/en/xk/galler ... graphy.htm We had a display earlier this year at a very noteable car show, needless to say they had to drag me away from the XKR display, and then only to dragged away from the Bugatti. GC350z Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 Never liked the old XKR and I think the current one arrived too late as the DB was already out there and established. That new Jag is just another run of the mill car. Jag need to move forward but must design a car that people know and will call a Jag from the outset. I’d say the car spent too long in design and missed it’s moment or was styled in a hurray as they are under pressure to compete. Quote
M13KYF Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 I can see VW passat in it. I applaud Jaguar for making a radical change. Just not sure that the grill blends very well. Quote
