Cheers Ollie I spent most of my lunch today on the CS forum, simply putting '350z' into the search field and reading the results and associated posts. There's certainly a difference of opinion on the Zed. Pretty much evenly split between those that have owned one (and therefore rate them) and those that have never even sat in one, but their mates dad's uncle's brother had one and it did 4mpg, the parts were ridiculously expensive and the interior build quality was terrible (and this coming from Clio owners). 14N Posted March 24, 2014 Author Share Posted March 24, 2014 OK, I've bought a few presents for my daily driver Clio. The handling is a tad frigtening. I'm not sure if it's the twitchy go-kart like handling characteristics of the car and the fact that I'm just used to the Zed, but it doesn't like going round corners in quite the manner I'd expect. There are a decent pair of Falkens on the rear, but there is a mismatched pair of tyres on the front. And, not only are they mis-matched, they're a mis-matched pair of budget tyres! So, I bought these off eBay. A pair of Toyo T1R's with 7mm of tread for £76 +p&p I'm hoping they'll help the scary cornering. And whilst I was on the bay, I bought this too. A Powerflow cat back exhaust for £95. Should hopefully make the car sound a bit less asthmatic Pics and review to follow on both once fitted. 14N Posted March 24, 2014 Author Share Posted March 24, 2014 Well, the car is booked into a friendly garage I recently found and I've asked them to get it up on the ramps and give it a check over. Basically MOT it without MOTing it. Essentially I've asked them to look at things like ball joints, bearings, bushes etc. They'll hopefully fit the tyres and exhaust while they've got it. Some of my best driving moments have been out in the sticks in a type R with one of these 182's on the twistys, hot hatches are just great on those roads. 14N Posted April 3, 2014 Author Share Posted April 3, 2014 I do think I got a articulately cheap one, probably due to the miles being the wrong side of 100k. But it polished up a treat and the engine and gearbox etc still feel tight. (Touches wood). No nastily rattles, knocks or bangs. You can pick a nice example up with good miles and history for less than £3k, which is a bargain pocket rocket IMO. Spoke to the guy I'm getting the zorst off today (to arrange courier etc). I've been getting 29-32mpg on average, even with the hooning about like a teenager in his first car. Which ain't bad I figured. But tonight, as I set off on the commute home, I thought I'd reset the trip computer and drive home like the aforementioned teenager's grandmother. And look what my average MPG was when I got home. GIXXERUK Posted April 6, 2014 Share Posted April 6, 2014 I can see up to 80mpg in my dci and never see below 60mpg I did a 1200 mile trip around Scotland from Oxford and averaged 70+ mpg !
