cs2000 Posted April 30, 2013 Share Posted April 30, 2013 (edited) Hey all, As some of you may have seen, I have created some Audi style DRL reflectors that fit perfectly into the OEM reflector holes in the DE style bumper, these are cars from 2003-2006. Below is a photo of them on my car The package will contain; 1x Set of LED reflectors, 4x Scotch Lock connectors, 1x Printed fitting instructions, 45CM of wire on each reflector. My original designs posted on this forum were rather rough and I'm making some changes to these units. The LED's will be wired individually and wire joints will be reduced whilst also improving the quality of the joins. As for testing, once built, the LED's are lit for 24 hours and water tested them to ensure they are totally sealed from the elements, I want to make 100% sure that these don't fail a few weeks down the line so I will be rigorous with my testing. These will be sold in Silver or Black versions with White LED's only at the moment. The Silver reflectors have a clear lens with a silver backing, the Black ones again have a clear lens but have a black backing giving them a darker appearance but don't affect light output. The price for these will be as follows; £50.00 + 3.00 shipping for the Clear/silver ones £65.00 + 3.00 shipping for the Black ones The reflectors are shows here (without the LED mod fitted) so you can see what they look like! Black Silver Posting will be done by Royal Mail's Recorded service. The usual wait for these is around 10-14 days due to the backlog in ordering parts and me hand making them. Let me just go and check I can get LED's bright enough! (but bear in mind, 30,000mcd is damn bright, you are likely to attract some unwanted attention with these! Not sure why you cant get ultra bright blue LED's, must be down to light wavelength or something. You can get some stupidly bright green ones but no blue. Il stick you onto the list, cheers I know this is still an interest thread, but I have all the parts on order to make the items above, still have 1 silver set un-called for at the moment too. Ive got carbon ones but have blue leds on them ,i would like orange to wire to indicator or white like yours haven't decided yet, is this something you might be able to do? cs2000 Posted April 30, 2013 Author Share Posted April 30, 2013 (edited) Probably not honestly. I've just sold a pair of those carbon style ones. The LEDs are soldered directly into a PCB. Not impossible by any means, but not something I've ever done, sorry. Also, you will be hard pressed to find amber LEDs that are the correct colour and bright enough. KyleR Posted May 1, 2013 Share Posted May 1, 2013 I'd have been interested in an orange set to either use as indicators like jumping350 or to just run with sidelights along with the facelift headlamps that I have fitted which also have Orange LEDs. I know maplin do 5cd orange LEDs but I have no idea what shade they would be. I wonder what a set or orange reflectors would look like with white LEDs... I doubt Veilside would want to include some special reflectors in a bumper kit. Also, im unable to PM you, make some space in your inbox!! @KyleR - I have found some LED's online that are POSSIBLY the correct colour and bright enough, they're on the way to me for confirmation. Orange reflectors with white LED's may look good, but im assuming these are your OEM reflectors. You would have to do a little bit of investigation if you wanted me to do these for you. cs2000 Posted May 8, 2013 Author Share Posted May 8, 2013 (edited) Sorry for the lack of updates guys, I have been, and still am waiting for parts to arrive. On the same day I ordered 2 silver and 1 black set of reflectors, today, the lone black set arrived and I have spent the past hour or so marking and drilling ready for the LED's. Here is where I am with the first set for Jaz since he is on the list first! I'm hoping the damn LED's turn up tomorrow along with the next load of reflectors, I have everything else (wire, silicone etc) ready to go!
