Paddy78 Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 (edited) So I finally decided to tackle my front end after collecting a few parts. Yes, I know my car is filthy! Before: After: Overall I'm pleased with the new look and can't believe I got the bumper off and back on again without any swearing or blood... I can't have done it properly! Also fitted some rubber washers in the boot springs, so now opens first time every time! Next up: Spacers - Before anyone mentions! The 2nd photo really shows how bad mine needs a bit of a wider stance. Wheel Refurb FlyBoy's Mirror Mod Grounding Kit Oil Catch Can Edited May 14, 2014 by Paddy78 Quote
Shaun1982 Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 Can I have your lights please paddy? Lol. Looks good mate, definitely needs spacers or wider wheels like you say Quote
marzman Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 Nice work, and well done for not skinning your knuckles at least when removing the bumper. Quote
Aliensurfer Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 Exactly what I'm looking at doing to my Blade, how long did it take you? Quote
Stutopia Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 Is the plate holder removal a simple screws out, remove, screw back or am I being too optimistic? Quote
Paddy78 Posted April 8, 2013 Author Posted April 8, 2013 Thanks for all the positive comments guys! Exactly what I'm looking at doing to my Blade, how long did it take you? Probably about 5 hours from start to tools down. This did include 4 coats of paint with 30 mins between them. There is a good guide on here by Slim Jim (Face Off) for how to remove the bumper if you go down that route. Is the plate holder removal a simple screws out, remove, screw back or am I being too optimistic? 2 screws in the plate and 2 in the plate holder. Mine is taped back on though as you'd need to make 2 more holes in the bumper if you wanted to screw the plate back down. Quote
Shaun1982 Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 And iirc it leaves a fairly large pair of holes behind doesn't it?about an inch or so in diameter Quote

Shaun1982 Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 Only if you didn't put the plate back there Quote
Aliensurfer Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 Thanks Paddy. Is the grille easy enough to fit without having to remove the bumper do you know? Quote

Paddy78 Posted April 10, 2013 Author Posted April 10, 2013 Thanks Paddy. Is the grille easy enough to fit without having to remove the bumper do you know? I would have thought so? I can't confirm though obviously! Quote
Tinyflier Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 Thanks Paddy. Is the grille easy enough to fit without having to remove the bumper do you know? I would have thought so? I can't confirm though obviously! On the facelift you have to remove the body coloured slats that are in the grille aperture before you can fit the Zunnsport grille. These slats are screwed on from behind. You can get to them by putting you arm (equipped withn a screwdriver!) down from the top through the gap in front of the radiator. Fitting the grille after is a piece of cake. David Quote
Paddy78 Posted May 4, 2013 Author Posted May 4, 2013 So I failed miserably in my attempt to paint my brake discs today... I bottled taking the callipers off, but I should be able to do this with them on... when I get some normal paint as I only had a spray can. Anyway.... I didn't let this deter me from a day of work and so did the following: New Number Plate Fitted: Wheels Refurb'd (The Wheel Specialist Leeds): Spacers Fitted (Eibach 20mm / 25mm): Washed and Waxed: She's slowly getting there now. I need to invest in a machine polisher soon as I have so many little scratches / swirls. Still, I'm pleased with the day's work and can't wait for Wales!! Thanks for looking.
