EH 370z Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 In the austere time we live in, can someone explain to me how £250000 can be justified on this monstrosity below. On the A66 roundabout over the road from my dealership Any guesses as to what it is by the way? Quote
DoogyRev Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 I know what it is Toby..... A complete waste of Money Some desk jockey dreamed it up probably Quote
Leeroy Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 It's looking a bit crap at the moment but I'll reserve judgement for the finished item - providing EH 370z hasn't torched it by then I wouldn't mind if the public art that we got was cool, like much of the stuff on the continent Quote
Ruddles Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 I won't get annoyed....I won't get annoyed.... Quote
Railgun Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 Looks like a timber lorry has come off the road! Quote
EH 370z Posted November 3, 2011 Author Posted November 3, 2011 Hilariously, this work of art is supposed to represent a “Corn field†Fantastic, for a town which is synonymous with the steel and petro-chemical industry. Still it will give the scally’s some scrap metal to sell on the black market for a bit of extra pocket money – no seriously they will…. Quote
Stew Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 Recently Aberdeen City Council spent about £60m restoring n old building. In my opinion it was worth every penny and the best tax pounds spent in my lifetime locally. The finished building looks absolutely stunning! Marchial College in Aberdeen. Awesome! The £120k statue outside is ace too! Quote

The £120k statue outside is ace too! that is fair enough, its a building that has a purpose and will be used by many people over many years. a piece of history!!!!! but not some load of SH!T that has been made just to spend the budget. my local council spent nigh on 600k on a frigging bus shelter!!! it was crap and leaked all over the place!!! Why should the scallies get first bash? I reckon I'd be doing everyone a favour. Quote
docwra Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 We have this: Its apparently the worlds first laser lit sculpture on a roundabout ........ except the lasers stopped working after about 6 months and havent been fixed. Most locals now refer to it as "The Bog Roll" Cost? £100K. Quote
Iwantone Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 Having one of these did no harm to the Italian town of Piza...... We have this: Its apparently the worlds first laser lit sculpture on a roundabout ........ except the lasers stopped working after about 6 months and havent been fixed. Most locals now refer to it as "The Bog Roll" Cost? £100K. Quote

Beavis Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 This FTW though If you are going to be random this is the way to do it! Quote
EH 370z Posted November 3, 2011 Author Posted November 3, 2011 At least these look like something, as far as I can see our new addition has just made the roundabout slight more dangerous to get around as now you can’t see what you will drive into. As a small foot note, this round about was fine. Then some years ago some idiot covered it in traffic lights are prioritised it, now there is one accident per week on it! Quote
rtbiscuit Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 i like funky architecture and sculptures. makes a place interesting. Quote
DoogyRev Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 We have this on the A24 roundabout:- For cluck sake Quote
rtbiscuit Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 we have loads of c0cks on the roundabouts near us as well Quote
jumping350 Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 We have this on the A24 roundabout:- HAHA the giant ****!!legendary, theres a bit of a downhill approach to the bird wouldnt like to lock up into that Quote
Daryl Posted November 4, 2011 Posted November 4, 2011 In my home town of Grays, they put a load of rocks on a round about,as they thought it would make people think of Stonehenge! That cost about £100k. Quote
Stew Posted November 4, 2011 Posted November 4, 2011 Here we have flowers... which are paid for by companies (mostly oil operators) putting signs up on the roundabout. It's not exactly amazing but flowers are better than some of the sh*te posted! Quote
