Project Zee Business - Update 25th July

Something a bit more interesting this weekend -

Installed and tested the AAM Competition 350Z Stage 1 Fuel Return Kit.

The reason this is being installed before the engine swap is that so many parts will be changed in one go I thought, if I install, test and prove some parts working they are less likely to be an issue when the new engine goes in should any problems arise.

It started of looking like this

1.jpg

The workshop foreman immediately took up position

2.jpg

Stripped the plenum etc out -

3.jpg

Then out with the stock fuel rails

5.jpg

6.jpg

Removed the injectors and got all the new bits together

7.jpg

New fuel rails installed

8.jpg

Installed the new fuel regulator and test gauge.

9.jpg

10.jpg

On Sunday Bob popped round to play - Be warned keep clear of Bob and a pair of pliers

I'm not sure if he was planning on lowering the car at this point

11.jpg

12.jpg

Fuel pump assembly removed -

12a.jpg

Modified and installed - nice neat job

15.jpg

New return fuel line mounted next to existing fuel feed line -

16.jpg

Pressure test -

14.jpg

We had 2 leaks to deal with when tested to 90psi One was a missing rubber washer the other is where the new braided fuel feed line connects to the original metal fuel line - this is due to the kit re-using the OEM connector - which I don't have - must have been removed at some point in the past. We have done a temporary fix at the moment with jubilee clips (that's when bob tried to remove my finger ) I will be replacing this with a proper aftermarket connector later.

So the senior mechanic put her back together -

Back to this

The only sign we were ever here -

Couple of new bits arrived this week :D

Some new (to me) 19" BK Racing Alloys - these will be my winter/road tyre wheels the Rotas with the R888's will be kept for summer/track

Don't they look similar to the Ginger Ninja's wheels??

Started the Oil Cooler install this weekend but broke my oil pressure sender while sorting out the pipe routes :bangin: so I can't hook it up until the new one arrives around Wednesday.

First attempt at a mock up location - Fail!! as the FMIC pipe means it to far forwards :surrender:

IMG_2403.jpg

So onto location 2

IMG_2409.jpg

This works as the FMIC pipe is smaller on this side and I can get the rad back far enough

So made up some mounts with the assistance of my Daughter and Bob and we fitted it in.

IMG_2421.jpg

Had to trim the bumper a bit so it doesn't rub.

IMG_2422.jpg

All in place -

Will hook the pipes up and update soon.......

Looking brilliant mate!! Love watching this. Wish my garage was as big and organised as yours lol.

Don't forget the really good lights

Nice work, bolts is what I need to do with mine. No braided lines!:) it is a thermostat in that I take it?

They are braided - internally - rated to 160 Bar yes BAR!!! LOL I's not like they will be seen is it?

I have a thermostatic sandwich plate but need my new oil pressure sender before I install it :headhurt:

Will get pics up when I get the next bit done

Oil Cooler Part 2

Evening all

So still waiting for my new oil pressure sender but my oil pressure tester arrived today so I thought I'd get the oil cooler moved on a step.

It actually went quite well even though I got covered in the stuff when I dropped the pipe

So started off with this -

OilCooler29.jpg

Quick oil pressure test (cold)

OilCooler210.jpg

Unfortunately when I lined the sandwich plate up I could see a slight problem with the location of the Oil Pressure sender :bang:

OilCooler212.jpg

OilCooler211.jpg

Added some elbows to move that round -

OilCooler21.jpg

Bolted it all in place

OilCooler24.jpg

Test run time

Assisted by my daughter as always - her job was to scream if the oil pressure went below 20 psi

OilCooler28.jpg

Oil warmed pressure holding -

OilCooler22.jpg

Did discover that my 80 degree sandwich plate opens at 70 degrees!!???

Input temp -

OilCooler27.jpg

Output (not bad for stationary)

OilCooler26.jpg

Think these will hold the pressure

OilCooler25.jpg

All plumbed in -

OilCooler23.jpg

Hopefully get my oil pressure sender tomorrow or Thursday - hook that up and a test drive. :drive1:yahoo:
