 Not impressed some little scrote has decided it would be fun to key my car

If i could get hold of him I'd show him how fun keying can be :boxing:

Little f8j6!!!!

Anyone any advice on how I can fix it myself or is it a body shop job?

The scratch is through the paint to at least the primer, you can catch your nail in it so it has some depth to it.

Believe me i know your pain well, during the first week of having the car and parking it on the road outside my house it got keyed three times on three seperate days  I can't help feeling i shouldn't have to park it in a private garage round the corner to stop it getting vandalised.

Megs ultimate compound with a DA polisher has made them less visible, especially when waxed (sorry to the detailing gurus, i know there's no reason wax should help, but it does seem to) but the ones that go down to the primer will never disappear because they expose a different colour. I'm trying to justify getting mine fully resprayed as it now has a bad scratch or chip on every panel.

I feel for you! Very sorry to hear about this.

First time that happened to me, I was driving a red Ford Escort. I kept it looking nice, but come on! Very deep (bare metal in places) all down the driver's side crossing both doors.

I was half convinced it was a neighbour who didn't like me parking where I did (marked bay, one of many in the road outside our house).

On another occasion, having upgraded to a nicer car, I was visiting a friend and from their front room saw a passing lout put his can of beer down on the roof of my car and reach into his pocket. Luckily I got up and out onto the street before he could fish out his keys.

I don't understand how some people think damaging someone else's hard earned property is OK. I used to live in Tokyo and if anyone witnessed that sort of behaviour they would report it immediately. Somehow in the UK the same sense of civic responsibility is just not there.

Death penalty back for these occasions and regardless of age of the thug.

Totally agree. Little jealous scumbags should be shot.

My missus`s car was covered in scratches when we got it, but we bought it like that. I used some really hardcore polishing / cutting stuff which has like sand in it. That and elbow grease managed to get a lot of the scratches out and make the rest look a lot less bad.

Would like to hear the end of that story! Hopefully it involved you keying his knee caps.

Big sympathy to the OP, shitty thing to happen.

What a ****:angry: Too many scumbags around  Hope you get it sorted.

I bought some Farecla G3 Compound from Halford http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stor ... yId_255240

Bought them to get rid of some scratches on my E92, i have yet to try them. Read about them on the detailing forum for removing deep scratches...worth a try maybe  but if you could catch the scratch with your nails..it might be a job for the bodyshop

I always thought it would be great to have some sort of electrical alarm protection system...so if something metallic touched the car it emitted a huge voltage onto the body panels and up the key/arm of any offending ****. :boxing:

OK I admit I nicked the idea off my dad, who with his Koi fish collection got fed up of cats hooking hundreds of pounds worth of fish out his pond, so he put down chicken wire around the pond edge and hooked it into the household mains supply...I must say to this day never seen a cat jump that high...

My thoughts exactly!!!!

I'll take a more side on picture with a better camera when I get home today. Currently on the phone at GF's.

If I can't get it sorted with some type of polish, detailing product etc I might have a go at painting the roof trim bit before tackling the boot then if it all goes pear shaped I can take it to the body shop. have some confidence in painting after my recent interior projects.

I wish we could electrocute our car panels! Or have fire coming out from underneath!

Lol to the koi pond electric fence

Dannyboy earlier actually did get it right there are waxes that contain fillers that temporarily cover up light scratches. However if you can feel it with the scratch test then normally it means a garage job. You can of course use a DA with an appropiate compound and that should lessen the not so deep parts of the scratch.

And now lets pray that the little sh**e get his just deserts big time.

What about a Forum Hitman?

I could find him loads of work....

I think high altitude bombing would be a more cost effective fix for the problems around your neck of the woods.

Something I had considered but the cost of deployment too high - These are time of austerity dear boy

Just spotted this as I have had way too much coffee and can't sleep. Feel bad for you but most of us have been there  If you are anywhere near teesside within then next week I would have my bodyshop polish it for free. You may be surprised how much of it will come out

Anyone know anything to combat the effects of ridiculously strong coffee? :surrender:
