Nissan confirms one-off ‘Super’ Juke

Posted on 27 September 2011 by Editor

IF you’ve had calls from excited customers asking when they can buy a GT-R powered Juke, don’t laugh at them!

Various websites are reporting that Nissan IS working on a ‘Super’ Juke powered by the 530bhp 3.8-litre twin turbo V6 unit from the GT-R and capable of ‘hitting 200mph and covering 60mph in less than four seconds’.

Nissan GB told the websites that the project is real, but is refusing to reveal any more details.

This picture, leaked from inside Nissan shows the car’s extreme look complete with flared wheel arches, a stripped out interior and a huge rear wing that is split either side of the rear brake light.

Nissan say the car will emerge before the end of the year.

With that power to weight ratio I would expect the 0-60 time to be well under 3 seconds, given the various versions of the GTR35 are already capable of doing it in less than 4.

But if its too light it wont be able to put all the power down, I guess that might stop it being so quick? Also cant have their cross over being nearly as quick as their headline performance car ;)

Paul Wilcox, senior vice president of sales and marketing for Nissan in Europe, said: “Juke lends itself perfectly to a sports derivative and Juke-R explores that territory. It showcases two of the most exciting cars in our range and highlights the technical innovation that drives Nissan.â€

Two examples of the Juke-R will be produced – one each in right and left-hand drive. The interior is fitted with gauges, dials and the LCD screen from the GT-R. Although the car is road legal, it features competition-spec technology such as twin race seats, five-point harnesses and a competition-spec rollcage.

The Juke-R has been developed by motorsport preparation specialist RML, with input from the Nissan Technical Centre for Europe at Cranfield, Bedfordshire. The car is still in development and is expected to start testing in November.

Much want!

Why can't they just do a 3.7 V6 Juke as a kind of Murano replacement? The Juke seems a lot more popular.

Sneaky pic of the Micra too. ;)

A VERY exciting car in my opinion.

I'd like to see it in the Dakar rally B)
