Loved it but back then my insurance was £1500 a year and that's 14 years ago

:surrender:

Ouch! The addition of a Grandma with (~40 years no claims) to an insurance policy makes the world of difference...

I had one of these bad boys 18 years ago:

Head gasket used to go once a month without failure.

:lol::lol:

Stans got one now. :lol:

Think I had a 1.6 Rover coupe at 20. And that was £1500 to insure TPFT!

My dad still owns his first car that he bought in his teens, it's a corker built in the 20's, goes like a rocket.

We are currently restoring her and trying to work out a way that I can actually fit in it and drive it. Can't wait. I'll have 2 roadsters then :D

Mk1 Ford escort. Great car but a bit rusty.

I remember driving home one night and hearing a scraping noise on the road, stopped and the sill had rusted through and was dragging on the road. I just ripped it off and chucked it over a hedge (in those days littering was fun and trendy, not a hanging offence).

Needless to say it didn't pass the next MOT.

I had a white Celica ST also with the new shape Celica VVT-i gunmetal multi-spoke wheels when I was 17, very good cars. Reliable and dead cheap to run!!

I will get a photo up when I get hold of one!

The animated image at the bottom is what I always wanted my car to look like, didn't get round to finishing it off!

The photo quality ain't great as I did not have a great camera phone when I was 17 :lol:

White 1.3 mk1 escort with gloss black bonnet and rear end panel. Looked good at the time.
