It went down for about 30 seconds or something at about 1am? Not a problem but thought I'd say.

We seem to have a spike at ~1am every day - no idea what it is, but I'm guessing its a bad bot. Its on my hitlist to work out whats causing it :boxing:

whats happening with the chat... i'm missing asking anders if his tt build is finished yet

Currently being discussed by the team while we make sure the forum is now stable without it

btw, can recommend looking into xmpp and integrate that with the web frontend

 I got my own chat going did you miss that ? :teeth::p

Are you serving that off you home connection?

:help: my business broadband is serving *hosting the chat at the moment, real easy to setup on a VM (Virtualbox) Ubuntu backend  (so I can wipe it, rebuild it whenever), doesn't eat much cpu or memory either. (although not had a chance to really stress test it)

  • 2 weeks later...
OK, just tried it in IE and it's fine so not the site or my connection, guessing it's a plugin for FF5 gone haywire! :(

I've found the cuplrit! Could someone tell me what this script does:

http://350z-uk.com/A2EB891D63C8/avg_ls_dom.js

I got a java error message saying it was taking too long to load, added that script to my adblock and now everything works fine!

Hmmm appears to be something to do with AVG... so maybe my end...

Disabled link scanner in AVG and all is now fine... useful one for the knowledge base.

Further reading mentions:

"A serious bug in a component of the new AVG 2011 anti-malware products causes computers to flood websites with unnecessary HTTP requests and in many cases prevents users from properly using their browsers."

Maybe this was actually something to do with the problems the site has been seeing and the recent fixes have pushed the issue out on to browsers rather than the server? (Which is a good thing!).
