All I know is don't shift till you get that sexy exhaust note, then wait a little longer then shift. Ooooo still gives me pleasure.

Umm just read that again and it sounds kinda wrong.

i shift at about 2k when in town(unless going down a certain street i like cos it sounds amazing giving it beans and you dont even need to speed, just speed up, slow down, speed up, slow down etc etc), bout 2500 when hungover and about 6600 the rest of the time :)

The best economic performance is when a car reaches maximum torque I believe, read the section in the manual about how to set what revs the gear change light comes on at - I think it says set it to 4500rpm for max torque.

(And no I haven't read the whole manual... just wanted to know how to change the rev light settings)

There's a factory set shift light that tell you when to change gear ;)

It's user-set, not factory set ;)

i was told that the most economical way to drive any car is when the torque intersects with the hp in a dyno graph... is this correct?

No. 95% of all dyno plots will have them intersect at 5252rpm.

at what rpm should i shift?

thank you

Fuel economy???, Why did you buy the Z? Are you someone who keeps the average MPG display up?

The Z isn't economical. If you're worried about fuel economy you won't enjoy the car.

economy and the Z dont really come into it... like Husky's idea though...

I like this:

1st between 1200-1500

2nd to 4500 release accelerator and slow speed slowly to 1000 rpm, engage clutch > stop and hit 1st gear again...repeat.

nice poppy sounds

I haad to do a speed awareness course cause I got caught speeding. They done an econimical driving section with it and the dude said that the most economical way to drive is at 1800 revs no matter what gear you are in.

Aren't they set to a standard RPM at the factory? I thought it was something like 6500? I haven't played with it, it is just visual isn't it? I mean it doesn't allow the car to rev any higher? I know I should search ;)
