Sell the lot! Then buy a decent example instead of stressing over this steaming pile! Christ, I'll start a whip-round with my own money if it gets you away in something worthwhile. :bangin:

I'm sure WeBuyAnyOldTin would, like most car supermarkets, only be interested in standard examples, so I suspect you might be wasting you're time there.

I think everyone is overreacting a bit here personally. You won the car Amy and at the end of the day the repair of the few audio bits ect is going to be less than 1k. If I got a fully functional bumped and repaired Zed for that much I'd be chuffed. Whos to say the next Zed you buy wont develop a coolant problem and quite a few people replace the audio system any way.

The interior can go on ebay (some blind muppet will buy it) and you will probably get more than a stock interior is worth.

I think you should put the worries to the back of your mind and just enjoy it :)

Oh, and everyone most say they wont mod the Zed at first, though few people stick to it

Its a decent base to start with IMO, even if it costs you a few K to sort everything its still cheaper than building your own from standard :)

I for one was gonna leave the outside completely standard and not touch the engine at all and the stereo was fine for me

I've just had a K1 exhaust installed, in the process of putting a £550 stereo in it and will when I can afford upgrade the speakers

Have already toyed with the idea of having the engine remapped

Also if I could afford would be putting a bodykit on it

I have only read this thread now and thouigh it is dissapointing to have won a zed with issues, but from all i can gather will be a doddle to fix at practically little cost so i would worry too much or make a hasty decesion to sell. At the end of the day it is a free car and hence better than anything in my book :p

There has been many great suggestions already and you should have a methodical approach in sorting the issues.

You have to aim to sell-off/swap some stuff you don't particularly like oe care for off the car to raise cash or swap against parts which are more pressing. eg the 20" wheels, tuning bits etc.

Obviously the engine/mechanicals would come first then the cosmetic and so it would be really nice to have someone/garage who know the zed well to look at it and advice you what needs to be done rather that the "generalist" RAC chap who will earn £290 for his troubles and still leave you in the lurch

Is there no perfomance garage by your area? I know someone in Stevenage who might be able to help but is very busy but i can rope him in to help FOC. Give me a pm if you will consider this.

cheers

I'm more of the mind of 350z Russ, GT4 Zed & IanS16. You've got 3 cars there, so it gives you a little more time up your sleeve to sort things out. And with the possibility of one about to go, giving you extra funds. Sort each problem out, hopefully, fingers crossed nothing too major. But you're in the right place, wealth of knowledge here to help & to get parts/components at a reasonable price.

Good luck.

£10K for an FTO?

:scare::blink:

Only kidding. I liked my FTO. I liked it because it cost me just over a grand and had a V6. Handled quite well for a FWD too.

Oh and as for the rest of the stuff mentioned, I'd sell your other cars, repair the free Zed to your liking and keep some cash in your sky rocket.

Buying any second hand car, no matter how well it's been looked after, you're going to notice things you aren't happy with and faults will develop. Get the (ugly as a dead babie :dummy: ) bumper taken off, and get the engine checked over by a specialist. Then do the rest as and when the funds are available.

It's free! :drive1

To be honest i am getting the inspection to assess the repair from the crash.. not alot aligns.... so on monday morning at least ill know if shes straight and safe... if so ill prob keep! if not i wont keep!!

the engine issues i am hoping will not be too serious... and i know the interior can be sorted, and in mean time ill tint windows so no one can see the mess in there!

i know i sound down in the dumps even though ive won the car, but you guys dont know the half of all the stress with this! was meant to get it last may! and then to find out its badly damaged, and took that long to sort :( and now get it with engine management light, bad smell when accelerate , no v5, no proper key, alarm that doesnt work, bodywork not flush/alligned well at all, cracked carbon bonnet (that i bought it myself) traction control broken, no 'free insurance' they said theyd try get me, and a dirty mess of an interior in which nothing works! the whole sound system doesnt work, doesnt seem fit to purchase at min, let alone as a prize- however if rac say repair is fine and shes straight least ill wana keep it :)

lowered FTO to £7995... really need to sell that however all that £ will clear my debts! so 350 will take me ages to sort... but no debt and a nice car is great, i am grateful. its all the stress thats upset me .... a year of waiting and its not quite as advertised :(

still.... ill see what rac say.... my friends who have seen it and how bodykit/doors/boot / bonnet doesnt align well are suspicious and telling me its no good :( so lets see what the professionals say and go from there!

if shes straight and engines ok then ill be ok! the rest i can live with yes

wouldnt twisted car = unsafe?!?!?! :drive1

B) you'd twist it on the track either way  have you driven this car over say 60mph? How did it feel if you did? will RAC do a laser check to see if the chassi is straight? If it's not straight I'm wondering how it didnt become a right off (class D i think you guys call it), dont worry until bad news has been give (if they will be given). And I can understand what stress you might have gone through for 1 year of hassle but see it from the bright side you got a Z!!!! :teeth:
