GT4 Zed Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 Just getting into my Work carpark where the is 90deg left turn up a 5-10% incline to the automatic barriers and as i negotiated the bend and began to climb the hill the car just understeers straight into the high curbs which line both sides of the road Spilt my original CF veilside lip into two unequal halves and also banged the passenger side wheel enough to cause a buckle in the outer polished lip My entry speed was under 10-15mph as you can't go any faster and it all happened with 3secs! i barely turned into the skid and never really hit the brakes properly. Anyway it would not have done much as there is no room to manuoever with both curbs about half a meter or less either sides of the car and when i went out to check the dammage i promptly fell twice on a diabolically slippery tarmac there where two parking attendants standing next to a grit container and did not use any earlier as they felt conditions where oK today. Anyway to cut a long story short i will be taking up the carpark company for not providding appropriate car park fascilities despite as forking £254 yearly And for the record several other cars crashed in the same spot and withinn the car park today All i have to do now is to check for suspension dammage which was not apparent but i will see after i drive home now Quote
nixy Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 sorry to hear that - as for the car park attendents, some people clearly cannot be arsed - that sucks big style! Quote
DoogyRev Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 Sorry to hear about your accident, not good, I hope you get it sorted. The Grit boxes should be well used in this weather, could be a leverage point to get your damage fixed....... come to mention it I dont see so many grit boxes these days. Quote
ersen.o Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 gotta be carefull, i had my bus on opposite lock today, the backend hit black ice and it went out, luky i got control of it :x bad conditions out there Quote
Chris`I Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 Oh mate, that sucks. Make sure you get names and numbers of the others that had the same problem. If you can prove it was all because there was no grit then you should hopefully have a case. Quote
AK350Z Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 Thats poor mate, I take it it was ice you hit was it? Quote
IanS16 Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 Gutted for you Bennet - doesn't sound too bad though at least. Hope there isnt any suspension damage! £254!!! Quote
narcotix Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 Hope it all works out ok for you mate .... I've been worried about the driving conditions all week especially since I got stuck on Friday on a hill for a while ... Hope this weather sorts itself out soon ... I'm not enjoying driving too much at the moment ... Quote

neo-ninja Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 ah sorry to hear that, my worst nightmare actually! hit something in my work carpark, as parking is a bitch in there at the best of times, spaces are tiny, hardly any space to manover, horrible ramp down and tight turn in! Good luck fixing it! Quote
Chris`I Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 Thanks for all your kind words chaps and chapses i have just email the parking manager now and see what happens the whell will need changing and the VS frontlip is gone ....so gutted because it was an original just about to test out the suspension so will feedback tomorrow with pics if i can manage it! wish me luck Make sure you send a letter too Bennet, and make sure its recorded delivery so you can track it. Emails tend to fall into interweb black holes when they are something like this, perfect excuse to say they didnt get it and do nothing about it Quote
rtbiscuit Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 the front lip is saveable, even if you get a replacement, cost about £60 to repair, then you can sell it and someoen could have it sprayed to match the car, you get some cash back and someone else gets a front lip. Quote
Shaun1982 Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 Gutted for you mate, you wouldnt mind so much if you were arsing about or whatever I nearly went in to some metal railings tonight on my way to my girlfriends, its a pretty busy road in town to so i was lucky i was going slow & got a bit of grip back. While its been raining here tonight its got worse, its more like an ice rink now. hope you get it sorted asap mate & that those 2 ball bags, and manager for that matter cough up for it Quote
clarkie34 Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 Sorry to hear this mate. How I didn't kerb my wheels on Sunday when I got stuck is beyond me.Thought I hit them a couple of times while wheel spinning but must have been just the tyres as the rims seem untouched thank god. Quote
rich5259 Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 Sorry to hear you had a smash mate, hope it can all be sorted soon and without any argument from the parking company Quote
MITZ@CougarStore Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 Bennett, sorry to read this, hope the damage is minimal; I’ll give you a call tomorrow morning… Quote
RobD7 Posted December 24, 2009 Posted December 24, 2009 Feel for you mate, you always think you'll react to deal with situations like that but in the space of a second it's been and gone! Quote
yokomo Posted December 24, 2009 Posted December 24, 2009 feeling for ye , last time i curbed a rim becuase of slip/not concentrating enough i nearly cried. just be thank full the curb wasnt one of those super high ones than can damge your doors. if your lucky the rim and splitter took the brunt of it and thats it . Quote
Maccaman Posted December 24, 2009 Posted December 24, 2009 Feel for you Bennett. Not the situation you'd expect to damage your Zed but just shows how careful we all need to be in this weather. Hope its no more than you originally suspect. Quote
Husky Posted December 24, 2009 Posted December 24, 2009 ahh bennet, not good my friend new wheels time? Quote
H5 Posted December 24, 2009 Posted December 24, 2009 Sorry to hear it. Am thankful it's not the same result as a few cars near me that didn't make the corner at all though - nose down in a ditch / through the wall on the corner.... Quote
