Carbon Coops Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 i had the Z on the road last winter as i had lent my runaround out This year Z is all wrapped up with an indoor cover in the garage and wont be returning to the roads till march next year . RWD and snow is great fun tho, best car i ever drove in the snow/ice was my Nissan 200sx S14a which i dropped a skyline lump into v v v v v v sideways, the white stuff is a very good lube for the drift Quote

KJ. Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 I attempted to get my car out this morning.... FAIL! Made it about 12ft before the wheels just span up and it wouldn't budge. Had to dig the snow out from behind the car just so I could get back to where I was parked. Quote
cookiemonster Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 Just an obvious hint but lowered cars with a splitter and snow do not mix Took most of the snow off the roof and rear onto the floor at the back which then froze. Went to reverse out later on, cleared the exhaust but the front splitter caught it. Luckily the g/f noticed before i pulled away to quickly! Quote
350zStephen Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 it's blizzard weather just south of Glasgow and if it keeps up, I don't think i'll be able to get home tonight - Just typical that i've got VIP tickets booked to see Avatar. My zed was stuck on an icy steep road last night and I proper @*!# myself Quote
cookiemonster Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 Been sitting at work and just noticed on the hill infront of the glass windows at the gym.... Massive writing in snow saying "Run Fatty Run" Thats legendary! Quote
jim Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 I won't be able to reverse the zed into the garage up the hardstanding either.........my backside just wiggles. That would be worth seeing! Quote

Cookbot Posted December 21, 2009 Posted December 21, 2009 Took mine to an empty car park to 'play'! 5th gear donuts are where it's at. Quote
Fien Posted December 21, 2009 Posted December 21, 2009 My road is pretty quiet so managed to have some good fun on that when leaving the house, had even more fun on the way home when i turned the traction control off. Planted my foot down in second expecting to just get loads of wheelspin but was actually quite suprised by just how much grip it got. Quote
Ekona Posted December 21, 2009 Posted December 21, 2009 Took mine to an empty car park to 'play'! 5th gear donuts are where it's at. Good man, just make sure you don't get caught as you could be done for careless or even dangerous driving! Quote

I opted to not be a pansy and give it my best shot, made it to work, but damn, this time of year really wasn't best to convert from a fwd civic to a rwd beast! Quote
Danny 350Z Posted December 22, 2009 Posted December 22, 2009 The Zed is absolutely hopeless in this weather. I'm definitely buying a winter car next year. A rear wheel drive car with no weight over the back wheels is not a car you allow your wife to borrow as I had to rescue her yesterday from the bottom of a slight incline. All because she was too stuborn to drive the 107 I had got from Europcar. That changed when the Zed nearly went into a ditch. Quote
rtbiscuit Posted December 22, 2009 Posted December 22, 2009 i just did 500 miles without any problems, witha good set of tyres and plenty of tread it was no problem at all. did suffolk to york and the snow was crap leaving and crap at the other end but the zed did fine. Quote
Hamster Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 Been managing ok so far... even when the A1079 idiots were crashing and jackknifing lorries i was able to "tootle" by 5th gear 30mph is where its at.. haha All those who know Arras hill nr market weighton its possible to drift all the way up the top straight, and i wasnt even try ing haha! nixy Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 Just the mere mention of aras hill makes my blood run cold in this weather....... Quote
