Afternoon all,

Thought it was time to upgrade my head unit, just found this on ebay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Double-DIN-Android-5-1-Car-Headunit-DVD-Player-GPS-DAB-WiFi-3G-OBD2-DVR-BT-RDS-/191896277578?hash=item2cade8d24a:g:jFgAAOSw-4BXX73M

Ive had a search but cant seem to find an awful lot about them, anyone fitted similar how did you get on etc, problems and results etc?

Thnx in advance :)

Had loads of these cheap double din head units. Android ones an all. Years ago i only bought branded head units. No more. Functionality from these is greatly improved over anything branded. You only seem to get basic features from the likes of alpine etc. At least without spending eye watering money and only difference is it comes with a known badge. Enjoy fella. :)

Fitted this same unit a couple of weeks ago. Yes great functionality but had to take it out this week as it was causing a battery power drain. Something about the acc wire running through the cab bus possibly. Needs rewiring but haven't got to the bottom of it yet.

I am usually a brand snob but these new models seem to be getting good reviews, especially with the ugraded android 5.1. Think I may treat the 2nd car to one and run it for a while to see how it goes.

Taybo - I read somewhere that the xtrons have their red/yellow (i.e acc power/permanent power) wires should be swapped to ensure no drain. If you are loosing memory functions i.e. radio settings then give that a go

I've got a similar one fitted, been good only issue i have is any time it tries to up date it keeps saying it has no space for data. I've got extra USB and micro SD cards fitted and moved all the apps it would let me over to them but it still says i'm short on space. I'm sure it will be an easy fix I've just not sussed it out yet.

How about cheaper ones like this.

http://www.ebay.co.u...4AAAOSwtnpXoGND

Or EVEN CHEAPER

Was thinking about getting the 55 quid 1

55 quid one seems too good to be true. Screen must be total shite, no? Someone buy one and let us know!

P.S. I'm impressed by the OBD2 of the one in the OP. Handy.

I have the top one of those and it's very, very, good for the money, although it's not android. I will upgrade to android when I can face diving into the spider's web of wiring again lol

Hi Stan, yes read about the red and yellow live wire swap. Mine is not fitted atm. Waiting for a sat nav cubby to arrive before refit and sort wiring issues.

But check first before changing any wiring! my new Xtrons android 5.1 HU wiring was correct as far as Yellow/Red goes.

I am a fan of the generic unbranded stuff, run through a decent amp and they sound very good, although i did buy an android at the beginning of the year and not got on with it all when it comes to wifi downloads, always seemed to have signal issues even with near full wifi showing.

Can anyone recommend a good android one that has a removable face or screen with sat nav, dab, dvd, camera inputs. Been looking for a name brand buy there's nothing I like less than £700. Budget of around £200.
