Advice when changing steering wheels

Thought I would just say to save people a lot of money, when changing your standard steering wheel or anything to do with steering column be very careful when moving, I changed my standard wheel for a tasty sabelt suede steering wheel and hkb boss but I managed to break what's known as the squib? Which has caused traction, abs and airbag lights to appear, this little item is £300 from Nissan and as far as I know you can only use a genuine Nissan part for this. So just a heads up be careful or get a professional.

That link takes you to his username profile or at least it does on my laptop. Not sure why it wouldn't work for you though on your mobile.

Try this instead ~ he posted in this thread: http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/106331-2006-front-tow-hook-cover/#entry1593904

So what does this 'squib' look like? Where is it located? And how do you avoid breaking it?

I've got an aftermarket boss and wheel to fit soon, so any hints and tips would be appreciated.

Thanks

You just have to careful really.

So easy to swap wheel.

Undo two torq screws to remove airbag.

Unclip airbag and steering control connector.

Undo the nut and remove wheel.

Install new horn connector and resistor to connector.

Install hub straight lining up plate behind into slot on hub.

Screw down the nut.

Install flat plate.

Install wheel

Connect horn to flat plate and wire from connector previously installed

Push horn in place.

Boom and you have a new aftermarket wheel installed
