So I recently started out looking for ways to add performance to my MX-5 Arizona, and as if by magic, I'm now the proud owner of a 2006 350Z... I guess I doubled my horses in a day, which isn't a bad performance increase if you ask me! Couple of quick Q's if you don't mind... The mileage is at 87K, which didn't bother me too much as the condition is spotless and comes with the full service history and all P1/2/3's completed on schedule over the years. Are there any common faults to look out for around this age and mileage? Also, who are the local go-to specialists for servicing and so on in Shropshire or the surrounding area? At 87k i'd maybe start putting some money aside for a clutch replacement, if it hasn't had one already. other than that if its followed the service schedule it should be fine! edenc Posted November 5, 2015 Share Posted November 5, 2015 Hi Lee What a novel way of upgrading the output of your car! I am going to take a closer look at my V-Max12 and see if there is a way of getting it to the same output of V-Max17. My guess is that about £13k should do it I have only been active with the forum for a few months though having owned my Zed for 18 months. Kicking myself for not getting involved sooner, of course. Where else does all the good info come from? Mine is at 51K and I have just a little clutch creak and 1st to 2nd isn't as smooth as it could be so I now have everything I need to drain and refill the gearbox with some treatment fluid. Hopefully that will sort the very slight clunkyness of the change up, but the creaking is, I am led to believe, a sign that the clutch will need to be dealt with in the next 10k or so. Dual mass flywheel at the same time while the box is dropped. That aside, I spent quite a long time reading up on 350s in early 2014 and they are generally put into the 'bulletproof' category. The VQ35ED was voted engine of the year for about 5 years running so as Brillomaster says, follow the book and you should get as little trouble as can be expected. The only things I miss about the '5 were its sheer nimbleness and agility on a tight and twisty road as well as the controlable behaviour at the limit (used to use mine for autosolo's) the zed is a bit of a different beast!
