  1. Hey, managed to find that PDF - wow my filing system works! 370Z Headlight Adjustment.pdf Apologies, just saw the date on this. Came through as new on an email client on hols I haven't fired up in a while...Doh! Might be useful so I'll leave it.
  2. Hiya, I recently found a post about adjusting headlamp positions up and down as my 70Zed roadster's were slightly too high on one side. There is an external screw for each lamp; vertical position only. I downloaded a PDF which explained how to get the positioning correct for the UK (presumably Europe would be the same in reverse) but I haven't got around to changing yet as my trip was a month ago, only a short distance into France, on the solstice and short notice so I left the lights off and took what I perceived to be a very small risk of being knicked. Additionally it was only a long weekend trip for pleasure and only a short distance into France. I am on hols at the moment and don't have the PDF from Nissan to hand, but I'll try to remotely dig it up off of my home server and post it here. When do you go? One important thing I DO remember, however, was that on the PDF it was clearly stated that the headlights on the 70Zed are constructed from RESIN not GLASS and as such, adhesive based kits would cause damage. You might want to independently verify this with a dealer (internet, public domain etc, etc). Cheers

Yep, the vast majority of accidents are caused by a moments stupidity whether that be stupid for not paying attention, stupid for being enthusiastic, stupid for many many other reasons, but in reality it's like sailing. It's a series of things going wrong in succession that all culminate in an event and there'll probably be human error in the decision making process somewhere as well as circumstance. But ta, I hear you.
  4. BTW meant to say I saw the weirdest thing whilst in France. A beautiful, rose black 370Z sporting a tow bar (on a French plate)!!!! And even stranger, it was fixed, not a removable swan neck! My buddy with the Exige and I deliberated for quite some time over this disturbing anomaly and I came to the conclusion that he must have a 750 MV Augusta that he tow's about. There can't be any other excuse. That at least would be two out of the three most beautiful things made by man co-joined (the third being a MkII Supermarine Spitfire). So if you lot have any other reasonable excuses for having a fixed tow bar on a 370Z, I'd love to hear them. Wish I had taken a photo!
  5. A very heart felt 'Thanks for the condolences yawl'. I had been away for a weekend in Honfleur with my wife, my mate and his wife. My mate was in his Lotus Exige S. Real bummer as we'd behaved in exemplary fashion all weekend, abiding (pretty much) by all speed restrictions and just having a bit of straight line fun. Came home on Eurotunnel and arrived next door to my mate at a traffic controlled roundabout. I need to be careful what I say here in case there some insurance detective prowling the web (just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get you) Well, just off the roundabout there is a tight left hand entry to a short stretch of dual carriageway. Problem was that being with a 3.5 litre, supercharged go-kart all weekend I had switched the ESP off to give that little extra where it was needed in a straight line; I forgot to turn it back on so on the tight left hand entry to the dual carriageway the back broke out and I over-corrected. A tank-slapper ensued, followed by a 180 which slammed the car into the near side curb and crash barrier where (after the driver side airbag had gone off and deafened me...yes, the simulated effect in Need for Speed, Most Wanted is accurate) we came to a standstill. Oh! and in the process I had clipped the nearside rear quarter panel of my mates Exige! In the photo, I was scrubbing the dust and tarmac dust out of my hair. Not something I have had to do since I turned my 1500 Triumph Spitfire over 20 years ago, but man, it brought the memory back afresh. I am insured with Admiral and they have been absolutely brilliant so far. Suffice to say that we switched to them after I was hit by someone in the wrong lane at a roundabout who then fell off the radar; this is about four years ago. Direct Line (my insurer) did nothing to progress the claim and in the end Admiral who insured the girl who hit me called and said that given I had a witness, their insured had disappeared and my insurer was sitting with their thumbs up their butts, they wanted to give me a courtesy car and take mine off for repair. All I had to do was sign a document to say that in the absence of their insured, this was without prejudice. You know what, they gave me a MB C350 as a courtesy car to boot! They have already been in touch with my bro in the Exige and his is being taken away and dealt with already. I am awaiting a decision on mine as to uneconomical repair but I think I may get the same car back. I have lost two years no claims, but that's peanuts in the big picture. You have all said the same thing that my buddy in his Exige said when I promised him that no matter what, he would not be out of pocket for this even if I have to cover a loss of value at sale time owing to evidence of a bump. "it's just stuff. The wheels are insured and more importantly, we walked away". Well apart from the fact that my wife and I had to get a cab home because his car was too fing small to get a gnats cleavage into, let alone our weekend satchel, I wholeheartedly agree. I'll keep you posted on how the repairs/writeoff go and in the case of the latter a BIG hunt begins.

  7. I approve. Nice colour too! I would ask "why Lola?", but that might be prying The smiles rarely stop and even when you think you might not have done, you think back and realise you did. I have the same with Kim...as in Kardashian because she has a large but strangely alluring bottom. My previous Zed 'Phworrrrr!' didn't fail to crinkle the lips either. Enjoy!!

  9. Okay, so what I did find today through just tinkering was rather neat. As I said previously, mine is a '10/60 roadster so I don't know what VIN numbers or body type combo's this will apply to ... I have been using the unlock button (request switch) on the external door opener rather than fumbling about in one of ten pockets on my cargo shorts to get to the 'intelligent' fob. This also stops my missus standing on the other side of the car waiting for me to me to remember to press the fob twice to get the passenger door open. She can press the request switch on her side. I went out to the car a earlier and wondered what would happen if I held the drivers side request switch down and to my big grins, it puts the windows down both sides and if I continue to hold....even bigger grins, the hood goes down. I would be surprised if this didn't operate the windows on non-roadsters.
  10. Picked up my 370Z roadster yesterday and thought the "window on the fob" would be a feature. Like you infinitig37s, I read the "This function will not operate, blah, blah, TIMER, blah, blah, WINDOWS NEED TO BE INITIALISED. Mine is a '10(60). I am going to call my local dealer about getting the steering lock patch done so will see if they can help on specific models and dates with the window issue at the same time.
  11. Hey and good to hear you've found it impossible to not go back. Also nice to get some feedback on the transition from 350 to 370. I pick up my 370 Roadster on Monday. My Mrs. is from Southend so I spend a bit of time there with in-laws and can say from experience that the 350 Roadster gets far more attention than the throngs of SLK's, Z4's and A4 Cabrios that stuff Thorpe Bay to the rafters. My brother-in-law (still in Southend here) took mine out last weekend and returned with a huge smile just from the head turning. Take care and enjoy.
  12. Definitely a good choice if you want to be in an enthusiasts car and one that you see rarely. Agree with TT350 on his points whole heartedly. Back in the late 80's I brought a Triumph Spitfire 1500 and loved the camaraderie as much as the car itself. The Zed has been a return to that. So much so that my 350 Roadster is being collected on Friday and I pick up my 370 Roadster on Monday. Can't see a time (finances allowing) that I'll be without one. Enjoy and enjoy and enjoy.....

  15. Ahhh, that seemed like too much of a thing to hope for, without wanting to hit the panic button. I'll give it a bit of time...and try to find the Nissan TSB to be proactive. Thanks for the input Paul
  16. Hi all, Just getting my Zed ready to sell and the last thing I really had to do was put a new hood on. Naturally, I waited 'till it was ready to go assuming all would be well. However, everything was fine until I noticed that with the new hood fitted the fifth bow wouldn't quite seal against the hatch lid. We're talking about half an inch here, if that; just enough to let moisture in. I have read up on the dreaded 5th bow motor problems that can affect all models, but seem pronounced on the =>2004 but this isn't the motor, of that I am sure. So, when putting the hood up everything is fine, the hatch lid closes, the fifth bow drops, the fifth bow motor closes so that the loop has dropped into the hatch lid, the Auto Lock Motor pulls the 5th bow down, but doesn't pull it completely tight against the hatch lid. There is plenty of give in the roof fabric to allow for the discrepancy and I make sure that the header handle is left undone in the cockpit to keep everything loose. I thought maybe the hood needed to bed in a bit, but it's been on for a few days and operated up and down a fair bit so I don't think it's that. I found a thread on a site where someone had entered this which looks like it might be addressing the issue but I can't, for the love Pete, find the technical service bulletin. It's probably just my search terms, but has anyone come across this issue or the Nissan TSB referred to? I have 370Z roadster in my cross-hairs and this is the only thing standing between me and it. Well that and the minor issue of selling this, of course. Any input greatly received. P.S. Sorry about the fat fingered spelling of 'Roadster' in the title. Doh!
  17. Thanks for the post here. Like other, I feared having to remove the door card so such a quick fix is groovy. One step closer to putting her up for sale and one step closer to a 370z roadster.
  18. Hi fella and hope you get a goodun' one way or the other. Personally I would steer clear of an import for several reasons, but uppermost in my mind is the mileage. I have an imported (from Canada) Yamaha Vmax and was prepared to buy it because it I knew I'd not get many miles in a year so not knowing the true mileage wasn't overly important as long as everything else stood up to scrutiny, which it did. The problem with imported bikes is that the mileage doesn't have to be verified and I have been led to believe that it's the same for imported cars, hence their values. It is, as has been pointed out, unusual to have Brembo's on an import and my guess would be that they're the cheap plastic covers shoved atop the calipers. Hope it all goes well.
  19. Nice one. Look forward to seeing the pics. Just getting my 350z Roadster ready to sell for a 370z and am yet undecided on the flappy paddles. Look forward to hearing what you think of the gearbox responses. I had a Merc C350 CDi Blue Efficiency 7 speed that was very impressive indeed, then a Jag XF-S 6 speed which was as responsive but with a 6 speed box less torque-y and currently a Merc R350 CDi with a 5 speed and flappies which is useless. Actually, I think it's designed more for engine braking on down changes and to limit higher gear selection on heavy loads, so perhaps my chagrin is unwarranted there. Anyhoo, hope the time flies to pickup. What colour?

The Mrs is from Southend and there won't be another....a little how I felt about my first Zed exposure, but I am about to part with our 350z Roadster for a 370 drophead. Interested in the gixxer! Post some pics. I loved the frames on those. Had a 750WN myself and now (owing to the 'your're going to leave your kids fatherless' argument, have a VMAX. Enjoy the toy bro

  22. Nice one! 6 months ago, eh! That means you would have got it in time for the summer Nice roads up there in Norfolk and Suffolk. Unfortunately, whenever I get up there its for family occations so I never get to go and enjoy the roads in the Zed. First 370Z Roadster I saw in the flesh was in Wells-next-to-the-Sea; Hmmmmm!
