  1. Enjoy hunting down that Zed. It's out there waiting for you and your name is written all over it. You were meant to be together! Shucks! Call me and old romantic...
  2. Top bananas on the purchase and with that reg, one can only say....well...much Kudos. Whatever you do to it, post it.
  3. Dude! Nice one! Have you picked it up yet? Pics as soon as you can, please. Big grins ahead!
  4. Whoa! Nice! There's a danger of LED mods looking takky IMHO, but not that one. Kudos for having the testicles to take a grinder to the mirror housing too. Is there much space to get the wiring into the door panel and down to the loom?
  5. Hi Lee What a novel way of upgrading the output of your car! I am going to take a closer look at my V-Max12 and see if there is a way of getting it to the same output of V-Max17. My guess is that about £13k should do it I have only been active with the forum for a few months though having owned my Zed for 18 months. Kicking myself for not getting involved sooner, of course. Where else does all the good info come from? Mine is at 51K and I have just a little clutch creak and 1st to 2nd isn't as smooth as it could be so I now have everything I need to drain and refill the gearbox with some treatment fluid. Hopefully that will sort the very slight clunkyness of the change up, but the creaking is, I am led to believe, a sign that the clutch will need to be dealt with in the next 10k or so. Dual mass flywheel at the same time while the box is dropped. That aside, I spent quite a long time reading up on 350s in early 2014 and they are generally put into the 'bulletproof' category. The VQ35ED was voted engine of the year for about 5 years running so as Brillomaster says, follow the book and you should get as little trouble as can be expected. Being garaged helps or at least a cover if you have offstreet parking.
  6. Mate, lovely looks. It does become rewarding as things start to pickup and cleanup bit by bit. I've just received my new gear knob which, unlike your original and expensive item, is an aftermarket, albeit Z logo'd. Tell me, if you get a moment, how to get the old one off I have the silver, lower gator ring removed from the tunnel but for the life of me can't see how to release the gator itself. There is a plastic clip holding it on but there doesn't seem to be an obvious way to get it off. I am sure I saw a thread on this somewhere, but can't relocate it so any pointers would be much appreciated. Cheers P.S. Have same Zed as yours in colour and model except for I have the flimsy roof
  7. Hello and congrats on the Zed. I did a drive a few years back with wife no.1 right down through France to Dijon hung a left and went up through the Montblanc Tunnel into Italy and stayed on Lake Como for a bit. Then went on the the Amalfi Coast and Monaco. Took a few weeks. Last year wife mkII and I drove to Honfleur for a short, 4 night stay on out 13th anniversary. Beautiful drive down and loads of coastline to explore for days out. We plan to do that again next year starting in our much loved Le Touquet. Whatever you do, you'll love it.
  8. Look forward to seeing your 350.
  9. Looking forward to seeing those photos. Oh! and if you get bored of those boring, boring, boring looking wheels, just let me know and I'll relieve you of them...for a small fee.
  10. Hey Grant. I have found the whole 'extension' thing a mixed blessing...from a zed owners perspective, of course. We recently finished phase 1 of our extension and are about to embark on phase 2. I don't know about you, but I have found the advantages are; one, generally while the work commences, the kids are at school or elsewhere. Two, it's great to have the carefree enthusiasm to pop and get that box of gauge 10, 3 inch screws you forgot for the third time this week rather than what would be the more normal self analysis of memory, age and alchohol abuse and three, you likely to be by far the most conversation worthy car outside Screwfix today. Disavantage; if it's more than the box of screws and a teabag needed you'll be cursing having to take the other car! May lots of zed induced grins be coming your way!
  11. ...and may a long road of invioluntary grinning lay ahead of you. I have suspected my clutch for some time and, having been advised to get the dual mass FW done at the same time because of the labour, been looking at clutch/FW kits, mainly on ebay, the better ones loooking being LuK. If you get any pointers in any direction on this I'd interested to know. Also, as a precautionary nod, I was told to make absolutely sure that whoever does the work knows exactly what they're doing. Apparently the bolts for the flywheel have to be tightened in a specific order and, obviously, to the correct torque to avoid the risk of a leak. From what I remeber being told, this characterises itself as a creaking clutch pedal when depressed. I am sure I teaching you suck eggs, but just in case you weren't aware....
  12. Nice one. Funny how you never tire of looking at them!
  13. Very 'Darth Vader'...who, as we know, was way cooler than Luke Skywalker.
  14. Age is a state of mind and at 46 my mind is in a right state. Still have a Zeds though, so we're still young...ish
  15. Hey Syy. This forum, like many, doesn't allocate space for file upload so you have to put images elsewhere on the web and link to them. Look forward to seeing your zed
  16. Ughh! I just had one of those Plato moments. You know, when you realise that you know just enough to understand how little you know! A great read. Going to bed one G&T too many later, but inspired.
  17. Bummer about that tree, but I'm sure it'll all come good. My Z seemed to take it's fondness for my left foot a bit too litterally only last week when, from outside the car whilst chatting to my father, preparing to leave his gaff, I stretched my left leg in to depress the clutch to start the car. It was, until just a few, short moments later, a lovely afternoon so I decided to put the roof down and moved my foot from the clutch to the brake, forgetting that when I arrived at my mother and father's house 4 hours earlier I had put the Zed in first gear to stop it rolling down the marginal incline and into the back of their car that I was directly behind(I really should have tightened up the handbrake by now!). My foot never made it to the brake pedal! The Z leapt forward as the clutch disengaged and ran, on high tickover, straight into the back of my dad's Citroen Picasso and proceeded to push it down the drive until it stalled with a little help from a large shrub! I am very thankful that my father never believed in owning expensive cars. So, you can inform that newly made acquaintance of yours (the tree) that some idiots manage to drive their Zed's into stuff without actually being in the driving seat.
  18. Just posted a pic or two of mine. Do you know what year the headlights changed from yours to mine (or visa-versa)? Or maybe it's an import thing? I am kinda keen on the orange illuminated strip (or dots on mine). Whilst I am not keen on a lot of the DLR's that havbe been mandatory on new cars since 2011, this is taseful and less 'Blackpool-illuminations-ish' IMHO. Sorry, just reread your post. Assume Silvatecs are replacement fitments? I briefly considered fitting replacements lights myself last year as mine were going 'milky' but discovered that high grit wet and dry together with Mothers Headlight Restorer did a great job for about £400 less than replacement units. Yay!
  19. So then; some pics: - 1. The arm rests with numerous, tatty scratches covered. Not perfect, but a BIG improvement. Drivers side done also. The Gearknob that requires either the same treatment or a replacement. This is a nice replacement I found by m_tech-engineering on ebay. The knackered glovebox release thumbswitch that needs to be done. CREE LED's (sorry, taken quickly and exposed for the car, not the lights. Doh! Will post improved pic soon) Japspeed end cans & slashcuts. Oh! and beesting antenna, of course. Gratuitous shot of my car, 1* Gratuitous shot of my car, 2* Gratuitous shot of my car, 3* And another one * It is, of course, my wifes car too (Just in case she ever reads this thread. Spineless, I know!)
  20. No, but I'll drop some here next time I move the car. It's an interesting job changing them. having to get the front of the car up, wheels off, inner arch linings out (with bolts rust-welded in place) and then a challenging reach to the power line plugs. As a first timer it took me nearly two hours! I am not sure about the stock side lights but the CREE LED's are polarity dependent, though they don't blow if they're the wrong way around. How do find your Japspeed system? I was pleased with the slight power gain and general feel of easy breathing, but a but let down with the change in exhaust note. I knew that a system without resonators would be different but it was enlghtening to hear just how much of an effort Nissan had gone to to achieve that sound. The thing is, I bought mine with the Japspeed on and to me it sounds good - at low speeds its not toooo loud neither at high speeds if you're just cruising - but when I throttle it the exhaust note kicks in - how was the standard exhaust sound you had before? I found the stock system a really nice pitch and expected the Japspeed to improve upon that. Interestingly the note lowered with the new system so I found myself hitting the self imposed red line non-stop foir a while thinking it sounded like it had a while to go when it didn't. I haven't yet had my wife drive it down the road so I can hear it from the curbside. Feels like a getting a bit carried away, bit will do it as some point. Also, the cab noise with the roof UP makes it less comfy for long drives. I am wondering how much the effect is exascerbated by the very wide slash-cuts on the ends.Am contemplating cutting them off and finishing with some 3inch slip overs rather than the 4.something inch slash cuts. Going to upload some pics. You'll see what I mean.

  22. Good morning, I am a newbie user on this forum and having searched and found great information over the past 18 months, I thought it rude to go any longer without saying 'hi'. I have a 2006 Roadster which I purchased last May with 43k on it. I am guessing that my reasons for the purchase were as complex and, in the end, as persuading as everyone else's when measuring the competition. Ultimately and aside from the reliability, the everyday useability, the looks and the NOT the tax bracket, I love the fact that I have only seen about three others OTR in the last 6 months. That number would be per 300 yards on a sunny day in a Boxter or an SLK. So, last May I quickly ran up a raft of things to do; all aesthetics within the remit of 'delicate' and all mechanicals 'as soon as I can grow my testicles'!; I have only ever done basic servicing work. However, in the intervening period since last I carried out an oil change, I have acquired a nice, warm garage so work enatailing spanners and the like should be more comfortable than before. So far:- Changed the exhaust for a full, stailness Japspeed system owing to a blowing Y piece after 12 months of ownership. CREE LED side lights (sounds pathetic when I say it out loud, but the difference is huge). Pulled the plastic armrests out to give three coats of paint and a coat of clear laquer as I could not stand seeing the key scratches every time I got in. Next:- Gearbox oil change. Now have Mannol 75/90 and Slick 50 Gearbox in stock (please feel free to berate my uninformed choices publicly). Fit Pop Charger intake - unless anyone has reasons to advise not to. New sterio head unit fit. I have briefly seen threads posted here which I will be returning to. Figure out how to get the door to the glovebox out so I can do to the knackered looking thumb release lever what I have already done to the door card armrests. New roof covering next year as mine has come away at the stitching where the 'hinge' meets the top of the OSF door shut. New gear knob. Stock item scratched and scuffed. Itsy, bitsy, teeny, weeny boot spoiler. An eye to the future: - 370Z Roadster A big thanks to everyone who has posted all the useful stuff I have used to date such as whoever posted the useful snippet in here explaining that the gearbox drain and fill plug washers don't need to be replaced saving me the hassle of finding parts. The sun just came out and if I didn't have to get on with laying underfloor heating at the behest of my wife, I'd be using one of the many, now well worn excuses to go somewhere in the Zed. Cheers for now.
  23. Ooooh! Just tried to find a green emoticon without success. What's the delivery date?
