  1. I was demonstrating the use of the semi-colon, I thought you'd appreciate it!
  2. In fact, I have emailed them on this, lets see what they come back with. I don't expect a rapid response, though!
  3. Okay, so I've had a chance to read that and it's an interesting one. On the one hand they (the Ombudsman) are saying that insurance companies cannot penalise you for spent convictions, which is why they ask you for up to five years' worth of details (for totting purposes it's 3 years, after 4 you can have them removed from you licence, but they're not officially spent until 5 years). A speed awareness course (SAC for the sake of brevity) is not a conviction, and as such I would say that, based on that Issue 25, you do not have to tell insurers about SAC as they are not allowed to penalise you for it. However... They are allowed to penalise drivers who have had a claim, regardless of fault. They are allowed to penalise drivers who have had a speeding conviction. As such, why should they not be allowed to penalise people who have clearly been caught speeding? Points or SAC, the crime is identical and should be treated as such. On this subject I'm actually going to side with the insurer I think, and I would be interested to hear the opinion of the Ombudsman on this subject now, given how popular SAC are in lieu of points and that the article Haydn linked to is 9 years old. I might drop them a line and ask.
  4. Sounds interesting, I'll have a good read of that article later> Thanks for the heads up
  5. ...which wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't quite so sensitive. You can fool it when trail braking, but you have to be incredibly precise or it'll try and tip the car more than you expect. I've managed it on occasion, but to do consistently is almost impossible. For 99% of drivers it's a non-issue, and they wouldn't notice either way, but if you must have absolute control over everything then this is a cracking way to do it.
  6. Ah, you must be new around here. We don't do common sense, we do moaning after we've been caught for speeding on a dull straight road. You'll soon pick it up, don't worry.
  7. Probably the easiest thing to do, even if you pay him the extra to cover it.
  8. Then he's wrong. If your insurer asks you if you have any penalty points or have been convicted in the last year, the answer is no. If they ask you if you've had any speed awareness courses, then the answer is yes and it's up to the insurer whether they load your premium or not. 99% don't, but if your one does then you are legally obliged to tell them the truth. Personally I'd be taking my business elsewhere at that point anyway. They can ask you whatever they like, and if you choose to answer then you must be truthful. If you choose not to answer then they may choose not to offer you insurance.
  9. If you're driving, then you must make sure the vehicle is taxed. The RK can be done as well, so you'd both be in poo avenue. The vehicle should be SORN'd if not taxed, but that is up to the RK. Post office route is one way, as is taxing online.
  10. You'll be bending over before Big Black Bubba before you know it!
  11. Cool as anything. Lovely interior.
  12. After my own experience, I would always recommend changing both slave and master at the same time as it's the labour to bleed the system that makes up most of the job, not the actual parts.
  13. I think we need a better definition of decent boot space, as none of the other cars suggested (excluding Ricey's) has anything like what I would call decent boot space.
  14. E91 330D. Around £8K, loads of boot space, RWD and bags of torque, definitely younger than the Zed.
  15. I'm so glad I didn't buy the Hero2 last month. I need this in my life.
  16. I have absolutely no idea, but as this is a tyre thread I'm pretty sure the world will implode if I don't at least post in here Might be worth seeing what the major OEM manufacturers recommend, as they're unlikely to be too far off the top of the list (Merc, Audi, Porsche etc).
  17. Not on iPad, it doesn't. Nothing here at all. Never mind, not a major issue.
  18. None here, on iOS 6 iPad. I can see ones posted since the upgrade, but no old ones. I also can't see a list of smileys to click to use either. Also, www.350z-uk.com goes straight to a directory list, not the splash page.
  19. I can't see any smileys anywhere. Am I missing the obvious?
  20. Blimey, it's like the end of the world or something! It's only gone down for a day, that's nothing.
  21. That's possibly the worst bit of advice I've seen for quite a while. Even if you look at my original post as being a bit defeatist (which, I admit, on reflection it was and the consensus of arguing your point in court over the £100 is probably a good idea), just ignoring it isn't an option any more. You either need to pay or contest, ignoring it is going to look terrible on you when they take you to court, which they're far more likely to do now they have a much better chance of getting you to cough up.
