    Going backwards

Decision made. Once the 911 sells, I'm getting a Zed. The more I think about it, the more I want one again.
  2. There are nice parts of Essex y'know

    Exhaust Temperature

EGT on an NA car is usually around the 600-800c mark, turbocharge that and you can add a good 200c to those temps. Backbox won't get that hot, but exactly what temp it will reach I couldn't tell you. Buy a cheap infra-red temp gauge off eBay and measure it
  4. A healthy dose of Megs Ultimate Compound followed by Menzerna FF3000 should get most things out using a DA, and anything over that is probably going to need repainting. Whilst I firmly respect the action that Dave took, it's not something I would ever consider doing myself nor would I recommend others do it. Kids these days don't respect the fact that once both sides have had their pop, then it's over. Now it's all reprisals over and over and over, and escalating all the time. Back in my day (and I'm only 32!) you could end up with a huge punch up on a Friday night, then once it was over you'd more than likely end up drinking with the bloke until the small hours. Maybe that's just because I'm from a relatively small town and city life is different, but that's how it was.
  5. Lands End to John O'Groats in one day, then tour the Highlands. Isle of Man, just all of it. Best driving roads anywhere IMHO, those two.
  6. All pomp and bluster, it'll never happen. Which is a massive shame, as it's a terrific idea. Well, apart from the not being able to drive at night unless you're going to work or college (because obviously you'll never drive like a knob if you were doing that...), but the rest of it works. Make it 16 not 16.5, and make the power output below a certain level not engine size. Bring in 10 year re-tests for all drivers too, might actually improve driving standards in this country.
  7. What have you tried to remove the scratches with so far? Pics would be good too.
  8. I've seen various films on various different cars, and the following is generally true on all of them: Yes, it's noticeable. Not from a distance, but definitely from arms length. If it gets hit by a stone, it will mark just like paint. Not as easily, and you still have the paint underneath, but there will be a mark you cannot get rid of. They do yellow with age, but we're talking years rather than months. With a garaged car that only came out for shows I very much doubt this would ever be an issue, as it's the UV that does the damage. You'll never get as good a finish as you can with just paint. The shine simply isn't there. In terms of how well it protects the paint, it does an exceptional job. It will still look battered and worn, but once you peel it off then underneath is immaculate. I've considered it on most of my cars, and I always come to the conclusion that since a front-end respray is equal to or less than the cost of having the film professionally applied, you might as well just budget for a respray once every couple of years instead.
  9. I may well take you upon that mate, you coming to the meet on Saturday? Could bring it with me then.
  10. You've seen my handiwork, clean edge and me never go together!
  11. That's ace, cheers bud Not sure how it was made, bought it off eBay for cheaps on the principle that if it was rubbish then I'd just buy a new bit. Think I'll end up using the resin, save any issues with cracking,
  12. It's to be used as a panel in a centre console to mount a set of window switches, a tiny digital clock and a mobile phone mount. The switch is the bit I need to cut out, the clock I'll stick and the phone mount I may stick or screw.
  13. MPSS are now the de-facto choice of performance tyre for the discerning driver.
  14. As good a place for this as any, hopefully someone here will have a bit more knowledge on this than I do! I've got a small piece (A5 size) of 2mm thick carbon fibre that I need to first of all cut to size, and then I need to cut a section of it out so I can fit something in there as well as mounting other bits to it. Never having worked with the stuff before, what's the best tools to use for this and how likely am I to crack it or just completely **** it up? My theory would be to cut it using a dremel or similar, and the same again to take the section inside out. What about using self-tapping screws? Is that okay, or do I need to be drilling it and using a nut and bolt? What about gluing something to it: Superglue okay, or resin or a silicone-based product? Any hints and tips would be great, thanks.
  15. My old man owns a Hummer H2. He has no issues parking inside regular size car park spaces. If he can do it, then anyone can and there is zero excuse for it. The height of the thing is a different story, and renders every multistory car park unusable!
  16. If you park like the person in the photo above, you're a moron who doesn't deserve a driving licence. End of.
  17. The improvements outweigh losing Google Maps and YT. The improved speed on Safari alone is worth it.
  18. I've had second thoughts about the ad and have amended it to remove the line in question. My justification for it being there originally still stands, but the more I think about what Sarnie is saying the more I think he's correct. Cheers for the honesty mate
  19. I had the exact same thought myself Sarnie, and almost left it out. I left it in though as I didn't want people to think I'm taking the p*ss on the price just for a laugh, and that it was a considered thought. That said, if no-one bites in a couple of weeks I may remove it to see if that makes any difference.
  20. Thanks chaps, I've never actually written a car ad before and it took me longer than I thought it would if honest. Hopefully it reads ok, I just kinda put in what I'd want to see in an ad.
  21. You're more than welcome mate, I can chat about these things forever! E-Type isn't exactly a hardship either, truly wonderful cars. You're a lucky man
  22. I'm sure I could arrange some kind of payment plan since it's you mate
  23. Now for sale, if anybody fancies her. Going to be hard to let her go, but priorities change and it's time to move on I think. Unless I get a lottery win soon, in which case I'm keeping her!
