  1. MX-5s are the way to go. Got mine for £900, strip it out and add seat £120, harness £50, and roll bar £200, and you're there. Anything else is just adding performance if you want to, but for sub-£1500 you've got a perfect trackday car that's incredibly cheap to run as it's so light. No point in track insurance for something that cheap, just consider it expendable. Even if you wrote it off you'd be able to salvage something to use in the next one, and if you can't then you're probably dead  I've done loads of trackdays by myself, 'tis a good laugh and you meet loads of new people that way.
  2. I knew that already. * * I didn't know that at all.
  3. Usually use AirPlay, but am in the middle of converting everything to stream via Raspbmc instead on my RPi. Have tested the setup and it works fine, just need to purchase the NAS for it now and transfer. Will be using UnRAID for it, works best for my needs.
  4. You buy bits for cars based on what model and revision you have, not the age of the car. Lesson learnt, methinks.
  5. I know someone who's Awesome Rating has increased today by getting a matching set...
  6. I've a better idea, but I don't want to spoil the surprise just yet. Once Zedley gets back here you'll see and I think it's more fitting too
  7. It's a serious amount of porn, is what it is.
  8. Should've been a dual-clutch 'box, but otherwise it's dangerously close to motoring perfection.
  9. I worry about your taste sometimes Dip, I really do  My younger brother ran one before his Clio 182. All in black, detestable little thing. Didn't look entirely horrid I'll admit, but the engine had no go and no soul, and the suspension was stuck between wallowy and jarring. The Clio on the other hand...
  10. Ah come now, my poor MX-5 is worth more than a tenner at least
  11. Not that I know of. They're lacking in grip on both wet and dry surfaces, but they do make up for that in feel. Nowhere near the PSS in terms of grip or durability, but about equal in feel.
  12. Saw it in 2D yesterday, t'was okay. Certainly wouldn't pay the extra for 3D, but then I don't like 3D in the first place so I'm a bit biased
  13. Won't happen. £10 to a charity of your choice says so.
  14. Is that not an upgrade from a 206?
  15. Nope, they're ZF-sourced slushboxes only. Suits the car better I would think, Jags have never really had decent manual 'boxes in recent years anyway.
  16. Choose the gear appropriate for the road and conditions. If I'm pootling around on a dull straight country lane then I'll be in 7th, if I'm going for it I'll barely see 4th. To execute a swift overtake you need to be in 2nd. It'll top out at 60mph, and if you need to speed to overtake then the overtake wasn't on in the first place.
  17. PSS, absolutely no question. Huge difference in quality.
  18. I'd rather walk anywhere than drive a poxy Micra again!
  19. Worst? Easy, last gen Micra. Utterly deplorable piece of asthmatic crap that I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy.
  20. I'm a hydro-environmental technician
  21. It's all rubbish, no-one has any idea exactly what's going on and by the time it'll make any difference to me I'll be dead. Mankind will either invent something fabulous to sort everything out (very likely, we normally do) or we'll be made extinct. Either way, there'll be a solution.
  22. Why would they not? You have a cert of the works tested from the gas installer, it's on his head if anything goes wrong as he was the last one to test the appliance and pipework. Once he signs that bit of paper, everything is on him, no? No different from him getting an apprentice to do it and then he checks and signs off. That's how I see it anyway. Tbh it's been years since I touched any gas, but that used to be the principle then anyhoo.
