  1. Hang on, you're confusing me now! The Zed has NO protections against overrevs in the example I gave, on the way down through the gearbox. It only has protection from you booting it in gear and forgetting to change up.
  2. Ah, I see now. That makes sense Like every car ever made since the early '90s, the Zed does indeed have a rev limiter to stop you breaking things. Won't help with overrevs via a botched shift, though. Which is downshifting to 2nd instead of 4th at 100mph, for example.
  3. out of interest, is there a rev limiter on this car too? Yes, at 6500 for yours. Again though, and I'm curious more than trying to sound horrid, but why do you think the max revs for each gear is important?
  4. Can I ask why you think it matters what the max revs for each gear are?
  5. Well yeah, it's fuel cut at the redline. 6500 on DE cars, 7000 on revup, 7500 on HR. You have a DE car.
  6. Wait, what? So you're complaining about receiving a ticket for overstaying in a car park intended for customers of a store you didn't even end up using?! You're right, that does sound petty.
  7. I really like the VUS, loads and loads of feel if not ultimate grip. For £800 though, I'd be getting the MPSS which are a billionty times better than both.
  8. Stolen during a viewing? Ouch, no insurance possibly.
  9. And you're paying for the nice building, and the pretty receptionist, and the free coffee, and the official Nissan stamp et al.
  10. Oi, I voted for the door lock!* *I didn't vote for the lock
  11. I drove one on Saturday, so should probably put a little bit up about it. Be warned though, I come to a conclusion that will probably infuriate most of you... I had the choice of a petrol or diesel Macan, so clearly I went for the petrol one. It was the turbo one, but not the Turbo one: 3L V6 with a couple of turbochargers strapped to it, but not the identically-engined full-fat Turbo version. The Macan S, to be precise, with 340bhp. Granted, it's not a light car at 1900kg-ish, but that still allows for a 0-60 of 5.4secs. Yup, this lump of SUV is still quicker than a Zed. Does it feel like it? Hell yeah. The PDK 'box is a marvel, it's got to be twice as quick as mine (which isn't exactly slow) so you can really plough through the gears and make rapid progress. Power delivery is excellent too, lag is utterly minimal and it pulls very cleanly to the redline with no drop in power. BMW, take note. I had a good hour in the car, around some twisty country lanes I know well, and you know what? The Macan handles superbly. It belies mass very well, and the 4WD really lets you lean on it whilst maintaining rearward bias. In fact, I'd go as far to say that I wouldn't have been any quicker on those roads in the 911, assuming we're sticking to legal speeds. Masses amounts of grip, and the three stage dampers keep everything in check nicely. It flows over even the worst of potholes, but corners flatter than expected with no crashy ness on the firmest setting. The interior is standard Porsche stuff, i.e. it's really well made and everything is perfectly placed, but if you don't like them you're not going to like this. You'd be wrong to not like it of course, but each to their own. After spending some time with it, and after poking around all the various storage spaces, I came to the conclusion that this is a superb car and Porsche's claim at it being a sports car is not hugely far from the truth. In fact, I could live with one of these as an only car without feeling hard done by at all. It's like a big hot hatch, for grown ups. One of the most complete vehicles I've driven for a long time, and to write it off as dull, ugly and boring is to miss out on a genuinely fun drive. Just don't risk a traffic light GP with one.

  13. What did the shop you bought the furniture from say?

Or cheap wheels. Or crap tyre fitters. Or all three.
  15. Yeah, I'd go with that too.
  16. The HSD Dualtechs aren't full coilovers. That's going to be a bit oversteery as you're reducing the stagger. Your sizes are 3.64% smaller on the front, and 5.16% smaller on the rear, so I'd expect some TCS issues with those sizes.
  17. Matt, did you actually directly ask them if it was the revup/300bhp model?
  18. I'm still not sure it has. There is no such thing as a 350Z 300, it's just a term that we as owners use (what is the official term? Is it a revup? DE facelift? Z33.2? I don't know the internal naming convention) and the damning bit of evidence is the V5 itself. J17 have advertised and sold the exact car that's on the V5, it's just that the V5 isn't correct but that's not down to the dealer to sort. Hey, they may have bought it in thinking it was a revup model seeing as how that's what the V5 says! Given their history of selling Zeds I too would expect them to know the difference, but unless the OP specifically asked them if it was the 300bhp/revup model, have they actually done anything wrong? The OP viewed the car, was happy with both it and the price, and loved his car up until the point he realised he bought the normal DE. Absolute sympathy for the guy, and without the J17 history I may even give them the benefit of the doubt, and I'll be very interested to see what they come back with.
  19. I think you're giving J17 too much credit As owners and experts, we can instantly tell the difference. What I'm saying is that J17 haven't anywhere advertised the car as having 300bhp: They've simply stated it's a 350Z 300, which is exactly what it's recorded as on the V5. Those are the facts, and I'm not entirely sure that a court would rule in the OPs favour. I'm playing devil's advocate a bit here somewhat, but I'm also just following things to their logical conclusion a bit too. Would I kick up a stink? Yeah, you're damn right I would, but I'd do it politely at first. Maybe even go back in a bit dumb and just get them to confirm 100% that it's got 300bhp as some people on the internet said it didn't, that kind of thing.
  20. Ah yes, missed that because it wasn't the OP that posted it. However, I'm still not sure there's a case here. The V5 states the title of the car, and that's exactly what J17 put in their advert. Have they misrep'd the car? Well, possibly, but they're going to argue that they sold the car exactly as described on the DVLA system and nowhere have they said it has 300bhp or 300ps. I'm not saying it's not shady, but neither is it clear cut and a good lawyer could get them through.
  21. So what size are the tyres again? Are you planning on a full coilover conversion? Be aware of the issues regarding the rear mounts.
  22. No you don't (I don't work at a VW dealer). Your individual dealership may offer that service (why?!), but there's no legal framework that states that. Unless you have a copy of the advert, which states clearly that it was a 300 model, then you're on a hiding to nothing here unless the dealer has a sense of honour and integrity. It'd be your word against his in court, on the balance of probabilities. You may get lucky, but you may not.
