  1. Agreed, just wash and clay it. No LSP will stand up to anything you're going to use to remove the swirls.
  2. Now that's a random first post If you have your music at 64kbps, then a tape adaptor is probably fine. If you have it at anything approaching a sensible bitrate (like the standard 256), then it'll sound awful and you'll be better off with something decent. I'd use a tape adaptor in a works van for convenience, but not in my car.
  3. So does that make me uber-brave or uber-stupid that I started on a converted turbocharged car?! No wait, don't answer that, I think I already know...
  4. As far as I can see, that stuff is just an LSP (last stage product), so it'll protect but will not remove any swirls. To remove the swirls you need a polish, preferably applied by machine, and then you apply your favourite LSP over the top of that. If you put the G3 Glasscoat straight over the car will no doubt appear nice and glossy, but it won't hide the swirls. Or are you simply asking how to remove the swirls?
  5. Cost effective would've been me paying someone to do it for me, at my hourly rate I reckon that cost me about £6000 to map my own car!
  6. In fairness, if someone can map a car themselves then fair play to them. I did some minor tweaks to my own MR2 when I had the turbo put on, due to the supplied map knocking at various points so it's not hugely difficult if you understand the theory. That said, I've no doubt any professional would've done a better job than me, and it took me hours of road testing to get it to where I was happy with it. If it hadn't been for the fact that I was enjoying the learning experience as much as anything, I'd have definitely been better off taking it to a tuner. £400 is peanuts though, especially when it comes to modding.
  7. Who's going to do Wales next year?
  8. Are people really complaning that £400 is too expensive for a remap? Really?! So something that has noticeably tangible differences on the driving experience is too expensive, but a fibreglass rip off bumper that doesn't actually fit very well and needs prep and paint is perfectly okay at the same price? Okay, so you can sell one on, but even so. Do people still buy CDs and not downloads?
  9. Looks good, much better than what we have now. Good to see that F1 is finally catching up with WEC! Also, FRIC systems to be banned from the German GP? Looks very likely, as the teams not running it would be highly unlikely to let other teams carry on using it. The Mercs would be particularly hard hit, but that doesn't mean that other teams might not lose out more.
  10. FWIW, and assuming that the driving part is something that people actively want to participate in, then in terms of fun roads I would rate Scotland above Wales. The IoM would also be above Wales if there were more roads, as what they have is stunning with no limit. Something like LM is more of a static experience, as the drive down there and back is actually pretty dull. That said, the experience of the race itself is utterly immense and I WILL be back next year to do it all over again.
  11. £50M worth of goofball Now watch Germany lose the final. It's almost a dead cert now at this point.
  12. Did I ever mention my paternal grandmother is German*? So I'm claiming this as a great victory for my second country *No, she really is.
  13. Skill. Bearing in mind that you're not paying for the time taken or the labour involved, but the knowledge of how far you can push an engine before it goes pop. That knowledge is what costs.
  14. Yes, someone's replaced the front bumper at some point, probably crash damage
  15. Yes, it's a Revup model. Newer interior and two slats on the front but no raised bonnet lid give it away. Revup is essentially the same as the facelift, you also have the HR version which sits at the top.
  16. Looks amazing bud, I'm sure you'll have a blast.
  17. Driving like a c0ck will do that.
  18. You really need to try and convince him, if the traffic is bad at the border you can write off an hour and half and there's only one way in or out really. There is nothing there, and whilst I also wanted to tick the box it's the one huge regret I have from my trip last year, utter waste of time.
  19. Looks ace, but one suggestion: Don't bother with Andorra! It's utterly rubbish, and having driven through it twice it's not even worth doing once. Just stay on the 260, the route on that map is perfect.
  20. I should give up on Lewis more often, apparently.
  21. IoM is amazing to visit, the roads are spectacular and no limit makes you drive with more awareness. Also some great historic places to visit too. Alas Steampacket ferries are not cheap
  22. Yes, they do. It won't save you if you do something daft, though.
  23. I've been listening to a lot of the Stones, Metallica and Snoop lately. New music leaves me utterly cold. Thank god there's so much decent older stuff for me still to discover
