Cripes, realy?! Is the 370 that bad at cooling the oil then? That seems atrocious.

It's like there's an echo in here, that repeats every year. Do people ever just take the first offer that comes through on renewal? Companies must love folks like that. All the big guys do it as they don't have to chase trade, the smaller ones are much better. Both Sky and A-Plan have been more than fair with their renewal prices, but I still search around just in case.

I don't know how you guys get by with so little, I really don't. Two pairs of trainers, dozen or so t-shirts, half again in shorts, couple of pairs of jeans, and a couple of longer tops. Bag of toiletries, and that's it. Easy comes to 20+kg, including the bag. Anyhoo, I'm out here now and it's lovely and toasty, if a little rainy right now. Already seen a 370Z ragtop, common as muck out here!

It's only me and Jo going We don't have a huge amount of spending money to buy stuff this time round, hence taking a lot of clothes with us for the trip. I'm not a massive fan of US clothing apart from the generic stuff like some Levi jeans for work etc, so I tend not to buy too much. Unlike Jo, who tends to buy everything she sees and then wonders why we can't get it all in her case. Wimmin, eh?

I've got a bag of clothes, Jo's got a bag of clothes, and I may or may not have taken my detailing stuff out with me to do my Mum's car whilst I'm there It's surprising how much all that stuff weighs!

Okay, didn't see that bit. I still don't mind though, as it's properly organised and when we can start having motor races on the roads on weekends, it's going to stuff up the cyclists even more

Ah man, what a crap day. Trying to pack for my 21 day holiday to Florida, and I've managed to fill three suitcases with 22kg, 22kg and 21kg worth of stuff respectively already which is only just below the 23kg limit. Thank god I'm not flying cattle class and can take two cases per person, which will come in handy on the way back as I'm bringing a spare holdall to fill with goodies!* Every day is a struggle, it really is. You can all give me your sympathy now. *Up to the legal limit of £390, obviously Mr HMRC.

Meh, it's only a Sunday. Stuff like that I can deal with happily, it's the ad-hoc races like you mentioned above that get my goat. If they want to race on the roads, then close them. Else they should treat the roads like everyone else has to: With respect for other road users.

So, all four calipers now changed (rears were a pig, clevis pin for the handbrake was seized in both sides) and the car... is still not fixed. I still get full brake pressure but only at the end of travel: However, if I pump the brake a couple of times whilst in motion, I get full pressure exactly where it should be. I'm guessing that either the master cylinder (likely) or brake booster (less likely) is shot and needs replacing. Unfortunately I'm now out of time to do this myself, as I'm on holiday from today for a month so I'm going to give it to my local Porker indy to fix whilst I'm away. Probably won't see much change from £500 if I'm lucky, but I've no choice as Bedford is rapidly looming on the horizon. On the upside, once it's all done then I won't need to worry about the brakes at all for the next 100K miles, apart from discs and pads.

Sports Racer came in both S and non-S variants, that's right. It's a good value car, but still very pricey. Don't discount the non-S though, it's still an absolute blinder of a car and I think I preferred it to the S as I enjoyed working it harder.

Like for like, the petrol version of a car will normally handle better as there's less weight up front. It'll sound better, rev better and cost you less to purchase. It might cost you more in fuel over the ownership period, and range will definitely be less which can be a massive consideration. And none of that actually matters, as if the diesel version works for the individual and their driving style, then more power (well, torque actually!) to them

Great cars, especially the MY12 cars onwards. The suspension and steering is out of this world, just wish they'd drop in price a little more.

I use a small Amcor 12000 BTU unit for the bedroom, which isn't very noisy at all considering.

I now prefer the exterior of the 370 to the 350, but I really didn't at first. In terms of the drive there's nowt much in it, but the 350 feels more raw and that appeals to me. I'd say the 370 is a fraction twitchier, but I preferred the steering and more planted feel of the longer wheelbase in the 350. For looks, I'd have a 370 ragtop in Black Rose any day. For the drive, a solid HR 350 would be preferable, with a few £K in the pocket. Meh, each to their own. Both good cars.

In itself, I have no problem with a diesel car. My truck is diesel, we nearly bought a 118d last year, they're fine for what they do. With all due respect to Dave and his Jag, which is a very fine machine and is certainly no slouch, for me personally I would never want one as my fun car. They can be enjoyable in their own way, but they can never touch a good petrol engined car in terms of enjoyment. All IMHO, YMMV, etc.

Sounds like a diesel, and doesn't rev. Noise and revs are pretty much top of the list when it comes to fun cars, so whilst these diesels are quick I would argue that they're not exactly exciting. Rather have a slower but more fulfilling car than a quick diesel. And no way will you get 50mpg out of a 330d.

Agreed, anything below 120c is okay, I wouldn't want it going much above that and would immediately start cooldown procedures if it started creeping towards that figure.

I've had to turn the aircon down in my house as it was getting too cold. /smug
