  1. Like for like, the petrol version of a car will normally handle better as there's less weight up front. It'll sound better, rev better and cost you less to purchase. It might cost you more in fuel over the ownership period, and range will definitely be less which can be a massive consideration. And none of that actually matters, as if the diesel version works for the individual and their driving style, then more power (well, torque actually!) to them
  2. It's punishment for taking your car to a scratchy-scratchy car wash
  3. Great cars, especially the MY12 cars onwards. The suspension and steering is out of this world, just wish they'd drop in price a little more.
  4. I use a small Amcor 12000 BTU unit for the bedroom, which isn't very noisy at all considering.

    Noooooo don't ruin your car
  6. Bingo. That's an incredibly common and old one.
  7. Quote pyramids are for losers Styling is subjective: For example, I find the mix of analogue, digital and textures in the 370 to be very jarring and awkward. I now prefer the exterior of the 370 to the 350, but I really didn't at first. In terms of the drive there's nowt much in it, but the 350 feels more raw and that appeals to me. I'd say the 370 is a fraction twitchier, but I preferred the steering and more planted feel of the longer wheelbase in the 350. For looks, I'd have a 370 ragtop in Black Rose any day. For the drive, a solid HR 350 would be preferable, with a few £K in the pocket. Meh, each to their own. Both good cars.
  8. In itself, I have no problem with a diesel car. My truck is diesel, we nearly bought a 118d last year, they're fine for what they do. With all due respect to Dave and his Jag, which is a very fine machine and is certainly no slouch, for me personally I would never want one as my fun car. They can be enjoyable in their own way, but they can never touch a good petrol engined car in terms of enjoyment. All IMHO, YMMV, etc.
  9. Very clean.
  10. There is a lot of guesswork and he said/she said in this thread, and a lot of it has come from news sources you wouldn't otherwise look twice at. Come on folks, use your head: Most of it is going to be made up to get headlines to smaller websites.
  11. I dunno, one of the poor people.
  12. Sounds like a diesel, and doesn't rev. Noise and revs are pretty much top of the list when it comes to fun cars, so whilst these diesels are quick I would argue that they're not exactly exciting. Rather have a slower but more fulfilling car than a quick diesel. And no way will you get 50mpg out of a 330d.
  13. Agreed, anything below 120c is okay, I wouldn't want it going much above that and would immediately start cooldown procedures if it started creeping towards that figure.
  14. I've had to turn the aircon down in my house as it was getting too cold. /smug
  15. I should imagine that's quite a peaceful moment, once you get past all the hysterical screaming.
  16. Don't worry, I know of someone else who got black flagged for hooning, eh Doc...
  17. I'm really looking forward to seeing your new toy on track, will be very interesting to see how the two cars compare. I'll have to chuck you the keys to mine and see how you get on with it. I'll be on 888s, so if the weather is dry (if!) taht'll make more difference than anything. It's almost like cheating really
  18. And that's me being kind
  19. Can't comment on the drive, but they're not exactly pretty.
  20. You'll leave me for dead on the back straight without breaking sweat, but I would be disappointed if I wasn't quicker than you through the corners and definitely under braking. Assuming I get the brakes fixed of course, else I'll be taking the 911 instead. No comment on driver talent or lack thereof meant, purely on a physics thing What MR2 has Phil got again?
  21. Zackerly. And that's precisely why I'd have a Liquid Yellow phase2 Clio V6 with the Recaros in my dream garage.
  22. I know it'd never happen, and I know it probably wouldn't actually be that good to drive, but I think it would be an occasion and for me, that's good enough.
  23. I just wish they'd do a new Clio V6. I like the style of the new one, and with the 3.7L V6 from the 370Z in there mounted midships that would be superb. Completely impractical, but superb.
  24. Never mind the cyclists, if one more f*cking ***** of a motorcyclist decides to try and undertake me when I'm just about to move back to the LH lane on a DC after overtaking a slower vehicle, I'm just going to carry on going and take the idiot out. Yes motorcyclists, we get that you're allowed to filter in traffic. Why you think that suddenly means you can whip past us at 80mph+ on the inside is beyond me.
  25. Nope, different. A16LER in the VX, and I think it's a version of the PSA Prince lump in the Mini.
